Abstract

In the last decade, the principles of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) have become not just a trend but a business paradigm for companies. This aligns with the increasing praxis of the ‘S’ or social aspect in ESG, which companies implement through CSR programs. This study, employing a qualitative approach through a single case study type, specifically highlights the Pengembangan Petani Madu Sari Alam Semberah (TAMU SARAH) CSR Program conducted by PT Pertamina EP Sangatta-Semberah Field. The findings of this study indicate that the CSR program praxis is relevant to the company’s ESG principles, which can be measured through, first, community engagement in community development praxis. This praxis has strengthened the relationship between the company and the local community. The second is local content. Through the CSR program, the company not only creates group satisfaction with the ongoing program but also tends to contribute to the pleasure and happiness of group members. The last one is the indirect economic impact. Through ECON-ESG measurements, it was found that the Pengembangan Petani Madu Sari Alam Semberah (TAMU SARAH) CSR program does not lead to a decrease in GDP; on the contrary, it positively contributes to macroeconomic conditions.

Abstract

This paper explores the nuanced role of monarchical systems in governance, focusing on their impact on political stability, the preservation of tradition, and the integration of democratic principles. By comparing various forms of monarchy—absolute and constitutional—across different historical and cultural contexts, the study evaluates how monarchies contribute to the political and social framework of nations. Absolute monarchies, where the monarch holds substantial power, often result in centralized governance but can stifle democratic processes and civil liberties. Conversely, constitutional monarchies, where the monarch serves as a symbolic head of state, have successfully adapted to modern democratic norms, providing political continuity and stability without undermining democratic institutions. Through case studies from Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, this research highlights the adaptability of monarchical systems in balancing tradition with modernity. The analysis reveals that in some contexts, monarchies have acted as stabilizing forces during times of political upheaval, while in others, their rigidity has led to stagnation and resistance to democratic reforms. The paper concludes that the impact of monarchy on governance is complex and multifaceted, shaped by the historical, cultural, and political environment in which it operates. Monarchies that embrace democratic integration tend to foster stability and continuity, whereas those that resist such integration may contribute to long-term political challenges.

Abstract

For some environmentalists, issues such as erosion, flooding, and landslides caused by an abundance of water are considered purely environmental problems. However, multiple case studies conducted in Karangrena Village, specifically in the Serayu Watershed, reveal a different perspective. By examining two interrelated programs the Biodiversity Protection and Reforestation Program of the Serayu Watershed, which has been implemented since 2013, followed by the CSR Program “Kampung Kreatif Karisma Pertamina” (K3P) that began in 2020 and continues to this day valuable reflections and findings have emerged. First, the issue of water as an environmental entity cannot be separated from social, economic, and even cultural aspects of life. Second, an abundance of water does not automatically equate to easy access to water. Third, solutions to water-related problems cannot be resolved through purely environmental efforts. Fourth, among communities living in the Serayu Watershed, perceptions of water are not singular; on one hand, water can be a threat as it is a source of disasters such as erosion, flooding, and landslides. On the other hand, water is a valuable resource, although the abundance of water can sometimes be difficult for them to access. Thus, the two programs facilitated by PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Fuel Terminal Maos, in collaboration with community groups in Karangrena Village, have gradually been able to address social, economic, environmental, and cultural issues in the Serayu Watershed.

Abstract

South Sangatta Village possesses numerous potentials for development. One such potential is the presence of Trigona SP honey bee colonies that can produce honey. Honey bees are non-timber forest products with a relatively high market value. PT Pertamina EP Sangatta recognizes this as an opportunity for empowerment. In collaboration with the farmer group and Pokdarwis Trigona Reborn, PT Pertamina EP Sangatta Field, through its CRS program, seeks to develop the honey bee garden into an agro-edutourism area. This aligns with the aspirations of South Sangatta Village which aims to transform the Sangatta area into a tourism and educational hub focused on Trigona honey bees. This study aims to examine the implementation of the agro-edutourism area development program conducted by PT Pertamina EP Sangatta Field in collaboration with farmer groups and Pokdarwis Trigona Reborn. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach, focusing on the CSR Program of Kebun Kelulut Sangatta. Research findings indicate that the Kebun Kelulut Sangatta agro-edutourism program is a sustainable tourism initiative emphasizing local community participation. There is evidence of improved welfare, demonstrated by increased income from honey sales and tourist visits to Kebun Kelulut Sangatta. Therefore, it can be concluded that the transformation of the Kebun Kelulut into an agro-tourism site has positively impacted the economic conditions and improved the welfare of the local community.

The method used in this research is a qualitative approach withdescriptive type. The theory used in this research is the theory of conflict-causing factors from SimonFisher and the concept of political conflict from Ramlan Surbakti. From the research that was conducted,it was found that some factors caused the political conflicts. Firstly, a sense of distrust from themanagement of the regional executive Board of Hanura Political Party in West Sumatera towards OsmanSapta Odang. Secondly, the Chief of Regional Executive Board of Hanura Political Party in WestSumatera was disappointed about Wiranto's inability to take an outright stance regarding the conflictsthat occurred in the management. Thirdly, a lack of mutual respect between senior and junior figures ofthe Hanura Political Party in West Sumatera. Fourthly, different opinions about party managementbetween Osman Sapta Odang's side and Daryatmo's side. The political conflict in Hanura hasimplications for the replacement of the chairman of the Regional Representative Council of the Republicof Indonesia and the dismissal of 10 Hanura Political Party members from the Regional House ofRepresentatives in West Sumatera, who are on Daryatmo's side; therefore the dismissed cadres chose toswitch parties.

Abstract

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are universally applicable, have become a primary focus across various sectors. One of the issues related to the SDGs is environmental concerns, including biodiversity programs such as Underwater Nature Conservation. The Underwater Nature Conservation program was implemented by PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Fuel Terminal Tanjung Gerem in Sukarame Village, Pandeglang Regency, West Java, Indonesia. This conservation program was driven by various factors, including natural and human-related ones. This study aimed to describe the procedures or methods in Coral Reef Conservation and examine the role of this conservation effort in contributing to the Village SGDs, specifically within the context of the Environmental Pillar. To achieve this objective, a qualitative descriptive approach with document analysis was conducted. The results indicate that the Coral Reef Conservation Program by PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Fuel Terminal Tanjung Gerem significantly contributes to the 14th aspect, namely the Marine Environment Awareness in the Environmental Pillar of Village SDGs. Additionally, coral reef conservation improves water quality, prevents contamination, protects coastlines and other infrastructure, ensures sustainable fisheries and other habitats, reduces marine debris, absorbs CO2, aids in climate change adaptation, and mitigates flooding and erosion. This effort also contributes to five other aspects of the Environmental Pillar of Village SDGs, including aspects 6, 11, 12, 13, and 15.

Abstract

In many places around the world, riparian areas of rivers serve as arenas for both livelihood and conflict among various stakeholders. This is also true for the riparian area of the Ciliwung River in Cawang Village, East Jakarta, Indonesia, which possesses unique social, ecological, and political dynamics that can serve as a reference for studies on riparian zones in urban settings. By focusing on the journey of the Urban Ecoriparian Program initiated and implemented by the Kelompok Tani Saung Cawang and the Kelompok Siaga Air Ciliwung in collaboration with the CSR team of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga AFT Halim Perdanakusuma, this qualitative study highlights flood disaster mitigation efforts that have been in place since 2021. The findings of this study reveal, firstly, that the flood issues in the Cawang riparian area are not merely environmental problems but are also deeply rooted in social and political issues. Secondly, these issues are being addressed through the Ecoriparian Program by adapting to the unique challenges and experiences of the Cawang community, which has developed an involutive adaptation pattern to floods. Thirdly, this program’s alignment with the community’s adaptation pattern has led to broader acceptance and active participation from the Cawang community. Fourthly, the program has spurred various transformations, including individual, collective, and even political changes, as it has influenced and resulted in flood management policies at the village level. Fifthly, the resulting village-level policies demonstrate that the program has also contributed to political education for the Cawang community.

Abstract

Understanding the impact of ASF comprehensively is a crucial step in efforts to control and prevent future outbreaks. Therefore, an in-depth study is needed on the "Mortality and direct economic impact of African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak" on pigs in East Tomoni District. This study was conducted in East Tomoni District, East Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi Province. Given the population of more than 1001 people, 5% of the population (1,085 farmers) were used as research samples. This study uses a comprehensive approach to evaluate economic losses due to ASF in the Tomoni Timur District. By considering three main aspects, namely pig mortality, direct losses to pig farms, and government losses. The analysis results show that the mortality rate of pigs due to ASF in the ASF outbreak in Tomoni Timur District caused pig mortality of up to 99.46%, having a major impact on the livestock population and the local economy. The economic loss per household reached IDR 55 million, reflecting a significant impact on farmers. The government also bears the cost of handling more than IDR 1 billion, but the main burden remains on farmers. The high number of losses shows the importance of appropriate interventions to prevent similar impacts in the future. More effective prevention strategies need to be designed to reduce the risk of recurrence. The mortality rate of pigs in East Tomoni District due to ASF is very high.
