Abstract

The research discusses about the design of electronic module assembly and installating computer. The module was designed for assembling and installating computer content displayed in digital way, so this modul is very flexible and easy to be used. The content was displayed by video to make it easier to understand by the learners. The method used consists of several phases; analysis, design, coding and testing. The design used UML process and then was developed by Kvisoft Flip book maker. The result of this research shows how the assembly and installation module was easier to be used for the teacher and the students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of guided inquiry learning modules on critical thinking skills of students and comparing critical thinking skills of students taught through guided inquiry learning modules and conventional learning models. This is an experimental research. The data of the research were obtained through a test, and observatio . The normality, homogeneity, and the difference between the two sets of data were computed using the SPSS 16.0 For Windows program. Questionnaire result data for each student is given a score according to a scale. Then, the average score per statement and the average total score were found out. The results showed that the guided inquiry learning module and conventional learning could significantly improve students' critical thinking skills and the improvement of critical thinking skills with the treatment of guided inquiry learning models was significantly better than conventional learning. And the results of students’ activity in the experiment class are better than that in the control class.

Abstract

The main issue discussed in this article is the students’ low interest in reading textbooks. In addition, students do not use various techniques. As a result, they feel bored, and less concentrated when reading. The theory used in this research is the reading theory proposed by Tarigan (2008), reading comprehension techniques by Agustina (2008) and SQ3R reading techniques by Ermanto (2008) and Agustina (2008). This type of research is quantitative research using experimental method with SQ3R reading techniques. The population of this study were Indonesian Language and Literature Education students of FKIP Bung Hatta University who took the Reading Teaching Skills course. The sample was elected purposively. Based on data analysis, it was found that students did not apply the SQ3R reading technique well in determining the theme, plot, background, characterization, point of view and mandate, with an average value of 80.5. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of the use of SQ3R reading techniques towards students’ reading comprehension at FKIP of Bung Hatta University Padang.

Abstract

Based on the preliminary studies at SMAN 1 Koto XI Tarusan, it was found that the lack of interest and motivation caused the students less active in the learning process. In addition, the teacher’s teaching model and media were not appropriate, especially within human circulatory system material that made the student learning outcomes still under  the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM). This study aims at figuring out the effectiveness of Discovery Learning Model Plus Pictures on students’ cognitives at class XI students of SMAN 1 Koto XI Tarusan.This is an experimental research with the population class XI 2017/2018 academic year. The sampling method uses purposive sampling; class XI IPA1 as experimental class, and class XI IPA3 as control class. The instrument used in cognitive assessment is the final test with multuple choices. Based on the results of the study, the cognitive results of the experimental class were 81.05 and the control class was 77.39. From this study, it can be concluded that the application of the Discovery Learning learning model plus images influences the cognitive of class XI students of SMAN 1 Koto XI Tarusan

Abstract

This study aims to find out the steps, characteristics, monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the curriculum development policy of Madrasah Aliyah Qismul ‘Aly Al-Washliyah in North Sumatra. This study uses qualitative research methods of policy analysis. The data were gained by means of in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings of this study are: a) The steps in developing the Aliyah Qismul 'Aly Al-Washliyah madrasah curriculum were in the form of: education policy formulation through the guidance of the Al-Washliyah Education Council, filed in a Decree (SK), then being socialized to the regions and Madrasah Aliyah Qismul 'Aly, b) the characteristics of the implementation of curriculum development policies for Madrasah Aliyah Qismul' Aly include the curriculum of Diniyah Al-Washliyah, Al-Washliyahan subjects and General Imtihan examinations, c) Monitoring and evaluating the implementation of policies for the development of Madrasah Aliyah Qismul curriculum Aly through the assistance of the Al-Washliyah Education Council and assisted by madrasah supervisors pointed by the government. The evaluation was carried out by going down to the region while monitoring all the policy programs must be implemented.

Abstract

This research was conducted at Mathematics Education Study Program at Tarbiyah and Teacher Training Faculties of IAIN Padangsidimpuan at the third semester 2018-2019 academic year. Research method used is quantitative method with bivariate comparative analysis approach aiming to find out the significant differences in students' mathematical communication skills in statistical subjects. The design of this research is a one short case study  comparing the result of two treatments after the post tests. The research was conducted in one classroom, in which one treatment preceding the other treatment with different materials yet contain similar components and difficulties. The result of the research shows that there is significant difference in ability of mathematical communication between problem based learning and project based learning with tcount > ttable: 3,673 > 2,042; in which PjBL is higher than PBL.  In conclusion, PjBL is significantly better than PBL in term of students’ ability in mathematical communication

Abstract

The early twentieth century Islamic education was not firmly looking into the aspect of knowledge. What the Islamic world have seen for centuries is the practice of separation between faith, knowledge and intellectualism. In other words, the education system professed a dualism which was without precedence in the Islamic world. Both of the education systems had their own weakness. Under the western education systems the Islamic World practiced a type of education which more emphasized the aspects of intellectualism, which is more towards materialism rather than faith. While the other which is more traditional, developed the aspect of faith and eternity. The Islamic faith suggest its followers to have such belief that if great efforts are made, they will gain bliss and happiness in life and in hereafter. These orientations and basic foundations are also being practiced in the Islamic World. Fulfilling the above aspiration, K.H. Ahmad Dahlan (1923 AD) and his Muhammadiyah organization moved ahead aiming their goals at developing and innovating the education system of Indonesia in particular. He integrated the teaching of Islam and its culture, with the inclusion of the acquisition of knowledge according to the Islamic way.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the implementation of authentic assessment of 2013 curriculum at SMA PMT Prof. Dr. Hamka Padang. The descriptions were the kinds of assessment, the implementation of assessment and the problem encountered by the teachers. Participants were two English teachers and 7 students as the representative chosen purposively. This is descriptive research. The data were obtained from the instruments used which were observation checklist and interview guideline. The data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The result shows that 52,5% of assessment was  implemented by all English teachers. The numbers of the students became main problems besides basic knowledge, overburdened of time and classroom management. In short, the English teachers’ assessment belonged to ‘Fair’ category. Consequently, the assessment training and workshop should be followed by the teachers. Furthermore, the researcher can widen research to know the assessment implemented by English teachers of the 2013 curriculum.

Abstract

Preliminarily, it was found that there are some problems faced by teachers in teaching and learning process. The problems are the teachers still implement classical rather than cooperative learning. Moreover, it is hard for them to make students active in the classroom, especially in asking questions and delivering ideas or opinions. Furthermore, it is also hard for them to develop students' curiosity in learning process. To overcome these problems, one solution which can be used is implementation of example non example method. The purpose of the research was to know the effect of example non example method on students' competence. It was a quasi experimental research. It was done in SMPN 18 Padang to VII grade students. Purposive sampling technique was used to take samples. The data were obteined through observation sheets for psychomotor competence. The technique of data analysis used Mann-Whitney U-Test in assistance of SPSS software. The findings show that the example non example method has significant effect on students' psychomotor competence.

Abstract

This study aims at determining the effectiveness of powerpoint games in developing initial mathematical abilities. The approach used was quantitative with a quasi experimental method type pretest-posttest group design. The population of this study was all of the group B early young learners in Koto Tangah Subdistrict, Padang City 2018/2019 academic year. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling with a total sample of 30 children. The data were collected by using an initial mathematical ability test adopted from REMA the Research Based Early Mathematics Assessment. Data analysis technique was an independent t-test, seeing a comparison of differences in average scores. The result shows that powerpoint games were effective in developing early mathematical abilities in the experimental group compared to the control group. The use of powerpoint games can be an alternative learning media in developing other aspects of development.
