Abstract

Technological advances have a major influence on human life, including in the field of education, one of which is in the form of learning media. The development of learning media presents challenges for teachers, especially Early Childhood Education (PAUD) teachers who rely on media to visualize everything students learn as part of their literacy skills. However, the reality is that not all teachers are prepared to create learning media to improve children's literacy skills. For this reason, assistance for PAUD teachers is needed in making learning media, especially cartoon animation media that can be designed according to the wishes of the teachers. Therefore, Community Service this time chose the title Assistance in Making Cartoon Animation Media for Teachers to Stimulate Students' Literacy Ability at the Center for Early Childhood Education (PKG-PAUD) Activities, Bojongsoang District, Bandung Regency. The results of the activity showed an increase in the ability to make animated cartoons by 75.09% accompanied by a positive response from the teachers.

Abstract

Sport is an activity carried out systematically to improve physical and spiritual health. Exercise is also like a double-edged sword; on the one hand, exercise can improve health and avoid various diseases, but on the other hand, exercise can also cause injury if not done properly. Especially in early childhood, those who play sports can pose a danger to themselves, so the role of the teacher is vital in directing sports to early childhood children. The FITT principle (Frequency, Intensity, Type, and Time) is one of the principles that teachers can use to direct sports in early childhood correctly. The purpose of this PkM is to increase teacher knowledge to apply the FITT principle in sports at PKG-PAUD, Bojongsoang District, Bandung Regency. The method of implementing this activity goes through four stages firstly; a situation analysis is carried out on activity partners; secondly, a pretest is carried out by measuring the teacher's knowledge of the FITT principle in sports; the third is providing sports material and practice to children using the FITT principle, fourth at the end of the activity, post-test and activity evaluation are carried out. The results of this PkM show an increase in teacher knowledge about the FITT principle by 89.43%. Thus, in general, teachers have developed sports training programs for early childhood using the FITT principle.

Abstract

Sedentary behavior is behavior that is carried out in a sitting position or for long periods of time. The existence of the Covid-19 pandemic has an impact on lifestyle changes in the form of a decrease in physical activity caused by social disturbances and an increase in student eating patterns that occur in the incidence of obesity. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between sedentary behavior and the body mass index of students from the Faculty of Health Sciences, the University of Aisyiyah Bandung during the online learning period. The research method uses descriptive quantitative. Sampling using simple random sampling with a total of 246 respondents college students. The data collection technique used the Sedentary Behavior Questionnaire which was adapted by Rosenberg with a total of 18 statements and a scale of body mass index. The results showed that there was a relationship between sedentary behavior and body mass index with a correlation coefficient value (G) and p-value = 0.007 (p less than 0.05). so that the proposed hypothesis can be accepted. This shows that the higher a person is on sedentary behavior can affect obesity. The suggestion from this study is that students know how important it is to avoid sedentary behavior so that it does not have an impact on other health. Abstract

The elderly people face a decline in all physical functions as they age, as well as an increased risk of disease and other health issues such as short-term memory loss. Brain gym, a collection of simple movements that aims to unite the mind and body, is one of the sports aiming at maintaining and improving the quality of life. The purpose of this PkM activity was to socialize the brain gym and improve the elderly's short-term memory. The methods of implementing this activity were as follows: first, a situation analysis on activity partners was performed; second, a pretest was performed by measuring short-term memory using the HVLT instrument; third, the brain gym was implemented twice a week for three weeks; and fourth, at the end of the activity, a post-test and activity evaluation were performed. This activity was attended by 25 elderly people, and the results showed a 56.50 percent increase in pre-test and post-test scores. Because the data was not normally distributed, the Wilcoxon test was performed with the results indicating that the number the number 0.001 <0.05. It can be concluded that Brain Gym has a significant effect on the elderly's short-term memory. This increase in short-term memory occurred because brain gym movements increase blood circulation to the brain and stimulate the hemispheres to activate, thereby increasing thinking ability. The conclusion of this activity is that doing brain gym twice a week for three weeks can improve short-term memory, so it is suggested that the elderly do brain gym to maintain and improve their short-term memory

Abstract

Side effects of tuberculosis (TB) treatment with anti-tuberculosis drugs (ATDs) often include nausea. To address this symptom, an Islamic mindfulness approach is needed. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the effectiveness of Islamic mindfulness in reducing nausea intensity among TB patients undergoing ATD therapy. The research followed a quasi-experimental design with a pre-post test control group design. The study included TB patients experiencing nausea symptoms during ATD therapy. The sample of 38 participants was selected through consecutive sampling, which 19 individuals assigned to the intervention group receiving an Islamic mindfulness program consisting of meditation exercises and Islamic reflection, while the remaining 19 individuals formed the control group receiving standard care. Nausea intensity was measured using the Index Nausea Vomiting and Retching (INVR) scale before and after the intervention. The results demonstrated that the intervention group experienced a significantly greater reduction in nausea intensity compared to the control group (p<0.0001), with a Cohen's-d effect size of 2.04. Over 98.0% of patients in the intervention group showed a reduction in nausea intensity surpassing the control group's average. In conclusion, this study indicated that Islamic mindfulness is effective in alleviating nausea intensity among TB patients undergoing ATD therapy.

Abstract

Holistic nursing needs to evaluate barriers to self-management, insight from characteristics, religiosity, and spiritual well-being to understand and address the multifaceted needs of individuals with chronic conditions, such as diabetes mellitus type 2. This study aimed to identify the determining factors that affect the barriers to self-management and the variables affecting them among Indonesian patients with T2DM. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 101 patients recruited via purposive sampling from March to May 2023. The research instruments used were the Spiritual Well-Being Scale, Islamic Religiosity Scale, and Summary of Diabetes Self-Care Activities. The potential multicollinearity effects among the predictors of the barriers to self-management were also evaluated using multiple linear stepwise regression and collinearity analysis of variable inflation factors (VIFs). Most of the respondents had moderate spiritual well-being (52.2%) and high Islamic religiosity (60.4%) but also had barriers to self-management (55%). The F value of 5.888 with a probability of 0.004 (<0.05) showed that based on their regression coefficients, spiritual well-being, and Islamic religiosity simultaneously affected the barriers to self-management by 10.7%. The determinants that were found to affect the barriers to self-management were spiritual well-being and religiosity. These results suggest that it is necessary to develop an intervention model to improve the self-management of T2DM with a holistic approach.
