Several studies on waste issues in the Global South still echo a pessimistic voice about waste management. Few citizens of the Global South view waste not merely as dirty objects but as valuable residual resources. This single case study reveals something different. The waste management practices carried out by two urban community groups in East Jakarta, Indonesia, namely Kelompok Tani Hutan (KTH) of Rumah Kaum Jayakarta and Bank Sampah Pintar (BSP) of Pok Lisa in the Agroeduwisata Jayakarta Program, show that these groups have views and practices of waste management that are not only environmentally beneficial but also economically and culturally advantageous. This program was implemented and developed in collaboration with CSR PT ANTAM Tbk UBPP Logam Mulia. The findings of this study show that waste is treated not as dirty and damaged material but can instead be converted into gold. The practices carried out by the groups in this program align with the concept of sustainable city development.

This study aims to explore the impact of Green Marketing practices on the financial performance of companies in Indonesia, focusing on variables such as Environmental Practices, Consumer Knowledge, and Company Commitment. The research method used involves quantitative analysis by collecting data through questionnaires distributed to managers and staff in the banking sector. The data obtained were then analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques, including validity, reliability, and direct effect hypothesis testing. The results of the study indicate that Company Commitment has the most significant influence on Financial Impact, followed by Environmental Practices. Although Consumer Knowledge does not show a significant direct effect, the application of digital technology and funding of green projects generally contribute positively to financial results. This study also identified that the integration of environmentally friendly practices can improve operational efficiency and brand reputation, as well as meet the demands of consumers who are increasingly concerned about environmental issues. These findings provide strategic guidance for companies to optimize sustainable marketing practices and achieve long-term benefits.

The satisfaction of beneficiaries from an implemented program is a crucial indicator in measuring the effectiveness of the empowerment program. This satisfaction reflects the extent to which the program meets the needs and expectations of the community and their impact on the welfare improvement of the beneficiaries. One of the empowerment programs of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of PT Pertamina EP Sangasanga Field in Kampung Lama Village, involving the Kelompok Sadar Wisata (Pokdarwis) and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), achieved a Community Satisfaction Index (CSI) score of 95%. However, these results are still statistical and have not been reviewed from the perspective of the four pillars of village Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This study aimed to describe the beneficiary satisfaction of the ESHL Program in Kampung Lama Village from the perspective of the four pillars of village SDGs. With this aim, a descriptive qualitative study was conducted by analyzing the archives or documents related to the empowerment program. The analysis was done using the Miles & Huberman method, followed by data validation through data triangulation and corroboration with relevant sources. The results show that all four pillars of the village SDGs are met, both directly and indirectly, regarding social, economic, environmental, legal, and village governance aspects. From planning to execution, the program is seen as mature, resulting in the beneficiaries being highly satisfied with the existing empowerment program.

This article examines how the artists Marina Abramović and Mladen Miljanović appre-hend the terms Balkan and Europe as frameworks for understanding the post-communist transition in the countries of the former Yugoslavia. Abramović’s representations of pagan sex rituals in Balkan Erotic Epic (2005) and tombstone engravings in Miljanović’s The Garden of Earthly Delights (2013) capture what I describe as “halfway traditions”: cultural practices that simultaneously problematize the normative teleology of the Balkans moving away from primitivism and toward the civilization of Europe, and act as parodies of the nationalist reinvention of tradition. By highlighting “halfway tradition” as the symbol of the post-communist transitional state and a disruptive by-product of transition, Abramović and Miljanović critique ethnonationalis politics of death and sex, and articulate an “in--between” temporality that disrupts the teleology of transition.

Mangoes are a widely cultivated commodity, integral to the identity and economy of Indramayu Regency. However, mango cultivation faces significant challenges, primarily due to climate change and soil degradation. These two factors negatively affect the quantity and quality of mango production, threatening the sustainability of local agriculture and farmers’ livelihoods. In response, Pertamina Patra Niaga Integrated Terminal Balongan, in collaboration with the Salam Tani Farmer Group in Sliyeg Lor Village, initiated the Biodiversity Cultivation Sanctuary Center (Pusat Suaka Budidaya Keanekaragaman Hayati/PUSAKA BUMI) program as an effort to conserve the local Indramayu mango (Mangifera indica) varieties. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this paper aims to explain the biodiversity conservation efforts, particularly for local mango varieties in Indramayu Regency, through the PUSAKA BUMI Program and its environmental impacts. The results show that the local mango conservation efforts are manifested in two ways. First, the implementation of Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) involves developing a botanical garden equipped with a greenhouse and smart farming systems to create environmental adaptations to climate change. Second, the Bio-Retra innovation utilizes agricultural biomass residues to produce biochar and liquid organic fertilizer as a replacement for chemical fertilizers to restore soil health.

Climate change is a global phenomenon that has led to an increase in the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events. The American continent, spanning from the Arctic to the Antarctic, is particularly vulnerable to these changes. This paper examines the impacts of extreme climate events, such as hurricanes, wildfires, droughts, and heavy rainfall, on both North and South America. We analyze the underlying causes of these events, including anthropogenic factors and natural climate variability, and explore their consequences on ecosystems, economies, and human health. By reviewing recent data and case studies, we identify the most affected regions and sectors. Furthermore, this paper discusses various adaptation strategies implemented across the continent, evaluating their effectiveness and proposing improvements. Our findings emphasize the importance of integrated approaches that combine scientific research, policy-making, and community engagement to enhance resilience against future climate challenges. The study aims to contribute to the ongoing discourse on climate adaptation and provide actionable insights for stakeholders at all levels.
