Abstract

This study aims to explore the meaning of the poem “Doa” (Prayer) by Chairil Anwar through Roland Barthes’ semiotic approach. The analysis focuses on three layers of meaning: denotation, connotation, and myth. The findings reveal that “Doa” contains deep spiritual and existential dimensions that cannot be interpreted superficially but require a close and layered reading to uncover its hidden meanings. Using Barthes’ semiotic theory—which emphasizes the three levels of meaning—an examination of the poem’s lines unveils the symbolic complexity crafted by the poet. Lines such as “At Your door I knock” and “I cannot turn away” denote simple actions, yet connotatively reflect the fragile human psyche filled with regret, longing, and hope for the divine. At the mythic level, the poem constructs an ideological narrative about the relationship between human beings and God within the context of modernity, where individuals face existential emptiness and ultimately seek refuge in the divine as their only source of meaning and stability.

Abstract

Abstract Poetry is a form of expression that conveys a poet's feelings through distinctive diction and language style. This study analyzes how language is used as a medium for emotional expression in Natasha Rizki's poem "Kepada Abu". Using a stylistic approach, this study examines the selection of diction, figurative language, and poetic structure that constructs emotional meaning. The findings show that the use of metaphors, symbols, and repetition in the poem strengthens the nuances of sadness and loss, allowing readers to experience the emotions the poet intends to convey. Furthermore, the poem demonstrates that language not only delivers as a tool for communication but also as a means to evoke readers' feelings and create a profound emotional connection. The language in this poem conveys messages not only intellectually but also emotionally, proving that literary works have an extraordinary power to explore the depth of human emotions. Thus, "Kepada Abu" becomes a testament to poetry's ability to connect the poet's personal expression with the reader's experience. Keywords: Poetry, language, emotional expression, stylistics, Natasha Rizki. Abstrak Puisi merupakan bentuk ekspresi yang menggambarkan perasaan penyair melalui diksi dan gaya bahasa khas. Penelitian ini menganalisis bagaimana bahasa dalam puisi "Kepada Abu" karya Natasha Rizki digunakan sebagai media ekspresi rasa. Dengan pendekatan stilistika, penelitian ini mengkaji pemilihan diksi, majas, dan struktur puisi yang membangun makna emosional. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan metafora, simbol, dan repetisi dalam puisi ini memperkuat nuansa kesedihan dan kehilangan, sehingga memungkinkan pembaca merasakan emosi yang ingin disampaikan penyair. Lebih jauh, puisi ini menunjukkan bahwa bahasa tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai alat komunikasi, tetapi juga sebagai sarana yang mampu menggugah perasaan pembaca dan menciptakan koneksi emosional yang mendalam. Bahasa dalam puisi ini tidak hanya menyampaikan pesan secara intelektual, melainkan juga secara emosional, membuktikan bahwa karya sastra memiliki kekuatan luar biasa dalam menggali kedalaman perasaan manusia. Dengan begitu, "Kepada Abu" menjadi bukti nyata bahwa puisi mampu menjembatani ekspresi personal penyair dengan pengalaman batin pembacanya. Abstract

Morfologi afiksasi merupakan aspek fundamental dalam pembentukan kata dalam bahasa Jerman yang melibatkan penambahan morfem terikat berupa prefiks, sufiks, konfiks, atau infiks pada kata dasar. Kajian ini bertujuan menganalisis secara komprehensif proses afiksasi dalam bahasa Jerman serta mengkaji implikasinya terhadap pembelajaran bahasa Jerman, khususnya dalam konteks pendidikan bahasa asing. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan studi literatur dari berbagai sumber primer dan sekunder terpercaya. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa afiksasi dalam bahasa Jerman tidak hanya berperan dalam pembentukan nomina, verba, dan adjektiva, tetapi juga mempengaruhi makna dan fungsi kata secara signifikan. Implikasi pembelajaran menuntut penguasaan sistem afiksasi sebagai dasar untuk memahami struktur kata, memperkaya kosakata, dan meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa secara produktif dan reseptif.

Abstract

This research aims to analyse how feminist representation is shown by the main character in the novel Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with library research technique. The research data are dialogues and monologues in the novel identified as feminist representations. This research refers to Simone de Beauvoir's concept of Existentialist Feminism. The results show that the discrimination experienced by the main character is gender-based discrimination related to criticism of her appearance. In the aspect of education, Anne faces social barriers that limit women from accessing higher education and pursuing careers. The efforts made by the main character to free herself from all forms of discrimination received are by showing independence and strong determination in achieving her goals. Through the efforts made by the main character to fight discriminatory attitudes, Anne represents a woman who dares to oppose discrimination and fight for gender equality.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap bagaimana representasi feminis ditunjukkan oleh tokoh utama dalam novel Anne of Green Gables karya L.M. Montgomery. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik studi kepustakaan (library research). Data penelitian berupa dialog dan monolog dalam novel yang teridentifikasi sebagai representasi feminis. Penelitian ini mengacu pada konsep Feminisme Eksistensialis Simone de Beauvoir. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa diskriminasi yang dialami oleh tokoh utama yaitu diskriminasi berbasis gender terkait kritik atas penampilannya. Pada aspek pendidikan, Anne menghadapi hambatan sosial yang membatasi perempuan untuk mengakses pendidikan tinggi dan mengejar karier. Upaya yang dilakukan oleh tokoh utama untuk membebaskan diri dari segala bentuk diskriminasi yang diterima adalah dengan menunjukkan kemandirian dan tekad kuat dalam mencapai tujuannya. Melalui upaya yang dilakukan tokoh utama untuk melawan sikap diskriminatif, Anne merepresentasikan sosok perempuan yang berani menentang diskriminasi dan memperjuangkan kesetaraan gender.

Abstract

Tulisan ini mengkaji sistem interdisipliner yang mencakup kajian sosiolinguistik, semiotik, dan psikolinguistik dengan menyoroti keterkaitan ketiganya dalam memahami bahasa sebagai fenomena sosial dan kognitif. Sosiolinguistik memberikan pemahaman tentang variasi dan fungsi bahasa dalam konteks sosial, sementara semiotik menawarkan alat analisis terhadap tanda dan simbol sebagai unsur dasar komunikasi. Di sisi lain, psikolinguistik membahas proses mental yang mendasari pemahaman, produksi, dan pemerolehan bahasa. Melalui integrasi ketiga disiplin ini, studi ini bertujuan membangun kerangka kerja komprehensif untuk menangkap kompleksitas komunikasi manusia. Pendekatan interdisipliner ini menunjukkan bahwa bahasa tidak hanya sebagai sarana penyampaian informasi, tetapi juga sebagai cerminan nilai budaya, identitas, dan struktur kognitif. Sintesis ini memberikan kontribusi pada pengembangan kajian linguistik serta mendukung aplikasi praktis dalam bidang pendidikan, komunikasi, dan studi budaya.

Abstract

This study uses a qualitative-descriptive method with a literary approach, especially a sociological and psychological approach to literature. This method was chosen because it is appropriate for revealing the meaning contained in literary texts in depth, especially those related to social dynamics and the psychological conditions of the characters in the short story. This approach also allows researchers to analyze how social structures and environmental pressures influence the main character's inner journey in finding their identity. The short story "Badai yang Reda" by Fauzia A describes the main character's inner journey in finding their identity amidst social pressure and psychological conflict. From a social perspective, this story highlights the role of the environment, family, and expectations of coastal communities that shape the character's identity. The main character experiences a dilemma between her desire for freedom and her attachment to tradition and social obligations. This tension shows how social structures not only create roles, but also become a source of pressure that limits the individual's space to explore and express themselves.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze class conflict and forms of proletarian exploitation in the short story Jejak Tanah by Danarto through the lens of Marxist theory. The story portrays a structural conflict between property developers, representing the bourgeois class, and the marginalized community as the proletariat struggling to defend their land rights. This research employs a qualitative method with a critical literary text analysis approach to uncover intrinsic and extrinsic elements in the story that reflect social, political, and economic dynamics. The analysis reveals that Jejak Tanah voices a critique of modern capitalist practices, particularly in the form of land grabbing, structural violence, and repression of popular resistance. The story also contains symbolic narratives that reflect class consciousness and the collective struggle of the proletariat against bourgeois domination. Thus, Danarto’s work not only aesthetically represents social injustice but also calls on readers to recognize the importance of solidarity in resisting oppression.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the form of social criticism in the poem “Diponegoro” by Chairil Anwar using stylistic and sociological literary approaches. Chairil Anwar, a prominent figure of the '45 Generation, is known for his revolutionary works that voice resistance against injustice. In this poem, Chairil resurrects the figure of Prince Diponegoro as a symbol of struggle and perseverance in the face of oppression. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method with content analysis techniques to examine the poem’s diction, figurative language, symbols, and meanings, as well as its connection to the socio-political context of post-independence Indonesia. The analysis reveals that “Diponegoro” is not only a tribute to a national hero but also rich in social criticism towards the decline of revolutionary ideals in the post-independence era. The linguistic elements such as repetition, metaphor, and heroic imagery demonstrate the poem’s expressive power in awakening readers' awareness and spirit. The poem serves as both a medium of cultural resistance and a call to continue fighting against new forms of oppression during the development era. Thus, Chairil Anwar's work proves to hold strong social relevance and reflects the realities of his time through literary aesthetics.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze characterization in the short story "Senyum Karyamin" by Ahmad Tohari using a descriptive qualitative method and content analysis technique. The results show that Karyamin, the main character, is portrayed as patient, resilient, and optimistic despite living in poverty. Supporting characters such as Saidah, Sarji, and the village official strengthen the social and humanitarian themes, reflecting the reality of the lower-class society. The characterization is analyzed based on role, function, character development, and social representation.

Abstract

Puisi merupakan media ekspresi yang kaya akan nuansa dan makna, terutama ketika diperkaya oleh penggunaan gaya bahasa yang khas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji aspek gaya bahasa dalam puisi-puisi karya Natasha Rizky yang terangkum dalam buku Catatan Kronik. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, penelitian ini memusatkan perhatian pada tiga puisi pilihan: Kawan Bagai Kekasih, Seni Melihat Lagi, dan Langkah Kecil. Ketiga puisi tersebut dipilih karena dianggap mewakili keragaman dan kedalaman gaya bahasa yang digunakan penyair dalam mengungkapkan pesan dan perasaannya. Analisis menunjukkan bahwa tiap puisi menghadirkan corak gaya bahasa yang berbeda. Puisi Kawan Bagai Kekasih sarat dengan metafora dan hiperbola yang memperkuat tema loyalitas dan kasih persahabatan. Seni Melihat Lagi menampilkan paradoks dan aforisme yang merefleksikan perenungan hidup. Sementara itu, Langkah Kecil memperlihatkan kekuatan simbol dan personifikasi dalam menyampaikan makna perpisahan dan pertumbuhan. Hasil ini menegaskan bahwa gaya bahasa memiliki peran penting dalam membentuk estetika dan kedalaman makna puisi. Penelitian ini membuktikan pentingnya pendekatan gaya bahasa dalam memahami dan mengapresiasi karya sastra secara lebih mendalam.
