Abstract

Background: Diabetes Melitus (DM) is a chronic disease with a steadily increasing prevalence and a risk of various complications. One non-pharmacological intervention that can be implemented is diabetic foot exercises. Purpose: To determine the effectiveness of diabetic foot exercises on reducing blood sugar levels in patients with DM. Method: This quantitative study used a quasi-experimental design using a pre-test and post-test approach without a control group. The sample size was 10 respondents using a total sampling technique. The intervention, diabetic foot exercises, was carried out for 30 minutes. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. Results: The mean blood sugar level before the intervention was 246.1 mg/dL and after the intervention was 202.9 mg/dL. The Wilcoxon test showed a p-value of 0.005 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect. Conclusion: Diabetic foot exercises given to patients with DM are effective in lowering blood sugar levels during treatment. 30-minute session of diabetic foot exercises resulted in an average reduction in blood sugar levels.   Keywords: Blood Sugar Levels; Diabetes Mellitus; Diabetic Foot Exercise; Physical Activity.

Abstract

Background: Bronchopneumonia is a common lower respiratory tract infection in children and has the potential to cause impaired gas exchange and recurrent hospitalizations. This case report aims to describe the effectiveness of the semi-Fowler's position and health education in improving the clinical condition and the family's role. The case involved a 17-month-old girl with a history of recurrent bronchopneumonia who was admitted with complaints of shortness of breath and a productive cough. Purpose: Nursing care focused on providing the semi-Fowler's position to improve pulmonary ventilation and providing health education to the family regarding home care, recurrence prevention, and hygienic and healthy living practices. Method: Evaluation was conducted through monitoring the clinical condition and the family's level of understanding over four days of treatment. Results: Respiratory improvement was demonstrated, characterized by decreased respiratory rate, increased oxygen saturation, and reduced sputum production. Furthermore, family knowledge and compliance with self-care practices increased. Conclusion: The semi-Fowler's position combined with health education was effective in improving the respiratory status of children with recurrent bronchopneumonia and strengthening the family's role in preventing recurrence and recurrent hospitalizations.   Keywords: Bronchopneumonia; Family Role; Health Education; Respiratory Status; Semi-Fowler Position.

Abstract

Background: Insufficient physical activity is a condition in which individuals do not meet recommended levels of physical activity, involving various body movements that require energy, influenced by sociodemographic factors, smoking behavior, and obesity, and contributing to an increased risk of noncommunicable diseases. Purpose: To determine the factors associated with the incidence of physical inactivity among those aged 10-64 years. Method: This study employed a cross-sectional design with an analytical approach and secondary data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (SKI). Univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses were conducted. Results: Most respondents reported low physical activity, with characteristics predominantly being of productive age, female, having secondary education, working, living in rural areas, non-smoking, and non-obese. Bivariate analysis showed a significant association between age, gender, occupation, and smoking behavior with low physical activity, while education, residence, and central obesity were not associated. The final multivariate analysis showed that age was the dominant factor associated with low physical activity among residents aged 10–64 years in Jambi Province. Conclusion: There was a relationship between age, gender, occupation, and smoking behavior with the incidence of low physical activity. Abstract

Background: Postoperative pain is a common problem that can delay the patient’s recovery process. Non-pharmacological therapy is needed as a complementary approach to pharmacological treatment, which may have side effects. Lavender aromatherapy is a non-pharmacological intervention that has the potential to reduce pain intensity. Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of lavender aromatherapy in reducing pain intensity among postoperative patients. Methods: Quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest approach without a control group. The sample consisted of 12 patients within the first 24 hours after surgery in the inpatient ward of RSUD dr. Tjitrowardojo Purworejo. Pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) before and after the intervention. The evaluation was conducted 30 minutes after the administration of lavender aromatherapy. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Results: The mean pain score was 5,75 before the intervention and decreased to 3,00 after the intervention. Statistical analysis showed a p-value of 0,002 (p < 0,05), indicating a significant reduction in pain intensity after the interventions of lavender aromatherapy. Conclusion: Lavender aromatherapy is effective in reducing postoperative pain intensity and can be used as a non-pharmacological therapy in pain management.   Keywords: Lavender Aromatherapy; Non-Pharmacological Therapy; Postoperative Pain,.

Abstract

Background: Occupational fatigue is a condition of decreased physical and mental capacity that can impact productivity and workplace safety. Non-medical staff in hospitals are at risk of experiencing fatigue due to administrative work demands, workload, and psychological stress. Purpose: To determine the relationship between length of service, workload, and job stress with job fatigue in non-medical staff. Method: This study used an observational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample in this study was 149 non-medical staff at Sekayu Regional Hospital. The sampling technique used accidental sampling. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-square test with a significance level of 0.05. Results: There was a relationship between length of service, workload, and job stress with job fatigue. Respondents with long tenure, high workload, and high job stress tended to experience more severe job fatigue. Conclusion: Length of service, workload, and job stress are associated with job fatigue in non-medical staff at Sekayu Regional Hospital.   Keywords: Length Of Service; Work Fatigue; Work-Related Stress; Workload.

Abstract

Background: Hearing impairment is a health problem that can reduce productivity at work. Workers who experience hearing impairment are not only identified through difficulties in speaking, but also through their physiological conditions. Purpose: To determine the factors associated with hearing impairment among coconut sellers using machines in the working area of Kuta Alam Community Health Center, Banda Aceh City, in 2025. Method: This study used a descriptive-analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 47 coconut sellers using machines. The sample was selected using a total population technique. The study was conducted from February 3 to February 9, 2025, using a validated questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square statistical test through SPSS. Results: The univariate analysis showed that hearing impairment was present in 55.3% of respondents; the majority were adults (66.0%); 87.2% were exposed to high noise frequency; 91.5% did not use hearing protection devices; 57.4% had abnormal working hours; and 61.7% had long working tenure. The bivariate analysis revealed a significant relationship between age (p-value = 0.042), noise frequency (p-value = 0.041), use of hearing protection devices (p-value = 0.020), working hours (p-value = 0.000), and length of employment (p-value = 0.000) with hearing impairment among coconut sellers using machines in the working area of Kuta Alam Community Health Center, Banda Aceh City, in 2025. Conclusion: Age, noise frequency, use of hearing protection devices, working hours, and length of employment significantly contribute to the risk of hearing impairment among coconut sellers using machines.   Keywords: Ear Protection; Hearing Impairment; Noise Frequency.

Abstract

Background: Nurses are professionals who play a central role in providing high-quality healthcare to patients. Low levels of commitment and professionalism among nurses can have a direct impact on the hospital’s reputation and the quality of care received by patients. Purpose: To analyze the influence of career pathing and socio-economic quality of life on the commitment and professionalism of nurses. Method: This is a correlational analytical study. The study population comprised all nurses at Aisyiyah Kudus Hospital, totalling 133 nurses. The sample size was 100 nurses, selected using inclusion and exclusion criteria, namely nurses who were permanent staff and had been working for over one year. This study utilised questionnaires on career pathing, socio-economic status, nurses’ commitment, and nurses’ professionalism. Data analysis employed the Spearman’s rank correlation test Results: The study findings indicate that the majority of respondents reported a ‘good’ career pathing category, totalling 66 (66%). Regarding quality of life, 72% were in a ‘good’ socio-economic condition. The majority of respondents demonstrated high commitment (49, 49%) towards their work and exhibited a high level of professionalism (47, 47%). Conclusion: The results of the study indicated that career pathing (p=0.000; r=0.623) and socio-economic quality of life (p=0.000; r=0.551) influence nurses’ commitment at Aisyiyah Kudus Hospital, while career pathing (p=0.000; r=0.549) and socio-economic quality of life (p=0.000, r=0.638) influence on nurses’ professionalism at Aisyiyah Kudus Hospital   Keywords: Career Pathing; Commitment; Profesionalism; Quality Of Life.

Abstract

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) continue to be significant public health problems with high morbidity and mortality rates (WHO, 2023). Integrating TB-HIV services in primary health care facilities is crucial to improve early detection, treatment continuity, and quality of care (WHO, 2021). However, the implementation of integrated TB-HIV services in community health centers (Puskesmas) still faces various managerial challenges. Purpose: This study aims to identify factors associated with the implementation of integrated TB-HIV services in community health centers (Puskesmas). Method: This quantitative analytical study used a cross-sectional approach. This study was conducted in 20 community health centers in Jambi City from January to March 2026. The sample consisted of 60 health workers selected through a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a validated questionnaire with good reliability. Univariate analysis was conducted to describe the distribution of variables, while bivariate analysis used the Chi-Square test with a 95% significance level and the Fisher exact test. Results: Planning had a significant relationship with the implementation of TB-HIV service integration (p-value = 0.019; PR = 4.50), implementation also had a significant relationship (p-value = 0.019; PR = 4.50), and control also showed a significant relationship (p-value = 0.004; PR = 5.57). Meanwhile, organization did not show a significant relationship with the implementation of TB-HIV service integration (p-value = 0.356). Conclusion: Planning, implementation, and supervision are closely related to the implementation of TB-HIV service integration in community health centers.   Keywords: Actuating; Controlling; Organizing; Planning,Public Health Center; TB-HIV Integration.

Abstract

Background: The implementation of the one health program in community health centers still faces various specific challenges, including limited resources and differences in digital literacy among health workers, with relatively low utilization rates, which have the potential to hinder the achievement of health resources target. Purpose: To analyze the relationship between human, organizational and technological factors with the use of the one healthy application among health workers at community health centers. Method: This study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample size was 105, selected using random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and then analyzed using univariate, bivariate and multivariate methods. Results: The proportion of users of the One Healthy application was 57.4%. The results of the study showed a relationship between system use(p=0,000), information quality(p=0,000), and net benefit (p=0,006) with the use of the One Healthy application. Meanwhile, user satisfaction(p=0,066), organizational structure(p=0,658) and organizational environment(p=0,101), system quality(p=0,781), and service quality(p=0,653) did not show a relationship with the use of the One Healthy application among health workers in community health centers. Conclusion: There is a relationship between system use, information quality, and net benefit with the use of the SATU SEHAT application. Meanwhile, user satisfaction, organizational structure and environment, system quality, and service quality do not show any relationship with the use of the SATU SEHAT application.   Keywords: Hot-Fit Model; Human Factors; Healthcare Workers; Primary Healthcare Center; Satu Sehat Application.

Abstract

Abstract   Background: Public sector employees often face high work demands, particularly in computer-based tasks. One of the health problems commonly associated with these activities is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS). Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Daerah (BAPPEDA) is a regional technical institution responsible for regional development planning, involving intensive administrative activities such as data processing, report preparation, and virtual meetings, which often require computer use for 4–8 hours per day. Purpose: to analyze the factors associated with the occurrence of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) among employees of Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Daerah (BAPPEDA). Method: This study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 75 employees selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and observations, then analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square test. Results: The majority of respondents reported CTS complaints (72%). The results showed significant relationships between age (p=0.000), gender (p=0.005), work period (p=0.000), and repetitive movements (p=0.002) with the occurrence of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) among employees of Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Daerah (BAPPEDA). Meanwhile, medical history (p=0.097) and body mass index (BMI) (p=0.697) did not show significant relationships with the occurrence of CTS. Conclusion: Age, gender, work period, and repetitive movements were significantly associated with the occurrence of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) among employees of Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Daerah (BAPPEDA).
