Abstract

Background: Traditional markets play a crucial role as food distribution centers, but they also have the potential to become sources of environmental pollution and disease transmission if they do not meet sanitation requirements. The Ministry of Health conducted an environmental health analysis in 2017 of 448 traditional markets in 28 provinces. The results showed that only 10.94% of markets met environmental health standards, while 89.06% remained below the standards. Purpose: To analyze the implementation of the Healthy Market Program through aspects of market sanitation, security, and environmental health control. Method: This study used a qualitative approach, collecting data through in-depth interviews and direct observation at Angso Duo Baru Market in Jambi City in 2026. Results: While environmental sanitation and water quality met requirements, food safety, and facilities and buildings still did not meet standards. Regarding environmental security, waste and liquid waste management did not meet regulations, as indicated by the inadequate condition of the wastewater treatment plant (TPS) and the lack of a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). Regarding control, there was no structured vector control program, and rats, cockroaches, and flies were still found in the market area. Conclusion: The implementation of the healthy market program at the Angso Duo Baru Market in Jambi City has not fully met the standards of the Minister of Health Regulation No. 17 of 2020, so comprehensive and sustainable improvement efforts are needed.   Keywords: Control; Environmental Health; Healthy Market; ; Security; Sanitization.

Abstract

Background: Based on national data for 2024, the number of Tuberculosis (TB) cases in Indonesia remains quite high, with an estimated 1,092,000 TB cases and 23,858 TB deaths. Meanwhile, the number of new cases detected reached 856,420, with a treatment coverage (TC) of 78% and a Treatment Success Rate (TSR) of 88%. However, this coverage rate still falls short of the Ministry of Health's 2024 Strategic Plan target of 90%. Successful TB elimination depends heavily on two main pillars: complete treatment and new case detection, both active and passive. Purpose: To analyze the determinants of health worker performance in TB case detection. Method: This quantitative study used a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 65 health workers participating in TB case detection at Jambi City Community Health Centers (Puskesmas), drawn using total sampling, considering inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data collection used a questionnaire. Univariate, bivariate, and multivariate data analysis. Abstract

Background: Chronic progressive onset cephalgia is a neurological issue with a high disability burden, often leading to the nursing diagnosis of acute pain. Non-pharmacological interventions, such as Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR), are needed for effective pain management.  Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) in reducing acute pain intensity in a patient with chronic progressive cephalgia. Method: This study used a descriptive case study design in one adult patient with acute pain due to cephalgia. PMR intervention was administered twice daily for three days, with pain evaluation using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). Results: After three days of PMR intervention, the patient’s pain scale decreased from 7 (severe pain) to 3 (mild pain), indicating a significant reduction in pain intensity. Conclusion: The patient's initial pain scale was 7 (severe pain). After three days of PMR implementation, the patient's pain intensity decreased significantly to 3 (mild pain). PMR is effective in reducing the intensity of acute pain in patients with chronic progressive cephalgia and is recommended as an independent nursing intervention.   Keywords: Acute Pain; Chronic Progressive Cephalgia; Progressive Muscle Relaxation

Abstract

Background: Academic achievement of nursing students is an important indicator of educational success as it reflects the academic and professional readiness of prospective nurses in facing the demands of clinical practice and the workforce. Theoretically, one internal factor believed to influence academic achievement is learning motivation, as motivation encourages students to actively engage in the learning process, sustain learning efforts, and achieve expected academic goals, particularly among nursing students who face complex academic and practical workloads. Purpose:  To determine the relationship between learning motivation and academic achievement among third-semester undergraduate nursing students. Results: Data analysis using the Spearman Rank correlation test showed a correlation coefficient of -0.025 with a significance value of p = 0.778, indicating no significant relationship between learning motivation and academic achievement among third-semester nursing students at Universitas ‘Aisyiyah Yogyakarta. The negative and very weak correlation suggests that differences in learning motivation levels were not followed by meaningful differences in Grade Point Average (GPA). Therefore, the null hypothesis (Ho) was accepted and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was rejected. Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between learning motivation and academic achievement among third-semester undergraduate nursing students.

Abstract

Background: Non-communicable disease (NCDs), particularly cardiovascular diseases, are the leading cause of death globally. One of the contributing risk factors is increased blood lipid levels, including total cholesterol and triglycerides, which can be influenced by smoking habits. Purpose: To describe total cholesterol and triglyceride levels among adult and elderly smokers. Method: This study used a descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach, with a sample of 36 respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and laboratory tests using the CHOD-PAP method for total cholesterol and GPO-PAP for triglycerides. Results: The majority of respondents were adults (55.6%) and elderly (44.4%). Based on smoking severity, the majority of respondents were categorized as moderate smokers (58.3%), light smokers (36.1%), and heavy smokers (5.6%). All respondents had smoked for more than 10 years (100%). The results showed normal total cholesterol levels in 66.7%, borderline levels in 19.4%, and high levels in 13.9%. Triglyceride levels were categorized as normal (77.8%), borderline levels in 13.9%, and high levels in 8.3%. The average total cholesterol level of respondents was 189.19 mg/dL, with a minimum value of 123 mg/dL and a maximum of 282 mg/dL. Meanwhile, the average triglyceride level was 117.28 mg/dL, with a minimum value of 41 mg/dL and a maximum value of 482 mg/dL. Conclusion: Most adult and elderly smokers had normal total cholesterol and triglyceride levels. However, borderline to high cholesterol and triglyceride levels were still found, especially in respondents with moderate to heavy smoking and smoking duration of more than 10 years. Age, smoking level, smoking duration, diet, and physical activity are suspected to influence total cholesterol and triglyceride levels in active smokers.   Keywords: Smokers; Total Cholesterol; Triglyceride.

Abstract

Background: Gunshot wounds are a complex form of traumatic injury that requires specialized expertise in forensic examination. In addition to causing tissue damage, gunshot wounds contain crucial ballistic information, including the type of weapon, caliber, type of ammunition, and the energy dynamics of the projectile upon contact with the body. The ability to distinguish between entry wounds (IWW) and exit wounds (IWW), as well as the interpretation of gunshot residue, is a key foundation in event reconstruction. The issue of firearm violence shows a significant global trend. Purpose: To conduct an in-depth analysis of forensic radiology and pathology findings in cases of deaths due to entry wounds and to determine the cause, mechanism, and nature of death. Method: This is a descriptive study using a case report approach. Data were obtained through a review of medical documents, forensic examination results of the corpse, a request for a post-mortem examination (Visum et Repertum) from investigators, and supporting information from the police investigation. All data were analyzed descriptively to describe the case findings and related medicolegal aspects. Results: The examination was conducted in the form of a complete autopsy, which included external and internal examinations of the corpse, at the Forensic Installation of the Hospital. Bhayangkara Mohammad Hasan Palembang. The internal examination included tracing the projectile's trajectory through various body cavities, documenting organ damage (lungs, liver, blood vessels), quantifying bleeding, and retrieval and identification of the projectile. Conclusion: Autopsy findings were combined with radiological examinations to confirm the projectile's position.   Keywords: Entrance Gunshot Wound; Forensic Autopsy; Forensic Radiology; Massive Hemorrhage.
