Abstract

In today's rapidly evolving technological landscape, social media has become a primary means of spending time by following others' lives and activities. One of the factors contributing to the phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FoMo) is the use of social media platforms. Among the various options available, Instagram has emerged as the top choice for the general public. This globally popular app offers various features for updating videos or photos, including the Instastory feature, which is filled with users' daily activities. From there, as viewers, we often feel anxious and compare our lives with others who seem happier or more interesting. This study aims to identify FoMo trends among FISIP UGJ students on Instagram. The method used in this study is qualitative, employing techniques such as interviews, observation on Instagram, and documentation. The informants in this study consist of five students selected using purposive sampling. The results of the study indicate that the FoMo phenomenon among FISIP UGJ students is identified through several trends, namely fashion, location, cuisine, and self-branding, with a primary focus on the location trend.

Abstract

The development of digital technology and the popularity of video sharing platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram have encouraged the emergence of food vloggers as influential figures in the culinary world. This study aims to analyze the role of food vlogger @gilangaditja to invite consumers to buy products on the Instagram platform, especially in the Cirebon area. Using a case study-based qualitative approach, data was collected through observation of Instagram content and analyzed by applying the theory of source credibility proposed by Hovland, Janis, and Kelley, as well as the theory of content marketing and consumer behavior. The research revealed that @gilangaditja succeeded in building an image through competence, trustworthiness, and personal appeal. The content produced is informative, interesting, and emotional, thus creating a strong persuasive influence on the audience. The high level of intensive interaction and testimonials from followers shows that food vloggers can act as significant content creators to encourage consumers to buy products. These findings suggest that culinary industry players can utilize collaboration with food vloggers as an important element in an effective digital marketing strategy.

Abstract

The workshop featured in The Research Workshop (Volume 12) at the IPMI Institute in June 11, 2025 is concerned with the application of NVivo for advanced qualitative data analysis in research. Participants are introduced to NVivo's main functions such as importation, organization, and coding of many forms of data including text documents, surveys, and audio and video material. The hands-on sessions of the workshop are focused on real applications such as coding scheme development, integration of categorical data, and advanced querying techniques for identifying and interpreting patterns. Modeled for researchers and faculty alike, the intention of the program is to create new ways to achieve efficient and rigorous analyses in qualitative research, geared toward the application of these methods in real-world situations across disciplines. The session will also provide an introduction to some of those new NVivo features that are AI-assisted and will discuss the opportunities to enhance the analysis process as well as some limitations.

Abstract

Indonesia has a wealth of traditional culinary delights with potential for further development. This activity aims to create innovative spring rolls with chicken and jicama and provide skills training to boost interest in culinary entrepreneurship. The activity consisted of socialization, demonstrations, and hands-on guidance on making the spring rolls for six participants. The results show the training effectively improved manufacturing skills and sparked interest in innovative lumpia-based businesses. This program could serve as a model for adapting traditional cuisine to market trends while strengthening the creative economy based on local culture. The distribution of participant response questionnaires yielded the following results: 90% stated that the training material was relevant to industry/entrepreneurship needs. The instructor's delivery method (practice) was easy to understand (85%). The training duration was sufficient to master core skills (80%). The tools and materials provided were sufficient to facilitate the training activities (80%), and an open suggestion was for further training related to product labeling and marketing.
