Abstract

Improving Children's Short-Term Memory through Brain Gym with Mnemonic Approach Chunking Technique. This study aims to determine the effect of brain gym with a mnemonic method approach to chunking techniques on short-term memory in 3rd and 4th grade students. The study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The research subjects were 68 respondents selected using simple random sampling. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire which was analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results of the analysis showed an increase in the average short-term memory score from 7.01 to 10.14 after the intervention. The Wilcoxon test results showed a p value = 0.000 (p < 0.05), which means there is a significant difference between memory before and after the intervention. Brain gym with chunking technique mnemonic method approach combines a series of simple stimulation movements and a method of remembering numbers that are broken down into smaller chunks to facilitate memory. This method can be applied as one of the strategies in improving student memory, both in the educational environment and in nursing practice in the process of child growth and development and the process of educating elementary school children in implementing daily learning activities.

Abstract

Financial literacy is a crucial life skill encompassing knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to managing finances wisely. However, the financial literacy level of second-grade students in Class 2A at State Elementary School Kebonsari 3 Malang City remains low. This study aims to enhance students’ financial literacy through the implementation of a Problem-Based Learning model integrated with the Role Play method, supported by the use of Moneybag media in the topic "Wise Use of Money." The research employs a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach conducted over three cycles. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and documentation, and analyzed using descriptive quantitative methods. The findings indicate a progressive improvement in students’ financial literacy scores, increasing from an average of 63.14 in the first cycle to 66.57 in the second cycle. The integration of Moneybag media in the second cycle yielded a completion rate of 75%, surpassing the predetermined success criterion of 70%. Further enhancements in the third cycle, achieved through the incorporation of the Role Play method, resulted in a significant increase in the completion rate to 89.38%, categorized as very good. These results provide practical insights for elementary school educators in designing interactive and contextual financial literacy instruction. Theoretically, the study reinforces the effectiveness of combining Problem-Based Learning and Role Play in fostering foundational financial competencies among young learners.

Abstract

The low mathematics learning outcomes at State Elementary School Tanjungrejo 3 Malang are a concern in an effort to improve the quality of learning. One of the reasons is the lack of variety of learning models that are interesting and able to motivate students to actively engage in the learning process. To overcome this, this study aims to improve the mathematics learning outcomes of grade V students through the application  of the Game Based Learning model  assisted by Wordwall media. Wordwall is a digital platform that provides various types of interactive educational games that can be accessed online and offline. The research method used is Class Action Research (PTK) with two cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. Data was collected through learning outcome tests and student activity observation sheets, then analyzed descriptively, quantitatively, and qualitatively. The results showed a significant increase in student learning outcomes, with the average score increasing from 69.63 in the pre-cycle to 88.89 in the second cycle. The percentage of student learning completeness has also increased from 41% to 93%. In addition, student involvement in learning also increases with the use of  interactive Wordwall game media  . These findings show that the application of the Wordwall-assisted Game Based Learning model  is effective in improving students' mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

This research aims to improve the quality of learning in Pancasila and Citizenship Education to be more participatory, adaptive, and contextual through the integration of interactive approaches based on the needs of students and responsive to the local cultural background. The background of this research is based on the findings that the learning process is still dominated by conventional lecture methods that do not actively involve students, thus having an impact on low motivation, participation, and learning outcomes. The subjects of the study were 31 students of class VIII-E State Junior High School 17 Malang with heterogeneous characteristics in terms of academic and socio-cultural abilities. The research method used is Class Action Research with the Kemmis and McTaggart spiral models which are carried out in two cycles, each consisting of the stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. Data was collected through observation, interviews, learning outcome tests, and documentation, then analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. The results of the study showed a significant increase in student motivation, participation, and learning outcomes. Learning completeness increased from 45.2% in the pre-cycle to 74.2% in the first cycle, and reached 87.1% in the second cycle. The average score of students also increased from 69 to 82. Contextual interactive activity-based interventions tailored to the needs and cultural realities of learners have proven to be effective in creating a fun, relevant, and meaningful learning atmosphere. These findings contribute to the development of differentiation and local context-based Pancasila and Citizenship Education learning models in secondary schools.

Abstract

This study explores the forms, functions, and social meanings of code-mixing and code-switching in a digital youth podcast broadcast on the TikTok platform. Adopting a descriptive qualitative approach and grounded in Grosjean’s critical sociolinguistic framework, the research analyzes the transcript of a conversational podcast episode featuring two Indonesian teenage girls discussing the topic of boyfriends versus best friends. The analysis reveals that code-mixing serves not only as a communicative strategy but also as an identity marker, a symbol of modernity, and a medium for expressing social solidarity among urban female youth. Conversely, code-switching is employed to mark topic shifts, emphasize emotions, and manage interpersonal dynamics during the podcast interaction. These bilingual practices reflect a process of glocalization, wherein youth flexibly mobilize multilingual resources within digital, media-rich contexts. The study underscores the pedagogical relevance of integrating authentic, digitally mediated discourse into language learning to enhance multilingual literacy and critical awareness. It also contributes to bilingualism studies by highlighting how identity and symbolic power are constructed through everyday linguistic practices in online spaces.

Abstract

This study explores the application of the Project-Based Learning model to improve poetry writing skills among Grade X students at Vocational High School PGRI 2 Pasuruan within the framework of the Independent Curriculum. Although the curriculum promotes flexible and contextual learning, poetry instruction in vocational schools often remains conventional, leading to low student engagement and limited writing proficiency. This qualitative descriptive research involved classroom observations, interviews with Indonesian language teachers and students, and documentation of student poetry and learning materials. Data analysis followed Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, encompassing data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The results demonstrate that implementing the PjBL model enhances student motivation, critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity. Students actively participated in every phase of the project from idea development to poetry presentation, resulting in a more dynamic and meaningful learning experience. Teachers reported increased student engagement and autonomy, despite facing challenges such as diverse student abilities and time constraints. The study concludes that PjBL is an effective pedagogical model for fostering poetry writing skills in vocational education and aligns with the goals of the Independent Curriculum in promoting student-centered and experiential learning.
