Abstract

Indonesia's education system hasn't been able to reflect the learners and educational output character. One cause is the paradigm the teacher who assumes coaching Morals as the character formation of students in the school as a teacher of religious education task. Coaching these characters could be done by science teachers particularly biology, according to the purpose of the first biological subjects. Biology teacher responsible for teaching the values of Islam (imtaq) in the material he teaches. To cultivate ketaqwaannya, then all learner activities; think, feel, behave, and act responsibly (BMB3) will be based on the values ketaqwaan. Abstract

Bertahan dalam terpaan globalisasi yang inhuman, propaganda dan menepisnya visi, misi hidup berbangsa dan bernegara  serta lemahnya pribadi individu dan kelompok maka semua jajaran perlu mempertahankan pribadi dan kepribadian bangsa yang kokoh. Indonesia sebagai negara yang luas dengan keberagaman suku bangsa budaya lokal yang ada merupakan modal dasar untuk membentuk kepribadian bangsa. Memahami dan menjalankan serta membumikan nilai nilai budaya lokal dalam kehidupan sehari-hari akan membentuk karakter bangsa.           Adat minang kabau sebagai budaya lokal tidak berdiri sendiri selalu bersinergis dengan budaya nasional dan pancasila. Abstract

Standar Nasional Pendididikan (SNP) has set minimum criteria of Educational system in Indonesia. It has functions as the foundation for planning, actualizing and controlling in education in Indonesia, including for Islamic higher education, in the efforts of achieving qualified education. Islamic higher educational institutions (PTAI) need to formulate and develop SNP in accordance with the characteristics of vision, mission, standard competemcy of the graduates, particular features of the majors developed in PTAI. SNP-based educational institution management is an important element to arrive at educational goals. Abstract

his study aimed at identifying, describing and understanding students’ learning habit at school and at home as well, and figuring out contributing factors in establishing and developing their habits. This study employed ethnography method and such techniques as observation, interview, documentary studies and questionnaire. The obtained data were analyzed by means of domain, taxonomy and componential analyses. Findings showed that the learning habits of the majority students of outstanding achievement class (kelas unggulan) of MTsN Batusangkar both at school and at home were good. Those habits were in line with achievement which they took is a reward. Satisfaction toward the reward encouraged them to be more motivated in learning which in turn developed better learning habit. These had formed a good chain in learning process. Factors that contributed to the establishment and development of learning habit were internal (self motivation, management, direction and development) and external factors (social and instrumental environments).Kata kunci: siswa, kebiasaan belajar, bahasa Arab, kelas unggulan

Abstract

Strategy-based instruction is believed to able to improve students’ involvement in learning, including learning listening. Unfortunately, the lack concept of the instruction and the less training that the students have causes them still struggling in learning listening. This research report is aimed at investigating the effectiveness of using strategy-based instruction in term of students’ involvement and students’ comprehension in listening. This is a classroom action research of which the researcher and the teacher worked collaborately in implementing the strategy-based instruction. The research was done in two cycles of which each cycle was realized in three meetings.  The data were collected using questionnaire and test. The finding suggests that the strategy-based instruction improve students’ learning in term of involvement and comprehension. The involvement in learning listening raised in all aspects of strategies which include cognitive, metacognitive and socio-affective strategies which reaches 30,3%. The improvement in term of involvement also affects the improvement in students’ comprehension from the average of 47 in the beginning of the study to 73 or 53% at the end of the.Key words: Students engagement, learning strategy, strategy based instruction

Abstract

The rapid development of knowledge and technology brings learners to innovative things in their lives. Television is one of technologies lead learners to the positive things. For example, television could facilitate learners to study easily and enlarge their horizons. It, however, has a negative effect on learners’ personality. Learners assume that what they watch and listen are absolutely correct. As a result, they do all the things as what they watch. They are failed to filter the positive values on television. In order to anticipate these negative values, teachers should corporate to parents. Parents, for example, could empower leaner’s iman (faith), build their character values, and enrich their ibadah (worship) to God Almighty. Abstract

This research was motivated by a fact that some of students of mathematics study program at STAIN Batusangkar have low ability in mathematics communication and mathematics disposition on Geometry subject. This is indicated by the students’ inability to answer the questions on mathematics communication. In order to solve this problem, the researcher designed a research on learning strategy using Problem-based in Geometry subject. This research applied experimental method using randomized control group only design. The population of this research was the third semester students registered in 2014/2015 academic year. They consisted of three classes. The data were taken from the final test of each sample. The research findings show that the two hypotheses were accepted. Therefore, students’ ability was better in mathematics communication by applying learning strategy using problem-based than conventional learning. In addition to this, students’ ability was better in mathematics disposition by using learning strategy using problem-based than conventional learning.Kata kunci:    Kemampuan komunikasi, disposisi matematis, dan strategi pembelajaran berbasis masalah

Abstract

Reading is a proses of involving reader’s physics and mental. The purpose of reading is not only to get new information passively but also to comprehend the text actively. In order to get good result in reading, a reader needs to apply various strategies. Kinsella (2000) offers several reading strategies such as PACA, KWL Plus, Outlining, and Concept  Building. Those strategies could be well implemented based on reader’s purpose to read. Abstract

One of the strategies of metacognitive introduced by the listening lecturers in listening comprehension III at STAIN Batusangkar is monitoring strategies. It is assumed that these strategies can help students solve their problem in listening comprehension in order to comprehend oral text correctly. The purposes of this research are to investigate what kind of students’ monitoring strategies are used and how they applied it in listening comprehension.The research method was descriptive qualitative.The participants of the research were English students who took listening comprehension III. 91 students were involved as the respondents to answer the questionnaire, and 12 students among them were selected to be interviewed using snowball sampling technique. The data of the research were collected by using questionnaire, interview, and observation. After analizing the data, it was found that most of students used monitoring strategies. These strategies include as: ask if it makes sense, selected attend, deduction, personalizing or contextualizing, taking note, using imagery, self talk, and cooperative strategy. They had applied these strategies in many ways but some of the them did not do it properly. Based on these findings, It can be concluded thatmonitoring strategies used by the students in listening comprehension need to enhance into the correct ways to get better comprehension in listening.Key words: Investigating, Metacognitive strategies, Monitoring strategies, Listening Comprehension

Abstract

The depelopment of technology in Globalization era may give bad influence to education nowadays. It had created people’s moral crisis, especially students. The changing of the students’ mentality and moral, for example, might be happened because of internal and/or external factors. The students never feel upset after doing something bad to others. They seemed that they did not know of how to respect adult people when doing communication. And, there were some other problems among the students. It might happen because they got lack of education about etique both at school or outside the school. The education of etique was really needed to do in order to solve those problems. It was clear that it became important thing in educational system today. The progress of education in one country, especially in Indonesia, could be seen from the suceed of implementing education characters to its students. One of the possible thing of changing character was through giving education of etique to them.Kata kunci: etika, pendidikan, guru, siswa
