Abstract

A field of linguistics called phonology investigates the sound system of language, especially how sounds function to distinguish the meaning of words. The purpose of this study is to improve our understanding of the phoneme analysis of Indonesian. As the smallest units of sound, phonemes play an important role in distinguishing the meaning of words. The study of phonology includes the perception and production of sounds, their role in distinguishing meaning, and how sounds are used to create words and sentences. Phonology also investigates sound transformations such as assimilation, dissimilation, metathesis, and elision, which have an impact on the sound structure of language. Suprasegmental elements such as intonation, stress, and pauses are also discussed because they contribute to a clearer understanding of speech. In order to learn correct pronunciation and understand how sounds change as language develops, an understanding of phonology is essential.

Abstract

This study explores the sociolinguistic functions of English abbreviations frequently used by Generation Z on TikTok. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the research identifies 30 commonly used abbreviations and categorizes them according to their linguistic functions. The analysis reveals that these abbreviations serve expressive, interpersonal, informative, and contextual purposes. Their frequent use on TikTok reflects Gen Z’s unique digital identity and language practices shaped by social media culture. The study highlights the sociolinguistic significance of abbreviations as tools for identity performance, emotion expression, and community engagement in online communication. Abstract

This article examines the role of literature as a medium for social criticism. Literature is not merely a collection of beautiful words; it also functions to convey emotions, ideas, and criticism regarding social issues. Literature can portray societal conditions and various issues veiled in public discourse, fostering debate, reflection, and acting as a catalyst for social change. This article specifically analyzes W.S. Rendra's poem "Orang Kepanasan" (People Overheated) as a clear example of how literature can serve as a medium for social critique.Using a descriptive qualitative approach and documentation method, this study identifies various forms of injustice, including social inequality, legal injustice, and political injustice, as represented in the poem. Rendra employs symbolism and precise language to express public dissatisfaction, even if not explicitly. The per-stanza analysis of the poem reveals sharp criticism that depicts the limited lives of the marginalized confronting luxury and power. Thus, this article affirms that literary works have a cumulative role in shaping public opinion, fostering critical thinking about surrounding circumstances, and disseminating critical ideas, even if change does not occur instantaneously.

Abstract

Forests are a vital element in maintaining the balance of the ecosystem because they provide various needs for living things, such as a source of oxygen, carbon dioxide absorber, food provider, climate regulator, and biodiversity conservation place. However, along with the times, deforestation is increasingly rampant and threatens the sustainability of forest ecological functions. One potential approach to preserving forests is local wisdom-based conservation by involving indigenous communities. This study aims to analyse forest conservation practices carried out by the indigenous people of Kampung Naga in Tasikmalaya through a zone division system based on local wisdom values. Using qualitative methods and a case study approach, this research examines how the Kampung Naga community maintains ecosystem balance through structured land management and preservation of forest ecological functions. In addition, this research also explores customary values and norms that shape community behaviour in environmental management, such as the use of natural materials in house construction, sustainable management of agricultural land, and the application of silviculture principles in maintaining forest areas as a life support. The results of this study show that local wisdom can be a strong basis for sustainable natural resource management.

Abstract

Creative writing is a form of language skill that requires the ability to express ideas, feelings, and imagination freely, originally, and engagingly in written form. Among university students, creative writing plays an important role not only as a means of intellectual and emotional development, but also as a medium for character building, broadening horizons, and enhancing critical thinking skills. However, the phenomenon shows that students’ interest and motivation to engage in creative writing remain relatively low. Problems arise due to obstacles such as difficulty in finding ideas, fear of criticism, limited technical writing skills, and a lack of facilities and supportive environments for independent and creative writing activities. This article aims to examine the role of digital media as a solution to increase creative writing motivation among university students. The writing uses a literature review method by analyzing and synthesizing various previous research relevant to the topic. The results show that the use of digital media—such as blogs, social media, writing applications, and other online platforms—can provide a wider, more interactive, and easily accessible space for students to write and share their works. Digital media also facilitates interaction between writers and readers, offers feedback and appreciation, and fosters a spirit of collaboration and healthy competition that encourages students to keep creating. In conclusion, digital media has a strategic role in overcoming various obstacles in creative writing and significantly increases students’ motivation to be active and productive writers in the digital era.

Abstract

Folklore is an oral cultural heritage that contains moral values and local wisdom that are important to be transmitted to the younger generation. This study aims to identify and describe the moral values in the folklore "Sultan Hadlirin and At-Taqwa Mosque Loram Kulon Kudus" contained in the book Cerita Rakyat Pesisir Timur by Mohammad Kanzunnudin. The method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques in the form of observing and taking notes and data analysis using the Miles and Huberman model (data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions). The results of the study indicate that this story contains a number of main moral values, namely responsibility, religiosity, social concern, and tolerance. This finding confirms that folklore is not only a medium of entertainment and cultural preservation, but also a means of character education that is relevant to answer the moral challenges of today's young generation. Therefore, the integration of folklore in moral education needs to be encouraged in order to strengthen cultural identity and form individuals with noble character.

Abstract

This study examines religious values ​​and the concept of patience and sincerity in the novel "Cinta dalam Diam" by Shineeminka. This fictional novel tells the story of household life and conveys moral messages and values ​​of goodness. With a qualitative descriptive approach and content analysis, this study uses the novel Cinta dalam Diam published in 2017 as a primary data source. The results of the analysis show that the religious values ​​contained in the novel include the relationship between humans and God (belief in Allah, prayer, praying, reading the Qur'an, tawakal), the relationship between humans and parents (devotion), the relationship between humans and others (good and bad morals, helping each other, affection), and the relationship between humans and oneself (patience, sincerity, accepting destiny, gratitude, maintaining honor). The main character, Zahra, is described as a person who has extraordinary patience and a sincere nature and is willing to sacrifice. Overall, this novel is full of religious values ​​and strong moral messages, inviting readers to reflect on the meaning of pure, patient, and sacrificial love according to Islamic law, and to become a better and stronger person spiritually.

Abstract

One of Jalaluddin Rumi’s poems which is titled “The Guest House” is a poem that shows the richness of figurative language used by the poet from Sufi. This poem was made during the early Islamic world literature era, precisely in the 13th century. This study focused on analysis on Rumi’s brief profile, intrinsic elements such as theme and figurative languages, also extrinsic elements including historical and socio-cultural influences during the creation of the poem where in the context of this poem is the influence of the early Islamic world literature era. This research will examine how figurative languages used by Rumi like metaphors and personifications contribute to the poem’s emotional impact, and how the poem effectively engages the readers to adopt an attitude of acceptance toward life experiences and emotions. Through literature structuralism theory, this research aims to uncover Rumi's brilliance in crafting words to send deep spiritual messages and to provoke self-reflections to the readers.

Abstract

Learning using interactive media has been widely applied in various elementary schools. This study was conducted to determine the success of using game-based learning media on the understanding of the concept of Pancasila Education in class IVA students at SD N Meijing 2. This study is a descriptive qualitative study. Then the approach used is a descriptive approach through the results of interviews, observations, and documentation. The subjects of this study were class IVA teachers of SD N Meijing 2 and class IVA students of SD N Meijing 2 with a total of 28 students. The results of the study concluded that learning activities using game-based media greatly influenced the understanding of the concept of Pancasila Education in class IVA students of SD N Meijing 2. Through game-based media, students are more enthusiastic and interested in participating in learning activities because they feel it is easier to understand the material being taught.

Abstract

This study investigated the impact of the educational complexes method on developing cognitive motivation among students, specifically aiming to show improvements in the experimental group's post-test results. An experimental methodology was employed, chosen for its effectiveness in controlling independent variables and accurately measuring their influence on dependent variables. The research sample comprised 86 second-year students from the Faculty of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Al-Maaref University for the 2024-2025 academic year, selected via purposive sampling. The study focused on two crucial handball skills: dribbling and shooting. Data were collected using a cognitive motivation scale questionnaire, a skill test around a rectangular field, and a shooting accuracy test. Following pre-tests and the main experimental intervention, post-tests for skill and cognitive motivation were administered. Analysis of the data (Tables 1, 2, and 3) revealed a noticeable improvement in learning levels for both cognitive motivation and handball skills across both the experimental and control groups when comparing pre-test to post-test results. The findings conclude that the educational complexes method effectively increases students' cognitive motivation and significantly enhances the learning process for handball dribbling and shooting skills.
