Abstract

This study is based on previous research that compared to textbooks, students find both the style and the level of writing of empirical articles such as research journal articles is difficult to understand. The stages of reading the journal articles are complex. Moreover, there are more studies found in sciences resulted various difficulties but limited research in a foreign language context as the journal articles are written in English. Therefore, there needs an investigation the complexity of reading journal articles to provide some way out to lessen the challenges. As a pilot study for further investigation, a questionnaire was delivered online using google form to 28 students enrolled in the courses of Advanced Reading and Advanced Writing, aged 19-22. They learn to read journal articles in the courses. The given questionnaire consisted of two sections; students self-rated confidence (adapted from Sego and Stuart, 2015) and difficulties in reading comprehension of journal articles (adopted from Chen, 2017). Using simple descriptive statistics, the results revealed that the students have three most major difficulties in reading journal articles, namely short attention span, having a problem understanding the main points, and Limited semantic knowledge (professional terms). They also have three main least challenges; do not know where to start reading, do not understand the tables, charts or statistics, memory failure. The students have the highest confidence in their ability to read and understand the content, however they have the least confidence in their abilities to write coherent summaries of journal articles. The findings imply that the students need to have more time to familiarize themselves with characteristics and construction of journal articles including what should be written in each section of the paper such as introduction, literature review, methodology, findings, discussion, and implication and limitation of the study.

Abstract

This research aims to know to know wheter there are effectiviness and the difference bettween using video based learning media and not using media with conventional learning riviewed from student economic concepts understanding. This research is a quantitative research type of quasi-experimental, research with research subjects namely students of class X A as many as 31 people as experimental class and class X B as many as 32 people as control class. Data collection is done by using the test technique. Based on the results of the descriptive analysis, the average for the experimental class increased by 17,75% while the average value for the control class experienced a slight decrease of 0,82%. Throught the results of hypotesis testing, the sig value is obtained. (2-tailed) t-test for Equality of Means is 0,001 so that the significance value is <0,05, which means that H0 is a rejected or Ha is accepted. So, it can be cloncluded the results research showed that there the difference between video based learning media with conventional learning toward student economic concept understanding.

Abstract

The research in this thesis is motivated by the low level of student learning activity in Social Sciences subjects. Therefore, the focus of research in this thesis is how teachers make efforts to improve learning activities. This research also aims to find out what efforts teachers have made to improve social studies learning activities in class VIII at SMPN 2 Telen. The type of research carried out was descriptive qualitative. The informants in this research were social studies teachers. Data collection was carried out by direct observation and interviewing social studies subject teachers. Based on the research results, it was concluded that the teacher's efforts to increase social studies learning activities in class VIII SMPN 2 Telen are reflected in his efforts as follows: (1) The teacher attracts students' attention, (2) The teacher motivates students before explaining the lesson material, (3) The teacher encourages students to be active during the learning process, (4) The teacher explains the basic competencies of the material to be discussed, (5) The teacher explains the objectives that must be achieved from the material being studied, (6) The teacher explains the competencies that students must have before starting the lesson , (7) The teacher provides an overview of the material that will be discussed, (8) The teacher tells students easy ways to understand the material, (9) The teacher uses interesting learning methods, (10) The teacher uses learning media according to the material being studied, ( 11) The teacher diligently asks students about the material studied, (12) The teacher responds to questions asked by his students, (13) The teacher conducts an evaluation at the end of the lesson and (14) The teacher concludes the lesson material. The efforts made by teachers to increase social studies learning activities for class VIII students are categorized as "maximum" with a percentage of 76.19%.

Abstract

This research aims to find out whether brand image and service quality have a significant effect on consumer satisfaction at the Janji Jiwa Jilid 490 coffee shop. The sampling technique used was non-probability sampling. Data collection carried out was a questionnaire distributed to 96 consumers, observations and interviews. The data analysis technique uses multiple linear regression analysis. The partial t test results for each variable brand image and service quality have a positive and significant effect on consumer satisfaction, then the F test results show that simultaneously brand image and service quality have a positive and significant effect on consumer satisfaction, this can be seen from the results of statistical analysis using significance value 0.000 < 0.05. Service quality is the dominant variable influencing consumer satisfaction. The R Square value is 50.8% while the remaining 49.2% is influenced by variables not examined in this research.

Abstract

The condition of revenue sharing funds from natural resources in East Kalimantan Province shows fluctuating conditions tending to decline, profit sharing funds contribute positively to the regional financial assistance budget which is useful for regional progress and development. The aim of this research is to determine the magnitude of the contribution of natural resource revenue sharing funds to financial aid spending, as well as determine the largest contribution from both renewable and non-renewable natural resources. This research is a type of qualitative research with data collection techniques using documentation and data analysis using the fiscal decentralization formula. The results of the research show that every year the contribution of the Profit Sharing Fund contributes to the financial aid expenditure of the province of East Kalimantan, this is because the amount of the profit sharing fund tends to decrease every year while the budget for aid expenditure for the province of East Kalimantan continues to increase.

Abstract

The research entitled Analysis of Education Budget Allocations in the Samarinda City Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget for the 2017-2021 Period was carried out under the guidance of Mr. Prof. Dr. Abd. Rachim AF, S.E., M.Sc. as Supervisor I and Mrs. Vitria Puri Rahayu, S.Pd., M.Pd. as Supervisor II. The aim of this research is to find out the education budget in the Samarinda City APBD for 2017-2021, analyze and describe the proportion of the education budget in the Samarinda City APBD for 2017-2021. This research uses descriptive research with a quantitative approach. This research uses the entire population as a sample, namely time series data on the Samarinda City education budget for 2017-2021. The type of data in this research uses secondary data obtained from BPKAD Samarinda City. The data analysis technique used in this research uses the education budget proportion formula. The research results show that the education budget allocation for 2017-2021 has reached 20% except in 2020. The education budget in the research year was mostly used for indirect spending.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the potential for historiopreneurship-based businesses in the old mosque area of Samarinda city. This research was conducted as a descriptive research type with a qualitative approach, with information retrieval techniques using interviews and observation, the data was processed using qualitative analysis according to Miles and Huberman. The research results show that historiopreneurship-based potential is measured by three indicators, namely, type of business, environment and human resources. The results of the research show that people have poor independent financial management skills but already have an understanding so that financial management problems can be overcome, business owner sources are also able to carry out promotions and price competition due to threats from similar businesses. It can be concluded that there is economic potential based on historiopreneurship in the old mosque area.

Abstract

This research aims to determine whether or not there is an influence from the use of the experiential learning model with the help of PowerPoint learning media on student learning outcomes in economics subjects for class X SMA Negeri 2 Tenggarong Seberang. The method used in this research is a quasi-experimental design with a nonequivalent control group design. The research subjects were students in class X 6 as the control class and X 7 as the experimental class with a total of 66 students. The data collection technique used is a written test in the form of multiple choice and documentation. Analysis of learning outcomes using the t-test which showed a value of 0.008 < 0.05. This means that there is a significant difference between student learning outcomes in the experimental class and the control class, so it can be concluded that there is an influence of the use of the experiential learning model with the help of PowerPoint learning media on student learning outcomes in economics subjects for class X SMA Negeri 2 Tenggarong Seberang.

Abstract

This research aims to develop Android-based learning media, assess its feasibility, and evaluate student responses. The research employs the Research and Development (R&D) methodology with the ADDIE development model, consisting of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation stages. Data were collected through unstructured interviews with 6 students from classes VIII B and VIII D at MTs Al-Azhar Samarinda. The research results indicate that the material expert validation test yielded 97%, media expert validation test resulted in 85%, instructional expert validation test recorded 86%, small group trial obtained 91%, and large group trial scored 95%. Overall, the Android-based learning media for Integrated Social Studies (IPS) in Grade VIII at MTs Al-Azhar Samarinda scored 91%, indicating its "Highly Feasible" suitability for use in the learning process.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the experiential learning model assisted by YouTube learning media on the learning outcomes of class X students at SMA Negeri 3 Balikpapan. This research uses a quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group design. The subjects of this research were students in class X-3, totaling 36 students, as the experimental class and X-6, totaling 36 students, as the control class. The data collection technique used in this research is a test, namely pretest and posttest, then supported by other data in the form of documentation with data analysis using the sample t-test. The research results show that the sig. (2-tailed) t-test for Equality of means is 0.001 so that the significance value is 0.001 < 0.05, which means H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. So, it can be concluded that there is a significant influence of the experiential learning learning model assisted by YouTube learning media on the economic learning outcomes of class X SMA Negeri 3 Balikpapan students.
