Abstract

Given the importance of recovery for athletes during rest periods, as it is one of the components of the training load in achieving appropriate development in physiological or physical components, interest has emerged in these vital components of the training load, as the adaptation of the cardiovascular system during static exercise varies depending on the body's position, leading to a simultaneous shutdown of the pressure receptors. Hence, the researcher sees the importance of her research in the importance of the exercises the body undertakes through the suggested exercises after aerobic and anaerobic exercise during the recovery period, and in returning the athlete's body to its natural state in a better way. The problem of the research lies in the numerous problems indoor gymnastics coaches face during training for their games. During training, the athlete is exposed to two types of training effects (intensity and volume), which cause significant destruction of living cells in the body as a result of the high training load. Accordingly, The researcher believes it is necessary to conduct a field study to determine the best way for a player's body to recover after performing anaerobic exercise, allowing them to return to normal, reduce their heart rate, and return to normal. The researcher used an experimental approach, as it suited the nature and problem of the research. She conducted a pilot experiment, followed by pre-tests and exercises in the main experiment. She then conducted post-tests under the same conditions as the pre-tests. The SPSS statistical package was used to extract the results, which were then presented and discussed, supported by scientific sources. Through her research, she concluded that the proposed exercises had a positive impact on the recovery of some physiological indicators after anaerobic exercise for indoor gymnasts.

Abstract

The process of talent identification in youth volleyball is a complicated task because there are no effective and evidence-based instruments to combine technical and physical aspects of a player performance. The proposed study attempts to design, develop, and validate a Dual-Dimensional Evaluation Tool in order to increase the accuracy of the prediction and objectivity of talent identification processes. A cross-sectional and longitudinal observation and quantitative research design with 100-300 youth volleyball players (under age 18 years) was used sampling the youth players in schools, academies and volleyball clubs. The tool will involve two major dimensions; namely Physical Metrics (e.g., height, reach, sprint speed, agility, and jump performance) and Technical Skill Metrics (e.g., serve accuracy, setting precision, defensive digs, spike targeting, and game intelligence). Data were collected using standardized protocols on the one hand using trained assessors and on the other through video validation of skill-based assessment. Evidence of support was developed through exploratory factor analysis (EFA) as scale validation to support the two-factor structure, Cronbach alpha as a reminder of internal consistency, inter-rater reliability concerning the subjective ratings and regression modeling in regards to the predictive capacity of the scores of future performance outcomes. Test difficulty and scoring were refined on the basis of preliminary pilot testing of 30 participants. The last scoring system resulted in a normalised Talent Index Score that was based 60 percent technical performance, and 40 percent physical performance. The findings proved to be highly reliable (alpha > 0.85) and articulately distinguished into dimensions and correlations were significant between tool scores and future competitive success. The suggested assessment protocol provides coaches and talent scouts with a valid and flexible platform to employ a consistent and methodical process of recognizing potential youth volleyball players and advising the long-term athlete development schemes.

Abstract

Sport training no longer relies solely on coaches' experience, intuition, and practice as it did in the past. Instead, it has become more advanced and precise, thanks to artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. In the digital era, athletes and coaches now have access to advanced analytical tools that enable them to assess performance with high levels of accuracy, surpassing traditional human capabilities. The research problem stems from the fact that many young players experience a decline in their performance during matches in the Iraqi league due to reduced speed endurance. This decline negatively impacts passing accuracy, decision-making speed, and the ability to excel in one-on-one situations. This issue prompted the researcher to design a training program using AI-enhanced performance sensors based on players' physical levels to develop speed endurance and some fundamental football skills.

Abstract

In light of rapid advancements across various fields, the domain of sports stands out for its growing emphasis on scientific planning grounded in testing and measurement. These tools play a critical role in evaluating athletes’ performance and identifying their physical and technical capabilities. Periodic testing serves as an effective means of assessing these attributes and enhancing athletic performance. Within this context, artificial intelligence—particularly artificial neural networks—emerges as a sophisticated method for analyzing sports data and constructing precise models that link various performance variables. Problem of Study lies in the absence of a scientifically accurate model based on neural networks to analyze the relationship between muscular strength and shooting performance in handball. The study aims to develop a model that contributes to the scientific evaluation and development of athletes by identifying the relationship between muscular strength and different types of shooting. The researchers employed a descriptive methodology using correlational analysis. Sample consisted of (30) players from the Premier League during the 2024–2025 season. Muscular strength and shooting types were measured, and the data were processed using neural network techniques. Results demonstrated the effectiveness of neural networks in identifying correlational relationships and the relative importance of the studied variables. This enabled the construction of a precise model linking muscular strength to shooting types. The study recommends the application of this model in sports training and the adoption of modern statistical programs, such as neural networks, to enhance athletic performance

Abstract

The importance of this study stems from the premise that aquatic exercise can expedite recovery and improve the range of motion and functional strength of the injured shoulder through the use of in-water assistive implements—such as aquatic (foam) dumbbells, floatation boards, and hand paddles—while enhancing neuromuscular responsiveness in individuals with rotator cuff injuries. The study aimed (1) to design a set of rehabilitative exercises employing diverse modalities within an aquatic environment for athletes diagnosed with rotator cuff tendinitis or tears, and (2) to examine the effect of these aquatic rehabilitative exercises on this population. An experimental approach was used, employing a single-group pretest–posttest design appropriate to the study’s nature and objectives. The sample comprised six athletes from various sports who had clinically diagnosed rotator cuff tendinitis or tears. Field procedures included trials and tests to measure shoulder joint range of motion (ROM) in the following movements: flexion, extension, abduction, adduction, internal rotation, and external rotation; as well as muscular strength in the same planes (flexion, extension, abduction, adduction, internal rotation, and external rotation). Based on the results obtained, the researcher concluded that rehabilitative exercises utilizing diverse aquatic modalities have a positive effect on the rehabilitation outcomes of the study participants. The findings showed statistically significant differences between pre- and post-measurements for all ROM variables, indicating the effectiveness of the aquatic program in improving the ROM of the injured shoulder. Statistically significant improvements were also recorded in all shoulder muscular strength variables, suggesting that the in-water rehabilitative exercises substantially increased rotator cuff muscle strength in the injured athletes. The researcher recommends incorporating aquatic rehabilitative exercises using varied aquatic implements into return-to-function programs for athletes with rotator cuff injuries, given their clear and significant impact on ROM and muscular strength.

Abstract

With the growing interest in extracurricular activities within higher education institutions, it has become essential to analyze and assess the efficiency of sports activity departments in organizing university championships. This can be achieved by examining the perspectives of those working in this field, as they are the most qualified to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the organizational system. Organizational efficiency represents a central element in this context. In recent years, noticeable variation has been observed in the levels of an organization from one championship to another, indicating discrepancies in management and planning approaches, as well as in the preparedness of the human resources responsible for sports activities. This prompted the researcher to identify the problem and purpose of the study: to evaluate the level of organizational efficiency in managing university sports championships from the perspective of sports activity staff. The analytical descriptive method was adopted, and the research population was intentionally selected, consisting of sports activity staff at Iraqi universities. The researcher employed a questionnaire as the main tool to study the phenomenon—namely, organizational efficiency. The study concluded that administrative organization and organizational planning received the highest evaluations among the assessed areas, indicating the presence of a solid administrative and structural foundation. The researcher recommended strengthening communication and coordination aspects through the establishment of effective communication channels and scheduling regular meetings between committees.

Abstract

Sports injuries are considered a significant issue for athletes in general and for individuals with disabilities in particular, as they represent a major factor affecting the physical performance of disabled individuals who engage in sports and physical activities. People with disabilities already experience limitations and reduced mobility due to their impairments, which increases their risk of injury during physical activity, whether from improper movements or actions that exceed their natural physical capacity. One common injury among wheelchair users in various sports is lower back pain, characterized by the onset of pain and limited mobility in the lumbar region. This condition can impede athletic performance, leading to temporary cessation of sports activities until the pain subsides. Recurrent episodes may result in complications or more severe injuries. Even minor lower back pain, if not addressed with appropriate medical and therapeutic measures, can develop into a serious condition. Through a review of existing literature, the researcher observed that current rehabilitation and treatment programs for lower back injuries may not adequately meet the specific needs of individuals with disabilities. Therefore, the researcher designed a set of exercises tailored to the physical capabilities of wheelchair users, incorporating the programmed spinal traction device (DRX9000) and additional assistive tools, under the supervision of a specialized orthopedic physician and physiotherapy experts.
