Abstract

This study discusses the phenomenon of language interference on the Instagram account of public figure Cinta Laura Kiehl. Language interference is a language phenomenon characterized by the entry of elements from one language into another language commonly used by bilingual or multilingual speakers. In this context, the interference of Indonesian and English on Cinta Laura's Instagram account is interesting to study because of its consistent and striking use in various uploads and digital interactions. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with a content analysis method on data in the form of image captions uploaded by Cinta Laura at a certain time. The results of the study show that the interference that appears can be classified into several linguistic levels, namely lexical, morphological, syntactic, and semantic levels. Lexical interference appears in the use of English vocabulary in Indonesian sentences. Meanwhile, morphological interference is seen from the structure of mixed word formation that does not comply with the rules in Indonesian. Syntactic interference appears in the form of sentence structures that follow the structure of English. Factors that cause interference include the speaker's bilingual background, the habit of using foreign languages in everyday life, the influence of an international social environment, and expressive and modern communication styles on social media. This study shows that interference in the context of social media is not merely a form of language deviation, but can also be seen as part of the construction of self-identity and digital communication strategies. These findings are expected to contribute to contemporary sociolinguistic studies and enrich understanding of the dynamics of language use in digital public spaces.

Abstract

Folklore is a cultural artifact that stores local wisdom and timeless character education value. One of the folk tales from the Malay coast of Bengkalis that is full of meaning is Merbau Bersiram Blood, a legend about betrayal, slander and a fight for honor between two royal commanders. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach, this article traces the story as a representation of moral education in the construction of Malay culture. Narrative analysis of story line, characters, and symbolism shows how values such as honesty, loyalty, and the consequences of injustice are subtly but powerfully embedded in the structure of the story. This story not only tells of a bloody tragedy, but also reflects the social mechanisms of Malay society in responding to betrayal and cultivating ethics. By re-exploring this story, this article raises the urgency of revitalizing oral traditions as a contextual and meaningful character learning medium, especially in local culture-based education ecosystems. Blood-Drenched Merbau is not just a legend, but a moral voice that echoes from the past for the future generation of Malays.

Abstract

The worsening ecological crisis, such as the floods that hit Parapat, demands a serious response from various elements of society, including religious institutions. This article highlights the role of the Church, particularly Huria Kristen Batak Protestan (HKBP), in caring for nature in Tanah Batak as a form of faith and social responsibility. Using theological and socio-cultural approaches, this study analyzes the contribution of HKBP teachings and Pope Francis' call in the encyclical Laudato Si' to the ecological awareness of the people. It emphasizes that the HKBP doctrine of the wholeness of creation and community-based ecological movements can be transformative solutions to environmental degradation. Through a case study of flooding in Parapat, this article demonstrates the urgency of church involvement in ecological advocacy and environmental education, and the importance of synergy between faith, Batak culture, and concrete action for the sustainability of God's creation. The HKBP's teachings on the wholeness of creation align closely with Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’, which calls for a radical shift in how humanity perceives and interacts with nature. By emphasizing the interconnectedness of all life, the HKBP doctrine encourages its followers to view environmental stewardship not only as a moral obligation but as an essential expression of faith. This view aligns with Pope Francis' call for an "ecological conversion," urging individuals and communities to recognize their role in caring for God's creation. Through the case study of flooding in Parapat, this article illustrates the real-world implications of ecological negligence and the importance of church involvement in ecological advocacy. The HKBP, along with other religious and community-based movements, can spearhead efforts to integrate environmental education into their teachings and local initiatives.

Abstract

The activity of strengthening Indonesian language education as a bullying prevention strategy at SDN 02 Simalanggang aims to raise students' awareness of the negative impacts of bullying and the importance of good communication in creating positive relationships, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4, which focuses on quality education. This program was carried out on June 20, 2025, involving 200 students and 15 teachers. The methods used include observation, socialization, effective communication training, and counseling for students involved in bullying cases. The results of the activity show a significant increase in students' understanding of bullying and the importance of speaking properly, as well as a 30% reduction in bullying incidents at school. Evaluation was carried out through direct observation, which showed positive changes in students' behavior, both as perpetrators and victims of bullying. This program also reinforces the concepts of effective communication and character education, which have proven to reduce bullying and create a safer and more inclusive learning environment. Based on these results, the activity provides great benefits for students' character development and creates a more supportive school atmosphere, contributing to the achievement of SDGs in quality education. The program involved a series of activities, such as observation to identify bullying incidents, socialization sessions to inform students about bullying and its consequences, and communication training to improve students' skills in handling conflicts constructively. Counseling was also provided to students who were either perpetrators or victims of bullying, helping them to understand the impact of their actions and how to manage emotions and behavior in a more positive manner. After the program, a noticeable shift in behavior was observed, particularly in the way students interacted with one another. A significant reduction in bullying incidents by 30% demonstrates the effectiveness of communication-based interventions.
