Abstract

Backgroud: Patient satisfaction is an important indicator in assessing the quality of healthcare services. Good service quality can increase patient satisfaction, thereby encouraging optimal utilization of healthcare services. Purpose: To analyze factors associated with outpatient satisfaction. Method: This quantitative study used a cross-sectional design. The study was conducted at the Rawasari Community Health Center in Jambi City in 2026. A sample of 105 respondents was selected using incidental sampling. Data were collected through interviews using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-Square test at a 95% confidence level (α = 0.05). Results: The majority of respondents, 69 respondents (65.7%), were satisfied with the services provided. Bivariate analysis showed a relationship between physical evidence and patient satisfaction (p=0.005), responsiveness (p=0.001), reliability (p=0.001), assurance (p=0.002), and empathy (p=0.001). Conclusion: All dimensions of SERVQUAL service quality have a significant relationship with outpatient satisfaction.   Keywords: Community Health Center; Patient Satisfaction; SERVQUAL.

Abstract

Background: Reproductive health workshops are an educational method that can improve adolescents' knowledge about preventing sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Purpose: To analyze the effect of reproductive health workshops on knowledge about preventing sexually transmitted infections in eleventh-grade students. Method: This study was a quasi-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The study population was all eleventh-grade students, with a sample of 68 respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection was conducted using a STI prevention knowledge questionnaire, while data analysis used a paired sample t-test. Results: The average knowledge score before the workshop was 46.84 and increased to 70.59 after the intervention, representing an average increase of 23.75 points. The paired sample t-test results indicated a significant effect of reproductive health workshops on improving students' knowledge about preventing sexually transmitted infections (p-value <0.05). Conclusion: Reproductive health workshops have proven effective in improving students' knowledge about preventing sexually transmitted infections and can therefore be used as a reproductive health education strategy in schools.   Keywords: Adolescents; Knowledge; Reproductive Health Workshop; Sexually Transmitted Infections.

Abstract

Background: Gangrene and osteomyelitis are serious complications of chronic lower extremity wounds that can lead to progressive tissue destruction, increase the risk of amputation, and worsen clinical outcomes. Early diagnosis and appropriate management are essential to control infection and prevent further complications. Case Presentation: A 68-year-old man presented with a wound on his right great toe that had persisted for two months and worsened over the preceding two weeks. Physical examination revealed a gangrenous ulcer of the right hallux accompanied by edema, pain, blackish discoloration, and purulent discharge. Laboratory investigations showed leukocytosis, anemia, thrombocytopenia, and hypoalbuminemia, while an ankle-brachial index of 0.84 indicated mild peripheral arterial disease. Plain radiography of the right foot demonstrated osteolysis of the distal phalanx consistent with osteomyelitis. Based on the clinical, laboratory, and radiological findings, the patient was diagnosed with gangrene of the right hallux complicated by osteomyelitis. Management included antibiotic therapy, correction of nutritional and electrolyte abnormalities, and right hallux amputation with debridement of necrotic tissue. Postoperatively, the patient showed clinical improvement with resolution of pain, absence of systemic signs of infection, and satisfactory wound healing. Conclusion: Gangrene complicated by osteomyelitis requires comprehensive evaluation and prompt management. Timely minor amputation combined with adequate debridement and infection control can serve as an effective definitive treatment to eradicate the source of infection and promote wound healing.   Keywords: Chronic Wound; Gangrene; Lower Extremity Infection; Minor Amputation; Osteomyelitis.

Abstract

Background: Nephrolithiasis is a urological disorder characterized by the formation of kidney stones due to the deposition of crystals and organic matrix in the urine. Pyelolithotomy is often performed for large kidney stones, but it can cause postoperative pain that interferes with patient mobility, rest, and recovery. Purpose: To describe the application of deep breathing relaxation techniques to reduce pain in patients with post-pyelolithotomy nephrolithiasis. Method: This was a descriptive case study using a nursing care approach. The subject was Mrs. S, 58, who was hospitalized in the Al-A'raaf Ward at PKU Muhammadiyah Bantul General Hospital. Data were collected through interviews, observations, physical examinations, and medical record reviews. The intervention consisted of deep breathing relaxation techniques for 10–15 minutes, three times daily for three days, accompanied by pharmacological therapy with ketorolac. Pain levels were measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Results: Patients experiencing acute postoperative pain with an NRS score of 4 appeared grimacing, restless, and restricted movement. After three days of intervention, the pain scale gradually decreased to NRS 1. The patient appeared more relaxed and comfortable, able to perform light mobilization, and experienced improved rest quality. Conclusion: Deep breathing relaxation techniques effectively help reduce pain intensity in patients with post-pyelolithotomy nephrolithiasis and can be used as a complementary therapy in postoperative pain management.   Keywords: Deep Breath; Nephrolithiasis; Pheyelitotomy.

Abstract

Background: Service quality is a key determinant of patient satisfaction in hospital settings, particularly for National Health Insurance (BPJS) participants. Raden Mattaher Hospital Jambi, as a referral hospital, experiences increasing BPJS inpatient visits. However, complaints and fluctuations in satisfaction index indicate potential service quality gaps. Purpose: To analyze the influence of service quality dimensions on BPJS inpatient satisfaction. Method: A quantitative study with a cross-sectional design was conducted in the inpatient wards of Raden Mattaher Hospital in 2025. A total of 424 BPJS inpatients were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using a SERVQUAL-based Likert questionnaire covering tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. Data were analyzed using univariate, bivariate (simple linear regression), and multivariate (multiple linear regression) analysis with SPSS at α=0.05. Results: Most respondents rated service quality as good (58.3%). The mean satisfaction score was 79.10±12.71. Partially, reliability (p=0.048) and assurance (p=0.000) significantly influenced satisfaction, while tangibles (p=0.312), responsiveness (p=0.087), and empathy (p=0.421) were not significant. Simultaneously, all dimensions significantly affected satisfaction (p=0.000) with R²=0.106. Assurance was the dominant factor (β=1.238). Conclusion: Service quality significantly influences BPJS inpatient satisfaction, with assurance as the strongest determinant. Strengthening professional competence and patient trust is essential to improve satisfaction levels.   Keywords: BPJS; Inpatient; Patient Satisfaction; SERVQUAL; Service Quality.

Abstract

Background: Patient identification is one of the patient safety goals aimed at ensuring the accuracy of patient recognition before healthcare services are delivered. The implementation of dual patient identification is essential to prevent medication errors, incorrect procedures, and other medical incidents. However, nurses’ compliance with patient identification procedures remains a challenge in healthcare settings. Objective: To analyze nurses’ compliance in implementing dual patient identification. Methods: This study employed a descriptive observational case study design. Data were collected through questionnaires and direct observations conducted over three consecutive days using a patient identification checklist comprising nine indicators. Results: Questionnaire findings indicated that all nurses reported 100% compliance with all dual patient identification indicators. However, observational results demonstrated a decline in compliance over the three-day observation period, from 82.4% on the first day to 76.5% on the second day and 44.1% on the third day. Conclusion: Although nurses demonstrated good knowledge and understanding of dual patient identification, its implementation in daily practice was not yet optimal and was performed inconsistently.   Keywords: Dual Patient Identification; Hospital Safety; Nurse Compliance; Patient Identification; Patient Safety.
