Abstract

Proficiency in Indonesian language is a key foundation for regional students adapting to the academic climate at university. Megarezky University, in collaboration with the South Sulawesi Provincial Language Center, has initiated a language enrichment program for students from Yalimo. However, an evaluation of the implementation showed that the conventional (face-to-face) program experienced sustainability challenges and was discontinued after several meetings due to technical and time constraints. This activity aims to provide a solution in the form of mobile-assisted language learning as a flexible, inclusive, and sustainable learning alternative. The implementation method includes a preparation stage, training on the use of digital learning applications, intensive mentoring via smartphone, and regular evaluations. The results of the activity indicate that the use of mobile phones successfully overcomes limitations of space and time, increases the active involvement of Yalimo students from various study programs (Midwifery, Nursing, Nutrition, Pharmacy, and Medical Laboratory Technology), and increases self-confidence in speaking, reading, and academic writing skills.

Abstract

The increasing number of elderly people in Indonesia has resulted in an increase in various health problems, one of which is the risk of falls, which can lead to injury, disability, decreased quality of life, and even death. The risk of falls in the elderly is influenced by various factors, such as decreased balance, muscle weakness, impaired vision, chronic diseases, the use of certain medications, and unsafe environmental conditions. The elderly's lack of knowledge regarding risk factors and prevention efforts means that falls are still common in the community. This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge and awareness of the elderly regarding fall risk prevention through health education at the Cendrawasih Community Health Center in Makassar. The activity was implemented through health education using interactive lectures, discussions, question and answer sessions, and the delivery of material using educational media that is easy for participants to understand. The material provided includes fall risk factors, danger signs, home environmental modifications, simple balance exercises, and the importance of physical activity and regular health checks. This educational program is expected to increase the elderly's understanding of fall prevention measures, thereby encouraging behavioral changes towards a healthier, more independent, safe, and productive life. In addition, this activity strengthens the role of community health centers as primary health care facilities in implementing promotive and preventive efforts for the elderly group.

Abstract

International internships are an important means for students to gain cross-cultural work experience while improving their competitiveness in the global labor market. However, the administrative process for departing on an overseas internship is often a major obstacle for students, ranging from document processing, visa application, health examination, to funding. This community service activity aims to assist students of Universitas Islam Makassar through the administrative process until they were declared eligible and departed to join an international internship program in Taiwan. The assistance was carried out through several stages: socialization and initial selection, document and visa processing assistance, health examination facilitation, funding advocacy through collaboration with Lembaga Amil Zakat (LAZ) Kalla as sponsor, an official farewell ceremony led by the university rector, intensive mentoring through an online communication group during the internship period, and post-return evaluation. The results show that structured mentoring accelerated the completion of administrative requirements, reduced students' financial constraints through a sponsorship scheme, and maintained continuous communication and monitoring while students were in Taiwan. This activity is expected to serve as a model of international internship mentoring that can be replicated by other study programs or faculties within the university

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology requires teachers to design more interactive and student-centered learning experiences. However, observations conducted at Madrasah Aliyah Galesong Selatan, Takalar Regency, revealed that most teachers still relied on conventional teaching materials and assessment methods, resulting in suboptimal integration of digital technology into the learning process. This condition limits the variety of instructional media that can enhance student engagement and learning motivation. Therefore, this community service program aimed to improve teachers’ competencies in developing interactive teaching materials and assessments using the Wayground platform. The activity was conducted on July 9, 2026, employing lectures, demonstrations, hands-on practice, discussions, and mentoring as its primary methods. The target participants were 16 teachers from various subject areas at Madrasah Aliyah Galesong Selatan. The program began with presentations on digital learning, followed by demonstrations of Wayground features, practical sessions on creating quizzes and interactive learning activities, and mentoring in the development of instructional products. The results indicated that participants successfully understood how to use Wayground and were able to independently develop various forms of interactive assessments and learning activities. Furthermore, participants demonstrated high enthusiasm throughout the training and reported that Wayground was easy to use and had strong potential to enhance student participation in learning activities. Overall, the program successfully improved teachers’ digital competencies and supported the implementation of more innovative, interactive, and 21st-century-oriented learning practices.

Abstract

Microteaching activities are an essential component of teacher professional education, aiming to develop the pedagogical, professional, social, and personal competencies of prospective teachers. One effective way to create meaningful learning experiences for early childhood students is through play-based learning that aligns with their developmental characteristics. This activity aimed to introduce different types of transportation (land, sea, and air), develop children's critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills, and foster character values and gratitude among children aged 4-5 years. The learning process was carried out using a simple scientific approach through observing, discussing, experimenting, and reflecting with the support of the balance and sort ball media. Children observed pictures of vehicles, classified them based on their types, and participated in a paired game by carrying picture balls using chopsticks. Evaluation was conducted through observation using checklists and anecdotal notes to assess the achievement of learning objectives. The results showed that most developmental indicators were achieved, including cooperation, balance, vehicle classification and identification, and turn-taking during play. Therefore, play-based learning through the balance and sort ball media can serve as an effective alternative for promoting the holistic development of young children.

Abstract

Abstract The Family Planning (KB) program is a strategic government initiative to realize quality families through birth spacing and improved reproductive health. Limited community understanding of contraceptive methods remains an obstacle to achieving program targets, particularly in agrarian areas such as Libureng District, Bone Regency. This community service activity aimed to improve public understanding of family planning through counseling conducted in collaboration between lecturers of Universitas Negeri Makassar and the local BKKBN. The method consisted of preparation, interactive counseling implementation, and evaluation stages, targeting fertile-age couples, family planning cadres, and sub-district officials totaling approximately 40 participants. Results showed improved participant understanding of contraceptive methods, the benefits of Long-Term Contraceptive Methods (LTCM), and a more open attitude toward the KB program. This activity confirms that synergy between higher education and government institutions is an effective strategy for supporting the Bangga Kencana program at the sub-district level.

Abstract

Colostrum is a protective fluid rich in anti-infective agents and high in protein, secreted from the first to the fourth day postpartum. Globally, it is stated that initiating breastfeeding from the first day of life can reduce neonatal mortality by 16%, and by 22% if the infant is breastfed within the first hour of birth.This study aimed to determine the relationship between the knowledge and attitudes of postpartum mothers regarding colostrum administration to newborns at the Kassi-Kassi Public Health Center (Puskesmas).This was a quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach. The population consisted of 30 postpartum mothers, and the sample size was 30, selected using total sampling technique. The research instrument used was a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test. The results showed a significant relationship between maternal knowledge and colostrum administration (p=0.000), as well as a significant relationship between maternal attitudes and colostrum administration (p=0.05).It is concluded that there is a relationship between maternal knowledge and attitudes toward colostrum administration. It is recommended that mothers who have just given birth provide colostrum to their newborns.
