Abdi Samulang adalah Jurnal pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang diterbitkan dan dikelola oleh Yayasan Habiburrahman Jamalu Bina Ummat dalam bidang sosial. Jurnal ini diharapakan dapat menjadi alat informasi dan sosialisasi mengenai hasil-hasil pengabdian dari seluruh dosen, peneliti, dan praktisi tentang berbagai macam inovasi dan solusi-solusi dalam berbagai persoalan dalam masyarakat. Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase creativity and new innovations in the teaching and learning process as well as to help develop students' digital skills. The method used is mentoring through several stages of activities, namely: 1) coordinating with the fifth-grade homeroom teacher and the principal of SDN 250 Maroanging to provide assistance in training on the use of Canva, 2) Explain the aims and objectives of providing assistance training on the use of Canva, 3) Present Canva material and teach students how to use the Canva application. 4) provide feedback to the participants with the aim of finding out to what extent the participants understand the procedures for using the Canva application as a learning medium. The partners for this PKM activity are fifth-grade students at SDN 250 Maroanging, numbering around 20 people. The evaluation was carried out to see the extent of participants' understanding and skills in using the Canva application and its impact on the learning process in the classroom. The results of the PKM implementation show that after participating in training assistance activities on using Canva, the training participants have succeeded in creating learning media such as infographics, powerpoints and learning videos. The outcome of this activity is that students as training participants have the knowledge and ability to create media via Canva. Furthermore, most students immediately committed to using the Canva application in the learning process and utilised it as an interesting digital learning media.

Abstract

This community service activity is aimed at elementary school children. This project is centered on the implementation of the Teaching Campus program, with work programs in the form of learning activities such as increasing literacy and numeracy, as well as establishing private classrooms. This activity will last for four months, from August to December 2023. Students are assisted with the following activities: (1) initial observation; (2) implementation stage, which includes assisting teaching and learning activities and leading individual classes. (3) The assessment stage of this work program will be able to have a positive influence on these children by developing new abilities, a love of learning, and a learning mindset, therefore this work program activity is carried out with the agreement of partners. These children receive instruction in reading and arithmetic. Children also practice what they have learned so they can explain it to others in a way that makes sense to them. In order to develop into a person who is not shy about communicating his understanding, this is used to build his self-confidence.

Abstract

The need for innovation in learning in schools is increasingly urgent with the development of information and communication technology. In an effort to improve the quality of learning, approaches based on artificial intelligence (AI) have become a highlight in modern education. This Community Service aims to provide assistance in using AI applications as an effort to increase innovation in teacher teaching in schools. This assistance includes training in using AI applications, integrating technology into the learning process, and creating content that meets curriculum needs. With the help of this mentoring, educators can harness the potential of AI to increase learning effectiveness and provide more engaging and relevant learning experiences for students. The results of this Community Service activity show that the partners (teachers) are very satisfied with the training provided. This is also supported by very effective interactions during activities. Mentoring is expected to make a positive contribution to improving the quality of education at the Education Unit level, especially for teachers at Pannara State Elementary School, Makassar City, South Sulawesi.

Abstract

micro and small businesses (MSBs) through the implementation of sustainable business development strategies. A partnership approach is employed with MSBs to implement sustainable business practices, including environmental, social, and economic management. The development method involves training, consultation, and the implementation of sustainable practices. The research findings indicate improved performance of MSBs and their positive impact on the environment and local communities. In conclusion, the application of sustainable business development strategies can enhance the sustainability of MSBs and their contribution to community development.

Abstract

English competency assistance is one of the main things that a worker must have. The ability to speak English is a basic skill that a person needs in this era of globalization related to the introduction and mastery of science and technology. However, based on the results of observations made at Basarnas Makassar, the English language competency of several employees is still very minimal. The knowledge possessed by human resources in the office is the main factor in the use of English which is still very minimal, and many employees even think that learning English is still not an important thing in employees' careers and duties. Based on these findings, it is very necessary to provide support for the English language competency of Basarnas employees through English language teaching in the office. This community service uses descriptive methods. Based on the results of feedback from this PKM activity, the majority of training participants felt positive things about themselves starting to be confident in using English. So it can be concluded that this PKM activity is going well.

Abstract

Women often do not have the space to participate in the world of sports because of society's view that sports activities require a strong physique so participants are dominated by men. This activity is a community service carried out at the TNI AL Makassar Health Vocational School which aims to provide education that free space is open for women to be involved in sports activities. Even though there are many challenges faced by women if they want to excel, this activity provides several tips and tricks on how to start and maintain women's consistency in sports and provides examples of sports that are suitable for women. This activity was carried out in one of the halls which was attended by students of the Makassar TNI AL Health Vocational School on Thursday, June 27 2024.

Abstract

This journal documents the experiences and results of an English language learning program through engagement in English language communication. This research aims to measure the impact of direct interaction with native speakers and cultural context in improving English language skills, by providing practical guidance and describing the benefits gained through active participation in the English language community. Mentoring is carried out by connecting students with members of the English Community through online platforms or direct meetings. During mentoring, students are allowed to interact, ask questions, and learn directly from community members. The methods include group discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and language practice activities. English language learning assistance is carried out in four stages, namely; preparation, interaction, monitoring and evaluation. The results of English language learning assistance through the English Community are 1) increasing English language skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing English after interacting with community members. 2) students seem more motivated to learn English after being involved in this assistance. 3) apart from improving English language skills, students also succeeded in building social networks with community members. They feel more comfortable and confident in interacting with native English speakers.

Abstract

Health and Physical Fitness are very important in physical activity work, good body condition will support daily activities to the maximum. Likewise, this also applies to village communities, especially in Bontomatene' village, Marusu District, Maros Regency. The people of Bontomatene village, who depend on farming and as fishermen, really need to maintain fitness and physical health. Excellent physical condition gives the body the ability to carry out activities well without significant fatigue. The method used in this PkM is outreach to the community. Through this activity, the village community understands the importance of health and physical fitness to improve the quality of life, especially in terms of physical health, because in essence exercise can be done anytime and anywhere according to the right dosage. This activity had a very positive impact on the Bontomatene village community, who previously did not understand why they should exercise, finally started to improve their health and fitness. The village community also understood how to prevent disease by doing physical exercises as a series of sports for health.

Abstract

This Community Service is intended for students in the form of an English Camp. This activity aims to improve the English skills of students in the Accounting study program at Makassar State University. This activity lasts for 3 days and 2 nights, starting from November 22 to 24, 2024, in Malino. The implementation of this activity includes opening, games, exercises, and English Presentations, where all participants must use English during this English Camp activities, both in and out of activities. The implementation of this activity also focuses on English presentation, where participants have prepared business idea innovations in advance and worked in groups before the English Camp was held. The results of their group discussions will be presented through PowerPoint media or the Canva model system, using English. The results of the implementation of this English Camp activity show a positive influence, one of which is the high motivation in speaking English, self-confidence, perseverance, and hard work in the implementation of this English Camp. Through this activity, it also shows that students are able to use English (although there are still many shortcomings) when situations and conditions require them to use it

Abstract

English language skills are an important requirement for E-COMER members in facing global competition. This PKM aims to improve the English language skills of E-COMER members through the implementation of a digital-based English Camp program. The implementation method is by implementing several interactive digital platforms, such as the Youtube application, Dualingo and Blogging, and learning videos (job interview simulations using English). The results of the PKM show that the digital-based approach can significantly increase the learning motivation of E-COMER members due to the flexibility of time and accessibility. In addition, participants felt a significant increase in their active communication skills in English, especially through conversation simulation sessions using video calls. Key factors for the success of the program include technological support, this PKM recommends that similar programs be implemented sustainably with the development of adaptive features to support individual learning needs. Thus, a digital-based English Camp can be an effective solution in improving the English language skills of E-COMER members, while preparing them to face the challenges of globalization.
