Abstract

The aim of the research was to analyze the types of expressive speech acts and the context of using speech strategies in expressive speech acts in the novel Particle by Dee Lestari. The research method is descriptive qualitative. The source of the data in this research is the dialogue of characters indicating expressive speech acts in the novel Particle by Dee Lestari. Data collection techniques were carried out using two techniques, namely reading and taking notes. After that, identification of the data included in the types of expressive speech acts and the context of the use of speech strategies were carried out. The results of this study indicate that there are 10 types of expressive speech acts, namely congratulating, praising, thanking, apologizing, expressing pleasure, expressing anger, satirizing, insulting, criticizing, and complaining. The dominant expressive speech act in the research is congratulating. In the context of the use of speech strategies used in the novel Particle by Dee Lestari, namely in the context of speakers (-K+S) using a lot of speech strategies (SBTTBKP, SBTTBKN, SBTBB, and SBSS); in the context of speakers (=K+S) many use speech strategies (SBTTBKP); in the context of speakers (+K+S) using a lot of speech strategies (SBTTBKP); in the context of speakers (+K-S) use a lot (SBTTBKP); in the context of speakers (=K-S) use a lot of (SBTTBKP); in the context of dominant (-K-S) speakers (SBTTBKP).

Abstract

The aims of this study were: (1) to describe the shrinking of the character, plot, and setting elements in Aidah Harisah's novel My Nerd Girl's expansion into the My Nerd Girl web series directed by Agus Nugroho, (2) to describe the addition of character, plot, and background elements in ecranization of the novel My Nerd Girl to the Web series My Nerd Girl directed by Agus Nugroho, (3) describes the changes in variations in characters, plots, and settings in the Web series My Nerd Girl directed by Agus Nugroho based on the story text of the novel My Nerd Girl by Aidah Harisah. The object of this research is the novel My Nerd Girl by Aidah Harisah which was published in 2019 and the Web Series My Nerd Girl by director Agus Nugroho in 2022. The method used in this research is literary research with a descriptive method. The form of this research data is in the form of the entire contents of the text in the novel and dialogue as well as audiovisual elements in the Web Series which are related to aspects in the ecranization process. The technique of collecting data for this research is non-involved observation and note-taking techniques. Data analysis techniques are content analysis techniques and analytical comparisons. The results of this study found all aspects of ecranization including shrinking, adding, and changing variations. The implementation of these three aspects is manifested in the elements of characterization, plot and setting. The genre shift from romantic to mystery is the main motive in the process of ecranization in these two works.

Abstract

This study aims to describe: (1) the forms of violence in the novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam by Dian Purnomo, (2) the causes of violence in the novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam by Dian Purnomo, (3) The impact of violence in the novel Woman who Weeps for the Black Moon by Dian Purnomo. The object of research used by researchers is the novel Woman Crying To The Black Moon by Dian Purnomo, which was published in 2020. In this study, a descriptive method was used. In collecting the data used in this study in the form of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences related to the forms, causes, and impacts of violence in Dian Purnomo's novel Women Crying To The Black Moon. The research instrument was the researchers themselves using the help of other instruments in the form of recording sheets. The data collection technique used was reading and understanding the novel, determining the main character, and searching for data and recording data related to the research problems contained in the novel. The data analysis technique used is to classify the data then interpret the data, and conclude the data analysis. The results of this study are as follows. First, the forms of violence in the novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam by Dian Purnomo are divided into physical violence in the form of slapping, grabbing and hitting, psychological violence in the form of yelling and insults, and sexual violence in the form of forced kisses. and forced intercourse. Second, the causes of violence in the novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam by Dian Purnomo are divided into two factors, namely internal factors and external factors. The three impacts of violence in the novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam by Dian Purnomo are physical impacts in the form of severe injuries and bruises and non-physical effects in the form of depression and mental disorders.

Abstract

This article describes the structure of the folklore of the Batu Busuak legend in Koto Tuo Limau Manis, Pauh District, Padang City; and the social function of the folklore of the Batu Busuak legend in Koto Tuo Limau Manis, Pauh District, Padang City. This study used a qualitative approach using descriptive data originating from the folklore of the Batu Busuak legend in Koto Tuo Limau Manis, Pauh District, Padang City, which was collected through two stages. In the first stage of recording the legend of Batu Busuak folklore. In the second stage after recording folklore, after that collect data on the storytelling environment using recording, observation and interview techniques. Data analysis was carried out in four stages: (1) matching data with transcription and transliteration of data (2) analyzing data (3) discussing the results of data analysis (4) reporting the results of the analysis. This study found that the first structure of the folklore legend of Batu Busuak in Koto Tuo Limau Manis, Pauh District, Padang City consists of (a) style of language, (b) characters and characterizations, (c) setting (d) plot, (e) theme (f ) mandate. The second is the social function of the folklore of the Batu Busuak legend in Koto Tuo Limau Manis, Pauh District, Padang City, among others, to (a) educate, (b) pass on, (c) as identity.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the forms of social problems, the causes of social problems, the impact of social problems contained in Adimas Immanuel’s Surga Anjing Liar novel. The subject of this research is Adimas Immanuel’s Surga Anjing Liar novel, published in 2020. This research is a type of literary research the uses a descriptive method. The research instrument is the researcher who uses instrument tools in the from of recording sheet and data analysis. The result of the study are the form of social problems include; poverty, crime, family disorganization, war, violation of societal norm, environmental and bereaucratic problems, factors that cause social problem are caused by economic, biological, and psychological factors, the impact of social problems can be in the form of increased crime, gap between people rich dan poor, group divisions, emergence of deviant behavior dan rising unemployment.

Abstract

The objectives in carrying out this research study were (1) to determine how the percentage level of kinship of the languages to be studied in that area; (2) to determine the length of time of separation between the languages studied in the region; and (3) to describe sound correspondences between the languages studied in the region. Furthermore, in this study using quantitative methods and qualitative methods. The objects analyzed in the implementation of this research study were the Rejang language in Kepala Siring Village, Curup Tengah District, Rejang Lebong Regency and the Minangkabau language in Batang Kabung Village, East Pariaman District, Pariaman City. As for the research instrument, there are 200 Morris Swadesh basic vocabulary and 300 cultural vocabulary that have been compiled and adapted to the conditions of the area where the language area is used. This study uses the proficient method which is known to be in collecting research data. Furthermore, the percentage of kinship level of the two languages is calculated using the lexicostatistical method which is 38.5%. Meanwhile, the length of time the separation was for 2200 years ago or around 177 BC. As for the total cognates of these two languages, based on 500 vocabularies, there are 210 vocabularies. As well as found five forms of sound correspondence between languages, namely 40 forms of similar vocabulary, 59 sound substitutions or more commonly known as phonemes, 38 sound reduction vocabulary or more commonly understood as phonemes, 72 additional sound/phoneme vocabulary, and 1 metathesis vocabulary.

Abstract

This study aims to describe: (1) the structure of the folklore of the Batu Batikam legend in Jorong Dusun Tuo, Limo Kaum District, Tanah Datar District. (2) the social function of the folklore of the Batu Batikam legend in Jorong Dusun Tuo, Limo Kaum District, Tanah Datar Regency. This type of research is literary research with descriptive methods. The background, entries, and presence of the researcher is the folklore of the Batu Batikam legend in Jorong Tuo Hamlet, Limo Kaum District, Tanah Datar Regency. Quotations were collected from informants through two stages, namely (1) the recording stage of the Batu Batikam legend folklore (2) the transcription and transliteration stages. (3) data validation stage. (4) data analysis stage. Data was taken by note-taking techniques, observations and interviews. The results of this study are: 1) the structure of the folklore of the legend of Batu Batikam in Jorong Dusun Tuo, Limo Kaum District, Tanah Datar Regency which is divided into, (a) style of language, which is used in the Minangkabau language Ba-tusangkar dialect (b) characters and characterizations, the character Dt. Parpatiah Nan Sabatang and Dt. Katumangguangan (c) setting, place setting in Jorong Tuo Hamlet, Limo Kaum District, Tanah Datar Regency. The time setting is not certain, it is only estimated in ancient times (d) the plot used is advanced (e) the theme, which uses the presence of sacred stones as a symbol of peace and belief in the Minangkabau people. (f) mandate, no matter how serious the problem with anyone is not to hurt other people or injure other people. 2) the social function of the legend of Batu Batikam folklore in Jorong Dusun Tuo, Limo Kaum District, Tanah Datar Regency, which is divided into, (a) entertaining, this story is entertainment for people who are resting, (b) educates, Batu Batikam folklore, this story becomes teaching for many people (c) pass on, this folklore is passed on to children of the next generation (d) identity. For the Limo Kaum people, the legend of batu batikam serves as a social image that reflects cultural norms as well as an effort so that the people there always adhere to these norms.

Abstract

The objectives of this study are: (1) to describe the psyche elements of the main character in the novel Elegi Haekal by Dhia'an Farah, (2) to describe the impact of one of the elements that dominate in the novel Elegi Haekal by Dhia'an Farah. This research uses literary research with descriptive method. The object used in this research is the novel Elegi Haekal by Dhia'an Farah. Based on the results of the research, id, ego, and superego elements were found in Hanna's character and Jovan's character when faced with conflict. The id element is more dominated by Hanna's character, proven by the attitudes displayed by Hanna's character, namely selfishness and impulsiveness. Meanwhile, the superego element dominates Jovan's character, as evidenced by the attitudes displayed by Jovan's character, namely the attitude that upholds ethics and morals and the attitude of giving in. This can be seen from the way these characters deal with problems and make decisions to solve these problems, as well as by understanding the character’s psychological condition.

Abstract

The two topics covered in this study are: (1) the usage of diverse expressive speech actions in Habiburrahman El Shirazy's Cinta Suci Zahrana novel and (2) the speech act techniques employed in the novel. The novel Cinta Suci Zahrana by Habiburrahman El Shirazy's expressive utterances served as the study's source of data. It uses qualitative data. The data collection techniques in this study were: (1) recognizing and analyzing the context of the discussion that includes expressive speech acts in the book Cinta Suci Zahrana by Habiburrahman El Shirazy, (2) determining the intent and purpose of the utterances conveyed by speakers according to the speech situation, (3) comprehending and evaluating the speech patterns utilized by the characters in the book Cinta Suci Zahrana by Habiburrahman El Shirazy, (4) Making a list of the expressive speech acts utilized by the characters in Habiburrahman El Shirazy's Cinta Suci Zahrana. Additionally, the following steps were taken in the analysis of the data in this study: (1) identify data on the variety of expressive speech acts and speech strategies obtained, (2) classify the data based on research objectives, and (3) linking the data analyzed with the theory used in research. This study came to two conclusions. In the book Cinta Suci Zahrana, there are six different categories of expressive speaking acts. Second, Habiburrahman El Shirazy's Cinta Suci Zahrana employs five speech-acting techniques.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to (1) describe the forms of expressive speech acts used by Deddy Corbuzier in video podcasts on Youtube. (2) describe the form of speech strategy used by Deddy Corbuzier in video podcasts on Youtube. This type of research is qualitative research using descriptive methods. The research data is in the form of utterances that contain expressive speech acts in video podcasts on Youtube used by Deddy Corbuzier, while the data source for this research is Deddy Corbuzier's video podcast which presents government officials as resource persons. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that Deddy Corbuzier dominantly used expressive speech acts to criticize, because the video podcasts studied were video podcasts that presented government officials as resource persons, indicating that many criticisms were conveyed by Deddy Corbuzier to government officials as citizens. Meanwhile, the strategy of speaking frankly without further ado is dominant because the strategy of speaking frankly without further ado is a speaking strategy in which the speech is told as it is without preamble in its delivery.
