Abstract

Mental disorders have different manifestations and symptoms but are generally characterized by some combination of disturbances of thought, perception, emotion, behavior, and impaired relationships with other people. Severe mental disorders, including schizophrenia, are prone to stigma. Good self-acceptance has a robust negative correlation with stigma. This study examines the effect of Islamic acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) on self-acceptance in patients with mental disorders. The research method is quantitative with a semi-experimental pre-post-test. Respondents in this study were 31 patients with mental disorders who were selected using a purposive sampling technique that met the criteria of being Muslim, awareness, and understanding of patients with mental disorders experienced in the good category, namely being aware of the disease experienced. The measuring instrument used in this study consisted of a demographic questionnaire and an Unconditional Self-Acceptance Questionnaire (USAQ). Results showed that ACT with Islamic approach significantly increased self-acceptance in a patient with mental disorders (P<0.001). ACT can be used as an effective intervention to increase self-acceptance in a patient with mental disorders.

Abstract

Hypertension is defined as a condition that blood pressure is more than 140/90 mmHg. Because the aging process causes blood vessels to stiffen and the elasticity of the ventricular walls to decrease, the elderly are categorized as a health susceptible category. This disorder can lead to hypertension, which can have catastrophic effects such as stroke and even death. The purpose of this study was to determine isometric handgrip exercise (IHE) therapy accompanied by degung instrumental music affects blood pressure changes in elderly people with hypertension. A quantitative design with a quasi-experimental approach, pretest and post-test methodologies, and a control group was used for the study. The sample strategy employed in this study will be non-probability sampling (purposive sampling). 59 samples were collected and divided into intervention and control groups. This study lasted 2 × 2 minutes, was interrupted by 3 minutes of rest, and was conducted on three consecutive days. The result of study showhed that the Sig (2-tailed) value was 0.00, indicating that there is an influence between the Isometric Handgrip Exercise intervention accompanied by Sundanese degung instrumental music on blood pressure changes in elderly people with hypertension. The IHE intervention accompanied by Sundanese degung instrumental music is recommended as IHE in decreasing blood pressure in hypertension patients

Abstract

Cardiac arrest is the sudden cessation of a person’s cardiac activity and is often fatal if corrective life-saving interventions are not performed quickly. The American Heart Association advocates the need for high CPR competency among healthcare providers to increase the cardiac arrest survival rate. This study aimed to determine the knowledge and practice of nursing students on the acquisition and retention of CPR. A quantitative descriptive-correlation design was used, and a sample of 76 nursing students of Universiti Malaysia Sabah were recruited via a non-probability purposive technique. Data were collected using an online survey questionnaire that consists of 3 sections: Demographic, knowledge of CPR, and practice of CPR. They were analyzed using the correlation method. The results of this study are about the knowledge and practice of CPR. Nursing students' knowledge of the acquisition of CPR could be higher (39.36%), as is their practice (31.95%). The correlation coefficient between knowledge and practice is insignificant (rho = -0.073, p 0.531).In this study, both the knowledge and practice of CPR are independent.

Abstract

One of the health problems experienced by patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus is poor sleep quality. Poor sleep quality is an important factor in poor blood sugar regulation. This study aims to determine the predictors of sleep quality in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at a private hospital in Yogyakarta. This research was conducted using a cross sectional approach on 150 type 2 diabetes mellitus patients who were recruited at the Endocrine Clinic at a private hospital in Yogyakarta. The questionnaires used in this research were demographic data questionnaires, Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Data analysis was carried out using Multiple hierarchical linear regression. The research results show that the average stress score of respondents in this study was 16.13 (SD = 4.59), which is in the medium category. Global PSQI showed that respondents experienced poor sleep quality (mean = 5.33, SD = 1.79). The Perceived Stress Scale score contributed 23.6% to the sleep quality score. The higher the respondent's stress level, the lower the respondent's sleep quality. Nurses can develop interventions to improve the sleep quality of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients.

Abstract

Heart failure is caused by the heart being unable to maintain normal blood flow. Some patients with heart failure expressed that they needed nurses' help with their physical, psychological, and spiritual problems. Spiritual Well-Being and its components play an important role in a person's declining quality of life and have been linked to various other health factors. This research aims to determine the relationship between spiritual well-being and the quality of life of heart failure patients. The sample for this research was 100 respondents taken using the accidental sampling technique. Data analysis uses the chi-square correlation test if the test conditions are met. If the test requirements are not met, use the alternative Fisher exact test. The instruments used in this research were the Spiritual Needs Questionnaire (SpNQ) and the Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire (MLHFQ). The results of this study illustrate that there is no relationship between quality of life scores and all aspects of the spiritual needs of heart failure patients (p> 0.05). The results of the analysis carried out showed that NYHA functional status (p= 0.044) and ejection fraction (r= -0.205, p= 0.041) influenced the spiritual needs of heart failure patients. The results of this study indicate that the patient's spiritual needs are not related to the general quality of life score, but have a significant relationship with the physiological dimensions of quality of life, ejection fraction, and NYHA functional status.
