Abstract

This study investigates the perlocutionary acts of Walid, a central character in the Indonesian film Bid'ah Cinta. It focuses on how his utterances not only function as commands or instructions but also help build ideological and moral authority. Using a pragmatic approach based on Speech Act Theory—particularly J.L. Austin’s concept of perlocutionary acts—the research analyzes selected dialogues to identify the power dynamics and ideological messages embedded in Walid’s speech. The analysis shows that Walid’s language influences other characters psychologically and morally. It portrays him as a dominant figure who shapes beliefs and behaviors. These findings have meaningful implications for language and literature education. They highlight the value of teaching students to recognize how language in literary texts reflects and reinforces social values. Integrating film dialogue analysis into the classroom can enhance students’ pragmatic skills, critical thinking, and appreciation of context in communication.

Abstract

This research aims to improve student learning outcomes in the Pancasila Education subject of Traditional Game materials through the application of the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach assisted by Padlet digital media. The background of this research is that there is still low student learning outcomes due to conventional learning methods that are less relevant to the local cultural context and the lack of use of interactive digital media in learning Pancasila Education in elementary schools. This research fills the gap in the study on the integration of CRT with Padlet media in Pancasila Education materials at the elementary level. The method used is the Kemmis & McTaggart model Class Action Research, carried out in two cycles which each consist of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages with 28 subjects in grade III of Bandungrejosari 2 Malang Public Elementary School. The research instruments include teaching modules, Padlet media, Student Worksheet, and evaluation tests. The results showed an increase in student learning completeness from 28% in the pre-cycle (average 45), to 57% in the first cycle (average 67), and a significant increase to 78% in the second cycle (average 80). These findings show that the application of the CRT approach assisted by Padlet digital media is effective in improving student learning outcomes. The implications of this study support the importance of using local culture-based digital media in learning Pancasila Education in the Merdeka curriculum to create a more contextual, interactive, and meaningful learning experience.

Abstract

This Classroom Action Research aims to improve the initial reading skills of grade II students at Tanjungrejo 1 Malang Public Elementary School through the implementation of the Structural Analytic Synthetic (SAS) method assisted by an encyclopedia. The SAS method was selected because it emphasizes learning to read by starting with whole sentences, which are then analyzed into words and syllables before being resynthesized. This approach is considered effective in helping students understand the overall structure of language and develop reading fluency. This research applied the Classroom Action Research design following the Kemmis and McTaggart model, implemented in two cycles, each consisting of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The data collection techniques included observation sheets for teacher and student activities, interview guidelines, documentation, and reading skills tests designed to assess students' abilities in recognizing letters, syllables, and comprehending texts. The results showed an improvement in students' initial reading skills, increasing from 64% in the pre-action stage to 75% in Cycle I, and further to 88% in Cycle II. Additionally, students demonstrated increased enthusiasm, participation, and motivation in learning to read. These findings indicate that the implementation of the encyclopedia-assisted SAS method is effective in enhancing students' early reading skills and creating a more engaging and meaningful learning environment.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how parents of children with hearing disabilities in Indonesia experience and construct emotional acceptance, with particular attention to the subjective meanings and emotional dynamics following their child’s diagnosis, as interpreted through an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) framework. This research employed a qualitative design using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis. Data were collected through in-depth, semi-structured interviews and non-participant observations involving three parents of children with hearing disabilities enrolled at a public special education school (SLBN) in Central Java, Indonesia. The study focused on capturing parents’ lived experiences and meaning-making processes. Data analysis followed systematic IPA procedures, including idiographic analysis and cross-case interpretation, supported by triangulation and member checking to enhance credibility. The findings reveal that parents experience emotional acceptance through dynamic and fluctuating processes that resemble the stages of denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance as proposed by Kübler-Ross. However, these stages do not emerge in a linear sequence. Instead, parents’ emotional experiences shift depending on psychological conditions, interpersonal relationships, spiritual beliefs, and access to emotional support. Denial functions as an initial protective mechanism, anger reflects feelings of helplessness and loss of control, bargaining represents attempts to preserve hope, and depression manifests as emotional exhaustion and social withdrawal. Acceptance develops as parents reconstruct meanings of disability and parenthood, demonstrated through adaptive actions such as learning sign language and redefining expectations for their child’s development. This study contributes theoretically by demonstrating that emotional acceptance among parents of children with hearing disabilities is an ongoing, interpretative, and non-linear meaning-making process rather than a fixed emotional trajectory.

Abstract

In an era of increasing societal complexity and rapid change, developing mathematical creative thinking has become a central challenge in mathematics education worldwide, particularly in cognitively demanding domains such as integral calculus. While conceptual understanding remains fundamental, research indicates that students’ engagement in creative mathematical problem solving is strongly influenced by dispositional and metacognitive factors. Among these, habits of mind are increasingly recognized as essential in supporting persistence, flexibility, and reflective thinking when students confront complex mathematical problems. This study investigates the relationship between habits of mind and mathematical creative thinking among undergraduate mathematics education students enrolled in an integral calculus course. Using a correlational research design, data were collected from 60 students through a habits of mind questionnaire and an open-ended mathematical creative thinking test assessing fluency, flexibility, and originality. The findings show that participants’ habits of mind and mathematical creative thinking were generally underdeveloped, with most students falling within moderate to low achievement categories. Correlation analysis revealed a very strong positive association between the two variables, indicating that students with more developed habits of mind tend to demonstrate higher levels of creative thinking in integral calculus. Habits of mind accounted for a substantial proportion of variance in students’ mathematical creative thinking, providing empirical support for their role as a dispositional foundation for creative thinking in advanced mathematics learning. These findings underscore the importance of instructional approaches that intentionally cultivate students’ habits of mind alongside conceptual understanding to foster sustained creative mathematical engagement.

Abstract

The cultivation of a robust literacy culture in secondary education is frequently hindered by stagnant, uninspiring physical environments that fail to spark student interest. This study analyses how the aesthetic redecoration of literacy spaces influences students reading motivation and learning engagement at State Junior High School 1 Galesong Selatan. Adopting a qualitative descriptive approach, the Research was conducted over four months, utilizing participatory observation, in-depth interviews with 30 purposively selected students and educators, and extensive documentation to capture participants lived experiences within a transformed aesthetic ecosystem. The results demonstrate that the strategic integration of visual arts including thematic murals, ergonomic furniture arrangements, and the application of color psychology successfully transitioned the literacy room from a sterile facility into an "aesthetic sanctuary." Findings reveal a profound transformation in students' perceptions and behaviors, characterized by a natural inclination toward increased visit frequency, prolonged engagement with reading materials, and heightened institutional pride. The discussion highlights that aesthetics serve as a silent pedagogical agent, lowering affective filters and rebranding reading as a creative social activity rather than a rigid obligation. This study concludes that "Aesthetic Pedagogy" offers an innovative framework for educational reform, emphasizing that physical space is a dynamic participant in the learning process.

Abstract

This research examines the validity of culturally-responsive evaluation instruments employed in Civic Education (PPKn) learning, specifically focusing on rights and obligations among third-grade students at MI Annur, West Jakarta. This research addresses the critical gap in empirical validation of PPKn assessment tools that integrate both civic competencies and Islamic moral-spiritual frameworks. Two culturally-aligned instrument types were utilized: cognitive test instruments measuring students' conceptual understanding of rights and obligations within Islamic ethical frameworks, and non-test questionnaires assessing attitudinal development and character application in daily school contexts. Results demonstrate that 87% of test items and 91% of questionnaire items exhibited high validity coefficients (r > 0.30), indicating strong cultural-pedagogical alignment. However, the study revealed a significant disconnect between cognitive understanding and attitudinal implementation among some students, highlighting the complexity of value internalization in dual religious-secular educational systems. These findings provide practical implications for curriculum developers working in Islamic educational contexts and offer validated frameworks for developing culturally-embedded assessment tools that bridge civic education with religious moral development, contributing to broader conversations about citizenship education in culturally diverse societies.
