Abstract

How the emergence of ancient philosophy can influence Islamic education. This article explores the emergence of ancient philosophy and its influence in the perspective of the philosophy of Islamic education. Starting from the thoughts of Greek philosophers such as Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle, the concept of education they developed became an important foundation for the development of education in the Islamic world. Socrates with his dialogical method, Plato with the concept of education in the “Republic", and Aristotle with his empirical approach, all contributed to character building, the development of reason, and the attainment of wisdom. As Islamic civilization absorbed and adapted Greek philosophy, Muslim scholars integrated these ideas into the framework of Islamic teachings, resulting in a unique blend of Greek rationality and Islamic spirituality. This article explores how Islamic philosophy of education took shape through interaction with ancient philosophy, as well as how this intellectual legacy continues to influence the overarching concept of education in the Islamic tradition, which emphasizes the formation of the whole person, the harmonization of reason and faith, and the achievement of balance in the lives of individuals and society.

Abstract

Islamic education is the process of developing students' potential through teaching, habituation, guidance, nurturing and supervision to obtain various knowledge and Islamic values to realize the perfection of life both in this world and the hereafter. Philosophizing for some people is a hard job. Philosophizing is thinking, reflecting, contemplating, analyzing, reflecting and even thinking evaluatively. According to language, the term progressivism comes from the word progressive, which means moving forward. In the Big Indonesian Dictionary it is stated that the word progressive is defined as moving towards progress; aiming for improvement now; and rising levels. Education is a cultural process, therefore it grows and develops in the cultural flow of each society and often originates from the religion and traditions adhered to by the community so that its presence has strong roots in the culture of the community. Progressive education encourages a flexible learning approach and respects individual differences. Because each student has unique potential, rigid and authoritarian learning methods are not in accordance with the principles of progressivism.

Abstract

The madrasa, as an Islamic educational institution, plays a central role in the development of knowledge and Islamic understanding within the Muslim community. This article discusses the philosophy underlying the madrasa education system and its contributions to the formation of character and morals among Muslim generations. The study examines the fundamental values that form the operational basis of madrasas, such as tawhid (monotheism), ethics, and a love for knowledge, and how these values are reflected in the curriculum and teaching methods. Additionally, the role of madrasas in shaping a strong religious identity while balancing religious and general knowledge is explored. Using a descriptive-analytical method, this research reveals that madrasas not only function as centers of religious education but also as institutions that cultivate integrity grounded in Islamic values. This article aims to provide new insights into the contribution of madrasas as educational institutions that prioritize moral and spiritual dimensions, along with the challenges they face in the context of modernizing Islamic education.

Abstract

Essentialism is a school that believes that the values contained in education should prioritize returning to values and culture that have been tested by time, which in turn will emphasize teaching that is clear and relevant to people's lives. The teaching method in essentialism is more traditional, where teachers play an important role in the teaching and learning process, while students are expected to receive and absorb the knowledge provided. In this article the author analyzes various sources, including books and journals, to discuss the view of essentialism in the context of developing a quality Islamic religious education philosophy. Essentialism emphasizes the importance of the core knowledge and values that must be taught to the younger generation. Abstract

This article aims to understand the impact of globalization on local cultural identity and social dynamics, particularly in the Dieng region, Wonosobo. Culture is a fundamental concept in human life, encompassing values, beliefs, norms, and traditions passed down through generations. In the modern context, globalization poses a significant challenge to the preservation of local culture, as technological advancements and cross-cultural exchanges accelerate the spread of foreign cultures. The effects of globalization influence local cultural identity and social dynamics, often forcing local cultures to compete with global ones. This article examines three important aspects: the background of cultural emergence, the function of culture in social life, and the dynamics of culture in the era of globalization. Descriptive and qualitative methods are used to explain cultural changes and challenges in the modern era. The research results indicate that, while globalization brings opportunities, it also poses risks of losing local cultural identity. Therefore, strategic efforts are needed to preserve local culture amidst the tide of globalization
