Abstract

This experiment aimed to investigate the effect of hormonal priming with cytokinins and gibberellin on seed germination under salt stress conditions and its subsequent impact on the initial growth of Oryza sativa cv. Phka Rumduol. The experiment was divided into two parts: Part one examined the effect of hormonal priming (cytokinins, gibberellin) on seed germination of rice under salt stress (150mM NaCl solution). This part was arranged in a completely randomized design (CRD), and data collection included seed germination percentages, germination index (GI), and root and shoot length of rice seedlings. Part two investigated the effect of hormonal priming (cytokinins and gibberellin) on seed germination and initial growth of rice seedlings in nursery conditions. Similarly, this part was conducted in a CRD, with data collection spanning 30 days. Parameters assessed included seed germination percentage at 10 days after sowing (DAS), as well as root and shoot length, fresh and dry weight at 10, 20, and 30 DAS. Priming rice seeds with cytokinins and gibberellin induced seed germination under salt stress conditions and promoted rice seedling growth in the nursery compared to the control treatment of distilled water priming only. The overall results indicated that gibberellin at concentrations of 50ppm and 100ppm exhibited the greatest potential for promoting rice seed germination and initial seedling growth.

Abstract

This study explores the pervasive impact of social media on the academic pursuits of college students. Employing a descriptive survey approach, the research investigates various aspects of social media usage among students, encompassing communication and educational activities. Through the analysis of survey responses, the study examines how students allocate their time on social media platforms and its potential effects on their academic performance. The results reveal a nuanced relationship between social media engagement and academic outcomes, uncovering both positive and negative impacts. While social media offers convenience and connectivity, concerns arise regarding its addictive nature and potential distractions from academic endeavors. The paper concludes with a comprehensive set of recommendations for both institutions and students to manage the complex interplay between social media and academic success. These recommendations include implementing structured time management techniques, nurturing digital literacy skills, providing support for balancing online and offline activities, advocating for educational content utilization on social media platforms, and promoting responsible online conduct. Furthermore, the paper calls for collaboration among educational institutions, policymakers, and technology firms to formulate guidelines and policies that encourage healthy social media use while prioritizing academic goals.

Abstract

This study investigates the factors impacting brand switching within the smartphone category using both descriptive and causal research designs. Data from 200 participants were collected through structured questionnaires in a survey format, focusing on customers who recently changed their smartphones. Analysis was conducted using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) and Hayes Process Macros to assess moderation effects. Results indicated that customer innovation and pricing significantly influence brand switching, while product features, referrals, and marketing strategies were found to have negligible effects, indicating a lack of perceived value for customers. Additionally, gender was found to moderate the relationship between product features, marketing strategies, and brand switching. The findings of this research hold implications for marketers, emphasizing the importance of understanding demographic profiles to effectively prevent brand switching and develop competitive strategies in the smartphone market.

Abstract

In the clinic, the BNN Banjarmasin urine testing service is still manual, especially the registration and payment. It takes a long time and leads to a stay in service. The method in this research is a case study. Then a web-based computerised system is built so that for self-filled data in registrations and transactions, there is no need to bother with handwriting, and documents will be automatically recorded on the system. The author recommends that businesses integrate applications that are designed into their operations because doing so would increase the efficiency of all business transactions and allow the agency and patients to directly benefit from the system.

Abstract

The hardness test is one method to determine the effect of heat or cold treatment on the material. This research uses experimental methods. This research uses a type of quantitative research, namely clearly explaining the results of experiments in workshops on test objects, then analyzing the data using numbers. The results of testing using the Vickers method by taking 12 specimens and taking 3 penetrations can be concluded that changes in the structure of the material that has been heat treated results in the structure of the material becoming harder compared to that which has not received treatment.

Abstract

Foreign policy is the program that structures how a state maintains its relations with other states in international society. In the 21stcentury globalized world, the implication of foreign policy of a state for its survival and well- being has increased many folds. Since foreign policy is made ad executed by certain state institutions, it has a direct bearing on internal and external functions of the state. This article attempts to elaborate the nexus between foreign policy and the functions of state institutions. Building on a descriptive and analytical methodology, this article suggests that there is a direct link between institutional functioning and the formulation and execution of foreign policy, that is, the weaknesses and strengths in one realm affect the effectiveness of the other. It is therefore recommended here that governments must strengthen domestic institutional structures and should contribute to the formation of a strong institutional culture in order to safeguard their foreign policy objectives.
