Abstract

Abstract

The current coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, which has been spread all over the world since the beginning of 2020, has inevitably impacted all activities of the Indonesian nation, including those in the education sector. STT GKE is included. To prevent Covid-19 transmission spread widely, the government requires people to implementing social distancing (also called physical distancing). All universities, including STT GKE, have been mandated by the governments to close their campuses and to move learning activities online. Although the implementation of the health protocol was effective in controlling the spread of the disease, it hurts the students. Quantitative research conducted by the STT GKE research team from August to December 2000 concluded that the implementation of the protocol (social distancing, including online learning) caused the cohesion among students to get lost.

Abstract

The covid-19 pandemic has changed people's living arrangements in all areas: socially, economically, culturally, educationally, and politically. The whole world is affected, as are the Indonesians. The education sector is a sector that is quite affected by covid-19. Schools from elementary to college level must strive to adjust to survive the Pandemic while still being able to carry out their teaching well. This paper is the result of field research that seeks to discover how teachers perform their teaching obligations. The research was conducted through an online survey of elementary school teachers in Palangka Raya city, Central Kalimantan province. Elementary school teachers in Palangka Raya city are getting around this limitation by doing online teaching, although for that they have to struggle in various ways. There are three findings from this study, namely: firstly, elementary school teachers in Palangka Raya city have not been prepared to teach online because they do not get training on the use of IT in an integrated way, but only learn from friends or learn by themselves. Secondly, teachers use WhatsApp media more so that it is limited in teaching. Teachers also rely on personal data packages because most have not received assistance from the government or the school and thirdly, because of these limitations, the limited creativity of teachers makes the scope of teaching can not be implemented to the maximum.

Abstract

This article is based-research rooted in the reality and impact of Pandemic Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) worldwide from the beginning of 2020. The Pandemic has changed and harmed many aspects of life: health, social culture, economy, politic, education, and religion: killing 1,8 million people and infecting 83 million people in 222 countries. The impacts of the Pandemic have also come to Kalimantan Island - Indonesia as the mission field of GKE. Considering the various impacts of the Pandemic, the mission and wisdom of the GKE District Board (Majelis Resort GKE) are very urgent and helpful to overcome the Pandemic. The capacity of the quick and right response to the crucial situation proves the excellence and quality of the GKE District Board Leadership (MRGKE). The Board has developed creativity, innovation, and contextualization of ministry as pieces of evidence of church leaders during the Pandemic. Doing ministries on virtual worship for the availability of internet access in some congregations, yet home visitation as part of worship in other congregations. Practicing virtual meetings, WA-Call pastoral, creative fund-raising for the change of financial condition, the new adaptation of social and ethical attitude by physical distancing and health protocol. The GKE Districts have struggled within their dynamic life: on their strength and weakness. The pandemic reality and leadership dynamics of the District Board were processed through qualitative research with the methods of collecting data by interviews and resource study. The process of description and analysis were conducted by descriptive technique: the data of research classified within categorized within a parallel pattern then described within the similar themes. The final analysis anchors to the six solving – a recommendation to the Leadership (Leader) of GKE District Board (both in Pandemic time or Normal): the intensity and creativity of worship, the effectivity of face-by-face encounter, the mastering and application of technology, new fund-raising and creative financial source, the strengthening of pastoral and diaconal ministry, and the development of networking.

Abstract

The birth of a child is a great joy for a family. Generally, husband and wife are more hopeful about having children than any other desire. Even though many couples delay having children, in the end, the presence of a child will bring great satisfaction to them. Infertility is an essential issue for married couples when it comes to God's blessing on the promise of offspring. How does the Bible answer this? Is infertility the work of God and his will? The method used in this article is the research library method using sources from literature, while the outlines that are described are: discussing the promise of descent, the biblical perspective on infertility, cultural perspectives on infertility, a prayer asking for offspring, understanding the theological meaning of infertility, and finally, that infertility cannot be viewed as a curse or punishment.

Abstract

Grief caused by the death of a family member due to the COVID-19 pandemic is often not handled with a holistic approach that includes physical, psychological, social, and spiritual factors. This research was carried out using a qualitative method and a holistic approach initiated by Howard Clinebell and J.D. Engel. This study aims to understand the situation, conditions, and needs during the mourning period and when family members are exposed to the COVID-19 virus. This research was conducted at the GKE Palangka I Congregation, Palangka Raya City. This study found that the church's pastoral approach was not holistic. The church tends to take a very minimal approach. The majority of what church administrators do is spiritual service. A holistic pastoral approach requires assistance from the church in all areas, including physical, psychological, social, and spiritual. It is this approach that church members need.

Abstract

The encounter of culture, tradition, and religion will give birth to a characteristic understanding of a particular phenomenon. There are times when everything will be balanced, but there are times when one will dominate, and the other will fade away. This research found the presence of the spirit world in the GKE Damit congregation. It was found that the influence of Javanese tradition and culture is still felt. Although not too dominant anymore, it has been mixed with the understanding of Banjarese Islam and Dayak Christianity. This phenomenon is inseparable from the fact that the majority of the followers of the GKE Damit Congregation. Most of them have Javanese cultural backgrounds, live amongst the Banjar Muslim community, and are served mainly by priests with Dayak backgrounds. This reality is very distinctive because the Javanese, Banjar, and Dayak traditions are very significant. Obedience to Christianity is precisely the most dominating, understanding that the power of Jesus Christ is above all things. They believe Jesus Christ is far more powerful than the spirits in this world.
