Abstract

Textbooks function as one the useful teaching materials in the curriculum. The purpose of the study was to identify the content of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in science textbooks for grade 7 junior high school semester 2 particularly the subject of living things and their environment consisting of socio-cultural, environmental, and economic aspects that met the textbook evaluation criteria. Data were collected by analyzing seven junior high school textbooks used in Jambi. The research instrument is a text analysis check sheet based on ESD indicators containing socio-cultural, environmental, and economic perspectives. The study discovered that teachers learn from textbooks that promote an ESD viewpoint on each subject that takes into account socio-cultural, environmental, and economic factors. The examination of the seven teaching resources revealed that the integration of the information in the teaching resources from the ESD perspective has to be revised to address the growing environmental issues. The second semester of the 2013 curriculum saw the introduction of the ESD perspective on scientific teaching materials in the form of textbooks for the 7th grade SMP. These textbooks included elements of ESD but still kept them distinct from one another. The environmental dimension is the most prominent feature of ESD in the scientific textbooks for the second semester of the 7th- grade curriculum in 2013.

Abstract

Adolescence's middle years are fraught with problems that force them to make good or bad decisions in their social interactions. Schools play an important role in guiding students' development in the right direction. The purpose of this research is to investigate a model for integrating the Tarbiyah Islamiyah curriculum in order to improve the character of students. The vocational high school Bina Potensi Palu is the site of this research. This study is a qualitative-descriptive. The respondents included the principal and four teachers who were directly involved in tarbiyah islamiyah activities. Data was gathered through an in-depth interview technique and presented following the reduction and triangulation processes. The findings of this study revealed that: 1) the tarbiyah Islamiyah integration process took two forms, that is integration into Islamic religious education subjects and integration into extracurricular activities that were held every weekend. Integration using Fogarty's shared model; 2) Tarbiyah islamiyah in schools implements a limited boarding school system; the authors refer to it as "semi-boarding school"; 3) Tarbiyah islamiyah teaches social values and characters such as obedience to parents and teachers, respect for others, politeness in relationships, caring for others, tolerance, respect for other religions, and visiting the sick. The application of social character is carried out verbally and nonverbally through school culture. These social characters are the foundation of character education in schools, which supports the national education curriculum's aims. Educational institutions should implement it to achieve national education goals in developing students social characters.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the contribution of the School Committee in improving the quality of Islamic religious education at MTsN Solok City. The School Committee, which should carry out its duties and functions properly is still faced with many problems so that the quality of education in general and the quality of Islamic Religious Education (PAI), especially in the madrasa, has not shown the expected results. This research is field research (field research). The approach used is a qualitative approach. Sources of data for this research include School Committees, Principals, Deputy Principals of Madrasahs, and teachers of religious subjects. Collecting data using observation techniques, questionnaires, and documentation studies. Analysis data using the inductive method. The research credibility test uses observation persistence, source triangulation, and interview triangulation results with observations. The results of this study indicate that the contribution as a supporting body such as holding regular meetings with parents/guardians of students, providing support for infrastructure, and also funds to support PAI activities. Contributions as a controlling body such as supervising the planning and implementation of PAI activities, being involved in the ratification of the PAI program, supervising the progress of students' attitudes and skills after participating in PAI activities, monitoring students who excel in PAI activities, controlling the income and expenses of PAI activities. Contributions as a liaison body such as fostering collaboration with stakeholders, disseminating PAI policies and programs, and facilitating various program policy inputs.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to reveal the implementation of Independent Curriculum-based PAI learning and the obstacles encountered in its implementation in SDN Semarangan 4, SDN Semarangan 5, SDN Pengkol, SDIT Ibnu Abbas, SDN 2 Godean, SDN Timon. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive with a phenomenological design. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews with 6 PAI teachers as key informants, as well as observations. The results of the study show that the implementation of learning begins with greetings, apperceptions, basic activities with various methods and approaches used. Assessment is done in different ways, not only relying on exams, but reflection on learning activities is an important aspect of the assessment instrument. Freedom in achieving PAI learning is an important point in this independent curriculum, teachers and students have the freedom to master certain material until it is completed in one semester. Developing an attitude of independence is part of Pancasila's student profile building project. Obstacles encountered in the implementation of the Independent Curriculum, namely the teacher's difficulties in translating the curriculum to strengthen the profile of the Pancasila student into project activities outside of learning

Abstract

The report is a part of developing integrative learning model (MPI) on the biology of animal development. The research objective was to determine the needs analysis of developing MPI on the biology of animal development at STAIN Batusangkar. The research use Plomp model. The data obtained will be analyzed by data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The result showed that philosophy of STAIN Batusangkar is an integration. Analysis of the characteristics of students showed that students of STAIN Batusangkar has a heterogeneous background of the aspects of capability. These results are based on the findings of the Academic Performance Index, schools and majors while undergoing studies in high school, the course pre-condition and the results of multiple intelegencie test. Developmental of biology material is characterized by the facts, concepts, principles and theories. In conclusion, the research is a part of activity that supports of developing MPI on the biology of animal development at STAIN Batusangkar.Kata kunci:    analisis karakteristik, model pembelajaran integratif, biologi perkembangan hewan

Abstract

This study was aimed at improving the quality of learning process of Strategi Pembelajaran Biologi subject and in turn teachers with good pedagogic competence and teaching skill can be realized. Learning syntax that was carried out in this subject was: (1) course orientation and pretest administration, (2) learning process employing multi-strategy (concept approach, modeling and drilling method), (3) explanation and lesson plan design exercise, and peer teaching practices based on the lesson plan. The lesson plans were assessed by using IPKG-1 and teaching practices were assessed by IPKG-2, and (4) posttest was assessed IPKG-2 to figure out the improvement on the students teaching skill. The findings showed that there was significant improvement upon the students teaching skill in teaching practices by using multi-strategy.Kata kunci:   skill mengajar, mahasiswa calon guru, multy strategy

Abstract

Emotional intelligence is recognized as an ability to participate influential in determining one's success. This paper will discuss the research results relating to the development of emotional intelligence of students of mathematics. Based on survey results revealed the existence of positive changes in emotional intelligence of students after attending a course using problem-based learning tools.

Abstract

Derivation is a model for linguistic study in Arabic which is not only important to be introduced to Arabic Department students but also urgent in teaching Arabic, especially in Islamic colleges/universities such as STAIN, IAIN, and UIN to widen students’ horizon and develop Arabic teaching system itself as well. Furthermore, one of the functions of derivational system or al-istiqaq is as a medium for reproducing new vocabularies (lexis). This should be realized and considerably important in response to stigmatization found in Arabic teaching where Arabic is believed as the language of religion and therefore did not develop and change.Kata kunci: derivasi, urgensi, pengajaran bahasa Arab

Abstract

This research was aimed at: 1) explaining positive description of the roles of school principal, counselors, vice principal, administrative personnel in SMK Negeri Manado, 2) explaining positive description on guidance and counseling program in SMK Negeri Manado, and 3) explaining the relationship among school principal, counselors, vice principal, administrative personnel in carrying out guidance and counseling program SMK Negeri Manado. The method employed in this study was survey which described factors related the roles of school principal, counselors, vice principal, administrative personnel in carrying out guidance and counseling program SMK Negeri Manado. The findings showed that there was 1) positive description about the roles school principal, counselors, vice principal, administrative personnel in SMK Negeri Manado, 2) positive description about guidance and counseling program in SMK Negeri Manado, 3) positive description about the roles school principal, counselors, vice principal, administrative personnel in carrying out guidance and counseling program in SMK Negeri Manado. These imply that positive that the roles school principal, counselors, vice principal, administrative personnel has positive influence toward guidance and counseling program in SMK Negeri Manado. Consequently, the higher the roles assumed by the school principlal, the better guidance and counseling program will be and vise versa. Based on the findings, it was suggested that 1) the school counselor keep giving information to students about guidance and counseling services that they may use. 2) School should provide facility to support guidance and counseling program, 3) students use  all services provided in guidance and counseling program.Kata kunci:  personil sekolah (kepala sekolah, guru BK, wali kelas, tata usaha), bimbingan dan konseling

Abstract

Several international surveys and national examinations show that learning Mathematics in Indonesia have not expected optimum result. This is not only indicated by students’ low test score only but also by their low interest and negative image on the subject. In response to the above phenomena, paradigm in education, especially in learning Mathematics begins to shift from learning that places students as passive knowledge receivers into facilitating them to construct active knowledge. This article discusses learning model of SAVI (Somatic, Auditory, Visual and Intellectual) that promotes students’ active and independent learning based on PAKEM (active, creative, effective and fun learning). It is, therefore, expected that the offered model improve students’ interest and their image upon Mathematics subject as well.Kata kunci: pembelajaran matematika, model pembelajaran SAVI, pembelajaran berorientasi PAKEM.
