Abstract

This study aims to analyze the development of community-based tourism or Community Based Tourism (CBT) in the Wana Mukti Siguede tourist attraction, Kebonlegi Village, Kaliangkrik District, Magelang Regency. The CBT concept was chosen because of the emphasis on active participation of local communities as the main actors in planning, management, and decision-making in the tourism sector. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the management of Wana Mukti Siguede tourism has implemented the five main dimensions in the CBT theory according to Suansri, namely economic, social, cultural, environmental, and political dimensions. This community-based management has been proven to provide a significant contribution to increasing income, preserving local culture, and strengthening community capacity. However, there are still challenges in its implementation, such as limited participation of the younger generation, environmental carrying capacity being exceeded, and the absence of formal regulations that comprehensively regulate resource management. Therefore, a strategy for strengthening capacity, improving management, and developing local regulations is needed so that tourism management can run optimally, sustainably, and fairly for the community. This research is expected to be a reference in the development of community-based tourism in other areas that have similar potential.

Abstract

This research concludes that brand ambassadors play a crucial role in marketing communications to build a strong brand image. The success of the brand ambassador strategy heavily relies on selecting the right individuals. The ideal brand ambassador should align with the characteristics of the brand being promoted, possess strong credibility in the public's eyes, have an appealing charm to consumers, and hold significant influence in shaping positive consumer perceptions. More than just the 'face' of the brand, brand ambassadors shape consumer perceptions of the marketed brand. The personality and image of the brand ambassador greatly influence how consumers perceive the brand's value, quality, and identity. Thus, this study emphasizes the close relationship between brand ambassadors and the brand image of a product. The selection of an appropriate and effective brand ambassador can significantly enhance the brand image desired by a company. To broaden understanding of this topic, further research is recommended to conduct comprehensive studies on the effectiveness of brand ambassadors across various industrial sectors. This aims to identify best practices and specific challenges within each industry. Additionally, understanding the diverse characteristics of consumers can help companies better tailor their brand ambassador strategies to different target markets. By applying these recommendations, future research can provide deeper insights into the role of brand ambassadors in shaping and strengthening brand image. Brand ambassadors play a vital role in marketing communication strategies as they can build and enhance the brand image of a product. Choosing the right brand ambassador, who aligns with the brand's character, credibility, appeal, and significant influence, can increase consumer trust, expand market reach, and drive purchase decisions.

Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze the implementation of the Family Hope Program (Program Keluarga Harapan/PKH) policy in Rancasari District, Bandung City. In addition, it also analyzes the inhibiting factors affecting the implementation of the Family Hope Program policy and the efforts made to address challenges in the program's implementation in Rancasari District, Bandung City. The Family Hope Program (PKH) is a poverty alleviation initiative that supports access to healthcare services and improves the quality of life for poor and vulnerable families in terms of education and social services. Poverty issues arise when individuals are unable to meet their basic needs, thus requiring active government intervention to improve public welfare. The government provides PKH based on community data, which often proves to be inaccurate—some ineligible individuals are recorded in the central database as beneficiaries. Therefore, evaluation is needed to ensure the PKH policy is well-targeted so that it can truly help impoverished families enhance their quality of life. This study uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The data analysis is qualitative and conducted using an inductive method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The interviews were conducted in a structured and in-depth manner, guided by an interview framework. The findings reveal that the implementation of the PKH policy in Rancasari District is generally in line with national guidelines, influenced by several factors such as resources, communication, disposition, and bureaucratic structure. However, several technical and social obstacles at the local level remain. Supporting factors include the existence of an electronic distribution system, commitment from PKH officers, and support from the local community. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors include inaccurate data on beneficiary families (KPM), high workload for facilitators, and low public understanding. Efforts to address these issues include data updating, facilitator training, increased outreach, utilization of information technology, and strengthened cross-sector collaboration.

Abstract

This study investigates the effects of motivation, compensation, and job satisfaction on the performance of functional civil servants transitioning through the inpassing mechanism. Using a quantitative approach and SmartPLS for data analysis, the research examines both direct and indirect relationships among these key variables. Data were collected from a number of respondents who experienced the inpassing process, offering valuable insights into employee perceptions and outcomes. The findings reveal that motivation has a significant and direct influence on both job satisfaction and performance, making it the most dominant factor in the model. Compensation also exerts a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction, although its impact on performance is more moderate. Interestingly, while job satisfaction shows a positive relationship with performance, this connection is not statistically significant. Model evaluation demonstrates that motivation and compensation together explain 59% of the variance in job satisfaction and 48% in performance. These results underscore the importance of intrinsic motivation and a fair compensation system in improving employee performance, particularly during organizational transitions. The study contributes both theoretically and practically by providing a better understanding of what drives performance in the public sector. It highlights the urgent need for strategic HR policies that strengthen internal motivation and ensure fair treatment, especially for employees shifting roles through inpassing.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the world's largest producers of essential oils, especially from patchouli (Pogostemon cablin) and citronella (Cymbopogon nardus). However, most of these commodities are still sold as raw materials with low added value. The absence of a strong downstreaming strategy has limited the sector's contribution to farmers' welfare and national industrial development. In fact, the potential to develop a local essential oil-based perfume industry is considerable, especially when integrated with sustainability principles and community empowerment. This study aims to examine the practices of essential oil perfume downstreaming in Indonesia in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals, while identifying supporting and inhibiting factors, as well as existing research gaps. The research method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of 21 peer-reviewed scientific articles selected through clear inclusion criteria. Thematic analysis was applied to synthesize major findings from each study. The review reveals that downstreaming success is influenced by technological innovation in extraction, consumer preference for natural and eco-friendly products, as well as the importance of authentication systems and digital marketing strategies. It also shows that Goals 12, 9, and 3 are the most frequently associated with the issue. This study concludes that essential oil perfume downstreaming has significant potential as a sustainable, inclusive, and community-based industrial strategy that can contribute meaningfully to sustainable development in Indonesia.

Abstract

Based on the results of data analysis and processing by researchers at the BPKAD of Serang Regency, there are still weaknesses/shortcomings such as the insufficient number of human resources for a BPKAD in Serang Regency, which has a large responsibility, the low level of employee responsibility, low discipline rates, weak fairness among employees, inadequate job execution, and lack of initiative. The approach in this research is a quantitative approach. According to Sugiyono (2020:16), data collection uses research instruments, and data analysis is quantitative/statistical in nature, with the aim of testing the established hypothesis. Using Variable Operationalisation where Employee Work Ethos (X1), Work Discipline (X2), and Employee Performance (Y). The instrument test conducted is using a validity test to acknowledge the research's validity. Based on the explanation in the previous chapter, for this validity test, a questionnaire was distributed to 30 respondents (n30). Thus, based on the product moment table, the critical value (rkritis) obtained is 0.361. With the provision that the instrument is said to be valid if rhitung is greater than rkritis, and if rhitung is less than rkritis, then the instrument is declared invalid. Here are the results of the validity test of the research instruments for Variable X1 (Work Ethos), X2 (Work Discipline), and Variable Y (Employee Performance). BPKAD Serang Regency, although the education level of the ASN is quite high, this has not yet fully reflected in optimal discipline, motivation, and work responsibility. The research results indicate that there are still weaknesses in aspects of work behaviour such as responsibility and discipline that affect the achievement of employee performance targets.

Abstract

Illegal fishing conducted by Vietnamese fishermen presents a complex and multifaceted problem for Indonesia, particularly in the economic and environmental spheres, with direct consequences for the fisheries and marine sectors. This study aims to investigate the underlying causes of Vietnam’s persistent illegal fishing activities in the Northern Natuna Sea, a region rich in marine biodiversity and economic potential. The research applies a qualitative-descriptive method, utilizing secondary data sources such as news articles, academic journals, government publications, and other credible media. The analysis involves categorizing, examining, and interpreting the data to identify the main drivers behind Vietnam's illegal fishing behavior. One of the core findings highlights that the abundant natural marine resources in the Natuna Sea, which spans approximately 262,197.07 km², serve as a major incentive for Vietnamese fishers to exploit the area. Additionally, weak enforcement, overlapping territorial claims, and economic pressures in Vietnam contribute significantly to this transnational issue. The study also emphasizes the strategic role of the Indonesian government in strengthening maritime surveillance, law enforcement, and diplomatic engagement to curb these unlawful activities. Addressing this issue not only preserves Indonesia's sovereignty but also ensures sustainable marine resource management in the region. This research contributes to the broader discourse on maritime security and regional cooperation in Southeast Asia.

Abstract

The pornographic video case involving Indonesian public figures Gisella Anastasia and Michael Yakinobu De Fretes attracted widespread public attention in the end of 2020. Their legal status sparked debate, particularly regarding the application of Indonesia’s Pornography Law and questions of legal accountability. This study aims to analyze how two national media outlets, Tempo.co and Republika.co.id, framed their news coverage of the case. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, utilizing Robert N. Entman’s framing analysis model, which consists of four key elements: defining problems, diagnosing causes, making moral judgments, and offering treatment recommendations. The research analyzed 16 online news articles published by the two media outlets during the peak of the controversy. The findings reveal that Tempo.co framed the incident as an act of criminalization against Gisella Anastasia, criticizing the legal action as disproportionate and suggesting a need for legal review. In contrast, Republika.co.id emphasized moral and personal aspects of Gisella’s identity, constructing a narrative that steered public opinion toward viewing her as culpable. Both media were also found to highlight sensational elements and economic interests in their reporting, while giving limited attention to the role of judicial institutions and the broader issue of legal justice. These findings suggest that media framing in this case not only reflects the ideological orientation of each outlet, but also serves as a tool for shaping public perception in alignment with particular interests.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the social and economic impacts of the policy to evict illegal stalls along the railroad tracks in the Maulana Yusuf Stadium area, Serang City, which was implemented in early 2025. This policy was adopted by PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) and the Serang City Government on the grounds of regulating state assets, ensuring train safety, and urban spatial planning. Using a qualitative approach and case study method, this research collected data through in-depth interviews with displaced vendors, observations at the post-eviction site, and analysis of relevant documentation. The results of the study indicate that the eviction had a significant economic impact on the vendors, including loss of primary income sources, increased debt, and loss of business assets. From a social perspective, the impacts felt include social displacement, loss of community networks among vendors, and psychological stress due to uncertainty about the future. Although the objective of regulation was achieved with the railway embankment area becoming cleaner and more orderly, this study found that the relocation solutions or alternative empowerment programs offered by the government have not effectively addressed the needs of the vendors. This study recommends the need for more humane and participatory urban planning policies that not only focus on the physical aspects of the city but also on the sustainability of its residents' livelihoods.
