Abstract

Galatians 3:28 is one of the Biblical texts that supports equality between women and men. However, this verse is not widely used to provide an understanding of opportunities for women to serve in the church. Therefore, by using the Epistolary Approach, an understanding based on Galatians 3:28 regarding women's service opportunities in the church can be obtained. This understanding is first that Galatians 3:28 provides a positive attitude towards women's ministry in the church, namely that Galatians 3:28 supports women's ministry, because women's ministry is one of the implications and results of the true Gospel delivered by the apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ. Then secondly, Galatians 3:28 gives a positive impression of women's opportunities to serve the church as something that is expected.

Abstract

The mangenta tradition is an agricultural tradition among the Ngaju Dayak tribe. This tradition is also practiced among the congregation members of the GKE Mandomai Church. Research on the mangenta tradition, as far as the team knows, has never explored its theological meaning. Therefore, the team researched and wrote about it. This research was conducted qualitatively. The initial investigation was done by examining writings related to local wisdom, the mangenta tradition and Mandomai. After that, the team was on location observing and interviewing various informants and phenomena related to the mangenta tradition. After that, the writing team formulated the theological meanings associated with these traditions. The team found that this tradition has begun to be uprooted among members of the GKE Mandomai congregation. Even though, the theological values contained therein are very valuable to maintain. The theological meanings found include togetherness or kapakat, unity or kahinje, expressions of gratitude/kahanjak, intimacy/kasene arep/tawan ekae and accuracy/pas, dia labih, dia kurang.

There are three findings in the Piwara'an Tradition, namely that Dayak Maanyan people in Palu Rejo Village want to build a family that respects culture, there is an understanding that marriage and family are part of social events in the community, and marriage and efforts to build a family have a connection with God. The Piwara'an tradition reminds that there is a close relationship between humans and others, as well as humans and God that must continue to be built.

Abstract

This study aims to respond to stereotypes and discrimination experienced by women who work as housewives. The author responds to this problem by reinterpreting the story of Abigail in 1 Samuel 25:2-44. The research method in this paper uses the seeing-through approach. The perspective lens used is the pairan dapo’ concept in Mamasa, West Sulawesi. The author finds that the text of 1 Samuel 25:2-44 describes Abigail as a housewife who does not just stay home and always submits to her husband's orders and decisions. Abigail has the space and role to criticize Nabal's wrong attitudes and actions. Abigail's actions become reflective material for constructing that housewife can play a role in seeking the welfare of their families. This role does not lie in an economic role, but rather wisdom and knowledge of ethical values to criticize her husband and family.

This method explores narrative elements, such as: implied author and narrator; point of view and ideology; narration and time narration; plot; setting; characterization; and implied reader. Characterization of characters is done with the following step, such as: 1) Character analysis and classification, and 2) Total reconsturction of character. This writing specifically delves the narration inside the text of Luke 24:1-12 in accordance to elements mentioned above in order to provide the reader implications for living the live as a Christian nowadays. The result shows that the narrative analysis character reconstruction carried out in this text can enrich readers to understand Luke 24:1-12 as a whole narrative text. This article aims to reconstruct the church mission in the context of religious moderation. Religious moderation has led to the need to review the church's mission in the form of Christianization, stealing own, and the church's appearance in the public space that debates as conservative and liberal. This action has become a problem in the history of Christian encounters with other religions and internal church relations across denominations. The research approach in this paper is a library research. The author collected data through books and research journals related to religious moderation, missions, and the letter 1 Corinthians. The author finds that the church mission in 1 Corinthians is to be a congregation that avoids syncretism, internalizes religious identity and collective ethics, and uses love as the spirit to construct a solidary and missionary community.

Abstract

Poverty has become a critical issue in human life today, and tackling it is not the sole task of the government or institutions outside the religious realm. More than just a social responsibility, the existence of religion is key to actively participating in overcoming the problem of poverty, creating a providence for the creator in this world. To unravel this problem, the author will explore liberation theology as a framework to help religion play its critical role in alleviating poverty. Liberation theology, which grew up in social and economic inequality, offers a solid conceptual foundation to guide religion in poverty reduction efforts. Through this approach, religion is directed to be a voice that champions human rights and social justice and actively contributes to shaping progressive policies. Therefore, religion is a spiritual guide and a moral force that encourages real action. Religious participation in overcoming poverty is fulfilling a social calling and expressing the values of humanity and justice contained in religious teachings. Thus, liberation theology thinking becomes a relevant and essential tool to guide religion in manifesting its mission as an agent of change in defending those marginalized and impoverished. As a result, the joint efforts of religions to overcome poverty are not only a moral obligation but also a concrete manifestation of the commitment to create a more just and empowered world.
