Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model to persuasive text material and analyze students' perceptions of the model. The approach used is descriptive qualitative, with 61 students of class VIII of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Banjarmasin as research subjects. Data were obtained through RPP documentation, poster invitation assignment results, and closed questionnaires that measured students' perceptions. The results of the study indicate that the application of the PBL model has followed the syntax of problem-based learning systematically and has succeeded in improving students' understanding and skills in composing persuasive texts. All students scored above the KKM, with scores ranging from 80 to 95. In addition, the results of the questionnaire revealed that the majority of students responded positively to this model. They felt that learning was more interesting, contextual, and helped them think critically and independently. Thus, the PBL model has proven to be effective and feasible to be applied in Indonesian language learning to increase student involvement and competence.

Abstract

This study aims to describe how the Culturally Responsive Teaching approach is implemented in the teaching of personal letters and official letters by using wetland culture as the local context in Grade VII of SMPN 1 Banjarmasin. Through this approach, the learning materials are connected to the cultural environment of the students, such as activities in floating markets, life in floating houses, and the traditions of river communities. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with content analysis applied to the Indonesian language learning module. The findings show that the five main dimensions of Culturally Responsive Teaching, namely Content Integration, Facilitating Knowledge Construction, Prejudice Reduction, Social Justice, and Academic Development, are applied successfully and create learning that is relevant, enjoyable, and able to encourage active student participation. The module provides opportunities for students to express their personal experiences and cultural background through writing personal letters and official letters. Besides improving writing skills, this approach also helps build cultural awareness and character development. Therefore, Culturally Responsive Teaching has strong potential to be applied more widely in the development of learning materials based on local wisdom.

Abstract

The positive classroom management approach has emerged in response to the need to create a more humanistic, constructive, and character oriented learning environment. In modern educational contexts, teachers are expected not only to facilitate student learning but also to establish a supportive and collaborative classroom atmosphere that encourages active student participation. This study aims to analyze the concepts, implementation strategies, impacts, and challenges of the positive classroom management approach through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of ten relevant scientific articles and journals. To identify the strategies employed, their influence on students motivation and learning outcomes, and the difficulties encountered in their implementation, the study was conducted by first selecting recent literature. The findings indicate that positive classroom management is generally implemented through consistent routines, the creation of a supportive learning environment, the use of reinforcement that promotes learning, and the adoption of collaborative learning models. This approach has been shown to enhance motivation, discipline, participation, independence, and students readiness to learn across various educational levels. However, its implementation still faces several challenges, including diverse student characteristics, limited resources, varying levels of teacher competence, and resistance to change. The results of this study underscore the importance of teacher training, school administration support, and consistent classroom management to ensure the effectiveness of positive management strategies. This review provides both theoretical and practical foundations for developing adaptive and character-oriented learning models.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between the spice trade in the 16th-century Indonesian archipelago and the peaceful, gradual, and network-based spread of Islam. During this period, the Indonesian archipelago became a strategic hub for global trade, connecting the Islamic world, India, the Middle East, and Europe. In this context, Muslim traders played a crucial role as both economic actors and cultural and religious agents. Through trade interactions, marriages, the formation of coastal communities, and the dissemination of Islamic ethical values inherent in trade practices, Muslim traders successfully influenced social structures and broadened local acceptance of Islamic teachings. This study uses a historical approach, examining primary and secondary sources on trade networks, migration patterns, and political dynamics in the maritime regions of the Indonesian archipelago. The analysis shows that the spice trade served not only as a means of commodity exchange but also as a medium for cultural and religious diffusion, accelerating the growth of Islamic kingdoms in various regions. These findings confirm that Islamization in the Indonesian archipelago was an integral part of the global economic network in the 16th century.

Abstract

Parental communication plays an essential role in preventing speech delay among early childhood learners. This article examines the existence and significance of parent–child communication as a non-formal educational effort to minimize speech delay. The study employed a literature review method by analyzing books, scientific journals, and official reports from professional institutions such as the Indonesian Pediatric Society (IDAI). Findings indicate that insufficient verbal stimulation, limited parent–child interaction, and lack of responsive communication contribute significantly to delays in children's speech development. Warm, consistent, and affectionate communication has been proven to enhance children’s language skills, emotional security, and confidence. Furthermore, simple daily activities such as storytelling, dialogue, and joint play serve as effective forms of language stimulation. The study emphasizes that parent–child communication is not only a medium for exchanging information, but also an important foundation for fostering children’s linguistic, emotional, and social development. The implications of this study highlight the need for strengthening communication practices within families as a preventive strategy against speech delay and as a fundamental component in optimizing early childhood development.

Abstract

Digital technology has influenced the way students interact, especially through a number of social networking platforms. This transformation triggers the development of a new, adaptable, and continuous way of communicating. This research explores various types of language used by students in daily activities and on social media, as well as researching how assimilated words play a role in the evolution of language patterns in the digital age. This research focuses on three main aspects: variations in language forms that appear in student interactions, the use of absorption words in each type of language, and factors that encourage changes in the use of absorption words among students. The methodology applied is qualitative descriptive, with data collection through content review on social media and relevant literature studies. The results of the study show that students apply various language styles, from formal to casual, including the use of slang, and all of this is influenced by the context of online communication they live. Absorption words adopted by students on social media platforms act as a means to express their identity, help them adapt in a global environment, and speed up interaction between friends. The practice of language use by students is influenced by various social and religious factors in the context of digital culture, as well as the demand to communicate faster and more efficiently, coupled with their exposure to foreign languages. Overall, this study concluded that the relationship between various forms of language and its practice of use, along with changes in norms regarding what is considered appropriate, forms a new communication style that reflects the development of the Indonesian language among students on social media. This finding is expected to contribute to the latest research and enrich the discussion about the ongoing language dynamics.

Abstract

This article explores the distinctions between formal and informal language, focusing on their unique features, intended purposes, and appropriate usage contexts. Informal language tends to be more relaxed, spontaneous, and commonly used in casual conversations. In contrast, formal language is structured, respectful, and predominantly employed in academic, professional, and official environments. The study emphasizes how choosing the right language style impacts communication by affecting clarity, tone, and overall effectiveness. The differences between vocabulary choices, grammatical structures, and communicative intentions are examined to show how language style influences interaction. Understanding when to use formal or informal language enables speakers and writers to adapt more easily to various social situations. This adaptability not only improves communication but also helps in fostering better understanding across different contexts, ensuring that the message is received in the intended manner. By mastering the appropriate use of both language styles, individuals can enhance their communication skills and navigate diverse social settings more effectively.

Abstract

Indonesian is a subject that emphasizes reading and writing skills, including cursive writing for elementary school students. However, many students experience difficulties in cursive writing, especially in grade 3 of SD Negeri 1 Bae. This study aims to analyze students' difficulties in cursive writing and teachers' efforts to overcome them through peer teaching strategies. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach with teachers and grade 3 students of SD Negeri 1 Bae as research subjects. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data analysis was carried out through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that difficulties in cursive writing in students were caused by weak fine motor skills, inconsistent letter shapes, inaccurate letter sizes, and low motivation and self-confidence. The application of peer tutoring strategies was proven to be effective in improving writing skills, making students' writing neater, improving letter proportions, and increasing students' enthusiasm and self-confidence. In addition, peer tutored students also showed increased responsibility and empathy towards their peers. Based on these findings, peer tutoring strategies can be an effective alternative to improve cursive writing skills in elementary school students.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in Indonesian language learning as an innovative approach to improving students’ quality. The focus of the research is directed toward the process of implementing PjBL, students’ responses and engagement, as well as the challenges faced by teachers during the learning process. The subject of this study is an Indonesian language teacher who is also a master’s degree student and has implemented the PjBL model in teaching grade X and XI students at SMAN 1 Banjarmasin. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through structured interviews with a participant who has experience in implementing the model. The results of the study indicate that the PjBL model is implemented systematically through several stages, starting from project-based activity planning to evaluation and learning reflection in order to achieve optimal outcomes. The implementation of the PjBL model has been proven to enhance students’ participation and critical thinking skills, as well as to develop collaboration and creativity among students. Learning becomes more meaningful as students are directly involved in learning activities that are relevant to real-life contexts. However, several challenges were encountered during the implementation, including limited instructional time, differences in students’ abilities, and the need for intensive teacher guidance to ensure that learning objectives are achieved optimally. Therefore, the implementation of the PjBL model can be considered an innovative learning model for improving the quality of Indonesian language learning and producing high-quality learners.
