Abstract

This research aims to identify: (1) the form of social conflict in the novel Tamu by Wisran Hadi, (2) the cause of social conflict in the novel Tamu by Wisran Hadi, (3) the impact of social conflict in the novel Tamu by Wisran Hadi. The object used in this research is the novel Tamu by Wisran Hadi published in 2002. The method used in this research is descriptive method. The data taken in this study are words, phrases, clauses and sentences related to the form, cause, and impact of social conflict in the novel Tamu by Wisran Hadi. The instrumental used in this research is the writer himself by using the help of other instruments in the form of recording sheets. The technique of data collection used is reading and understanding the novel, determining the main character, and searching and recording data related to the research problem contained in the novel. Analyzing data techniques used are identifying and classifying data. Next, interpret the data, and conclude the data analysis. The results of the study mention (1) the form of social conflict in the novel Tamu by Wisran Hadi in the form of personal conflict, group conflict, and conflict in society. (2) the causes of social conflict in the novel Tamu by Wisran Hadi are caused by differences between individuals or individuals, differences in social class, differences in interests, and social change. (3) the impact of social conflict in the novel Tamu by Wisran Hadi includes the destruction of group unity, personality change, and the destruction of social values and norms.

Abstract

This study aims to describe (1) the structure of traditional questions (riddles) for the Kenagarian Sitiung community, Sitiung District, Dharmasraya Regency, (2) the categories of traditional questions (riddles) for the Kenagarian Sitiung community, Sitiung District, Dharmasraya District, and (3) the social function of traditional questions (riddles). the Sitiung Kenagarian community, Sitiung District, Dharmasraya Regency. This type of research is qualitative with descriptive method. The data of this research are traditional questions (riddles) from the Kenagarian Sitiung community, Sitiung District, Dharmasraya Regency. Data collection from informants was carried out in two stages, namely recording traditional questions (riddles) and collecting data about the storytelling environment. Data analysis was carried out in four stages (1) data transcription stage, (2) data classification stage, (3) results discussion and conclusion stage, and (4) reporting stage. Based on the results of the study, the following were found: (1) the structure of traditional questions (riddles) for the Kenagarian Sitiung community, Sitiung District, Dharmasraya Regency consists of: (a) traditional questions (riddles) that conflict, and (b) traditional questions (riddles) that do not contrary. (2) the categories of traditional questions (riddles) of the Kenagarian Sitiung community, Sitiung District, Dharmasraya Regency consist of: (a) similarities with humans, (b) similarities with animals, (c) similarities with plants, (d) similarities with inanimate objects, and (e) similarities with colors. (3) the social function of traditional questions (riddles) for the Kenagarian Sitiung community, Sitiung District, Dharmasraya Regency, consisting of: (a) testing other people's intelligence, and (b) entertainment.

Abstract

This article aims to describe:(1) the forms of gender stereotypes for women in the novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam by Dian Purnomo, (2) the causes of gender stereotypes for women in the novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam by Dian Purnomo, and (3) the impact of gender stereotypes on women in the novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam by Dian Purnomo. The type of research used is literary research with descriptive methods. The data source used in this study is the novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam by Dian Purnomo. Based on the research conducted, it was found that there were 6 forms of labeling attached to women in the novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam by Dian Purnomo. The stereotypes that are attached are, women are week, women are emotional, women are motherhood, women are managing household affairs, women are serving husband, and women are sex objects. Factors that cause gender stereotypes for women are social factors, and cultural factors. The impact of gender stereotypes on women is subordination, marginalization, violence and harassment, and workload.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) Reveal and describe the form of swear nouns in the film Jakarta Vs Everybody. (2) Reveal and describe the types of swear nouns in the film Jakarta Vs Everybody. (3) Reveal and describe the function of the curse noun in the film Jakarta Vs Everybody. This research uses qualitative methods using descriptive methods. The results of this study are, First, based on the results of the study, a total of 51 data were found included in the swear noun, in this study the approximately word-shaped swear noun amounted to 34 data. Second. Based on the type in this study, 6 types of swear nouns ((a), conditions, (b) animals, (c) objects, (d) body parts, (e) kinship, (f) profession) and 1 type of swear noun ((g) Subtle creatures) were found, from several types of swear nouns that dominate, namely the type of animal swear noun totaling 17 data. Third, based on the function of using swear expressions found there are 4 functions of swearing, namely (1) When swearing is used as a habit or group rule, (2) Curses are used intentionally to insult, revile, threaten, surprise, and hurt or disturb Foul or indecent language is used as a joke or intended to joke (4) Curses used to express strong emotions, such as surprise, or when something occurs, in this study the most dominating is dirty or indecent language used as a joke or intended to joke which amounts to 19 data.

Abstract

This study aims to describe (1) the politeness principles used by Bossman Mardigu on the YouTube show, (2) the language politeness strategies used by Bossman Mandigu. The research data are in the form of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences related to politeness criticizing Bossman Mardigu on the YouTube program. The data collection techniques used in this study are as follows: (1) Download videos of the Bossman Mardigu podcast via YouTube. (2) listening to Bossman Mardigu's podcast and transcribing the data into written form, (3) inventorying the data into an inventory format. The validation technique in this study uses a triangulation technique. Furthermore, data analysis in this study was carried out with the following work steps: (1) grouping data in the form of polite speeches criticizing Bossman Mardigu on YouTube; (2) analyzing data that has been grouped through the data classification stage; (3) interpreting the data found; and (4) summarizing the data and writing reports or analyses that have been carried out. There are two findings in this research. First found as many as six violations of the principle of politeness. Secondly, there were five speech strategies used by Bossman Mardigu. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that Bossman Mardigu violates the principle of politeness more when criticizing, or can be said to be impolite.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to (1) describe the forms of behavior (2) describe the factors that cause deviant behavior (3) describe the impact of deviant behavior. This research is a qualitative research using descriptive method. The data collection technique was carried out in four stages, namely: (1) reading and understanding the novel in order to master the contents of the novel, (2) conducting a literature study related to deviant behavior, (3) identifying data related to forms of deviant behavior, factors that cause storing behavior , and the impact of deviant behavior, (4) inventorying data into a data inventory format. The data validation stage uses a triangulation technique. The discussion in this study includes First, the forms of deviant behavior in the novel Tiba Sebelum Berangkat by Faisal Oddang include, anti-social, extramarital sex, homosexuality, and violence. Second, the factors that cause deviant behavior in the novel Tiba Sebelum Berangkat by Faisal Oddang include unhealthy mental attitudes, feelings of disappointment, and deviant learning processes. Third, the impact of deviant behavior in the novel Tiba Sebelum Berangkat by Faisal Oddang includes crime and the fading of values and norms

Abstract

Literary works are often seen as a reflection of society in the era in which and when the work was produced. The Star and I novel by Ilana Tan is a literary work that reflects the life of cosmopolitan society in the current era of globalization. Cosmopolitan identity has become an increasingly popular topic in the humanities and literature. This paper aims to analyze how cosmopolitan identity behavior is reflected in the novel The Star and I by Ilana Tan. This type of research is literary research using a qualitative approach and descriptive method. In this analysis, the novel The Star and I by Ilana Tan is chosen as the object of research because this novel describes a complex and pluralistic life that can reflect a cosmopolitan identity. The results of this study show how the concept of cosmopolitan identity is represented by the characters in the novel and how these characters interact with their environment. The results also show that cosmopolitan identity in the novel can be understood through characters who are able to navigate cultural differences and build relationships with people from different backgrounds. Cosmopolitan identity is also reflected in the way the characters articulate their thoughts, feelings and behaviors about identity and nationality. It is hoped that this paper can contribute to researchers and observers of literature in understanding how cosmopolitan identity is reflected in literary works and how literary works can play a role in promoting an understanding of cosmopolitanism in an increasingly globalized society.

Abstract

The main objective of this research is to describe gender inequality in the novel Whispering Angel by Asma Nadia. This form of gender inequality includes five forms, namely marginalization, subordination, stereotypes, violence and excessive workload. The causes of gender inequality consist of four factors, namely, caste factors, attitude factors, economic factors and social factors. From the act of gender injustice there is an impact of the action, which is divided into three impacts namely, psychological impact, moral impact and the impact of the destruction of idealism. Gender injustice is not only felt by women, but sometimes men are also in that position. Nowadays, the perpetrators of gender injustice are not only perpetrated by men against women but also by women against women as told in the novel Whispering Angel by Asma Nadia. This type of research is literary research using descriptive methods. The research data are in the form of words, phrases, clauses, sentences, narration from the narrator, the speeches of the characters, and the actions of the characters related to gender inequality. The data collection method uses the listening method with advanced techniques in the form of note taking techniques. Data analysis techniques with content analysis, consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The data validation technique uses the triangulation technique. The novel Whispering Angel by Asma Nadia focuses on social problems that often occur in society, namely gender issues. This is of course related to the sociological theory of literary works, reflecting what it is because the author connects directly with cases of gender inequality that occur in Indonesia. Thus, the author's way of expressing his concern about the case, the author makes victims of acts of violence as one of the story characters whose function is to convey the author's message to his readers. So that readers can care more and empathize with the problems that occur in social life.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to describe: (1) forms of discrimination against women, (2) factors that cause discrimination against women, and (3) the impact of discrimination against women. This type of research is literary research with descriptive methods. The data and data sources of this research are data on discrimination against women in the Balada Sumarah monologue by Tentrem Lestari. The technique of collecting data in this research is by: (1) Reading and understanding the Balada Sumarah monologue by Tentrem Lestari; (2) Literature review, literature study related to the things being studied in order to obtain an understanding of the problem to be studied; and (3) To make an inventory of data related to discrimination against women as described in the Balada Sumarah monologue by Tentrem Lestari. The data validation technique used is the triangulation technique. After conducting various discussions in this study, it was found that forms of discrimination against women from the Balada Sumarah monologue by Tentrem Lestari include: (1) marginalization, (2) subordination, (3) stereotypes, (4) violence, and (5) workload . In addition, factors that cause discrimination are found in the monologue of Balada Sumarah by Tentrem Lestari, such as: (1) caste factors, (2) social factor, (3) economic factor. As for the impact arising from this discrimination of women: (1) such as moral burden, (2) psychologic burden, (3) destruction of idealism.

Abstract

The main objective of this research is to describe the process of ecranization of plot, setting, and characterization in reducing, adding, and changing variations from the novel to the film Cinta Subuh. This research uses descriptive method. The data sources in this study are the novel Cinta Subuh by Alii Farighi and the film Cinta Subuh by Indra Gunawan. The research instrument is the researcher himself as the main instrument using a number of formats, both for data collection and for analyzing data. The data collection technique was carried out by reading the novel Cinta Subuh by Alii Farighi then watching the film Cinta Subuh by Indra Gunawan and inventorying the data into a data inventory format and grouping data related to the form of ecranization from the novel to the film Cinta Subuh. The data analysis technique uses content analysis. This research resulted in: (1) the aspect of shrinkage, there are 52 data that occur in plot elements 40 times, setting 9 times, and characterizations of 13 characters in the novel. (2) the additional aspect is that there are 38 data that occur in the plot elements of 26 data, the background is 5 data, and the characterizations are 7 data in the film. (33) there are 15 data aspects of changing variations that occur in plot elements of 6 data, setting of 4 data, and characterizations of 5 data in the novel to the film. Changes that occur from the process of ecranizing novels to films will result in many changes due to the differences in the media used in the making of novels and films, such as differences in the process of making and enjoying them.
