Abstract

ABSTRACT Indonesia has a considerably high potential resources that can be harnessed to generate electricity through power plants. At Amurang Steam Power Plant (PLTU Amurang), coal is used for the fuel and boiler is the equipment to burn the coal producing heat. Boiler is one of the equipments in the thermodynamics cycle which aims to turn the water into steam. This study was conducted to determine the thermal efficiency of the boiler in PLTU Amurang Unit 1 based on operational data. The data collected from the PLTU Amurang . The data is then used to calculate the thermal efficiency of the boiler. Calculations using the direct method and the indirect method. The calculations shows boiler thermal efficiency is 91.73% and 92.33% respectively. When compared with the thermal efficiency of the boiler according to specifications then the difference is 0,41% and 0,19%.   Key Word: Boiler and Thermal Efficiency

Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to get the influence of cutting speed variation and feeding rate variation on turning machine to work piece surface roughness. The problem in this research is how the influence of Cutting Speed and feeding rate on turning machine to work piece surface roughness with method of variance analysis. Therefore, studying the turning machine and measurement of surface roughnes with some work piece are requird. From the cutting calculation result, it is found that if cutting speed is increasing, the surface roughness is decreasing, while if feeding rate is increasing, the surface roughness is increasing. From the variance analysis with 95 % of confidence level, result of the cutting speed variation on turning machine will not give significant influence to work piece surface, and the result of feeding rate variation will give significant influence. Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aim to determine the hardness number, the absorb energy and the price of coconut peeler material impact and to analyze the differences of mechanical properties of coconut peeler production from several blacksmith craftsmen in Minahasa. Basic material of coconut peeler is spring steel car. The coconut peeler is the result of three blacksmith craftmen centers in Minahasa. From the test result of the hardness specimen without treatment, the highest hardness value is 711.3774369 HVN while with the specimens of hardness test with treatments which the value for Wulauan is 259.1432198 HVN, for Parepei is 315.2173625 HVN , for Tombasian is 262, 1731511 HVN. As for the impact testing, specimen with treatment Wulauan 19.89 J energy absorption and impact the price of 1,321 J / mm², which is the energy absorption and impact the price of the highest compared with the treatment of test specimens in Parepei who holds 15.94 J energy absorption and impact prices 1,063 J / mm², and in Tombasian which has energy absorption and the price impact of 4.45 j 0.297 J / mm², as well as the untreated specimens that have absorption energy of 6.42 J and impact the price of 0.642 J / mm². . Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this research is to analyze the ratio of the snarled thickness on a lathe machine. The problem of this research is how the influence of the snarled thickness ratio on turning process with varying cutting speed and different cutting depth. Some tests on the turning process on a number of work pieces with same material type and different cutting condition is cerried out. The result shown that higher cutting speed make snarled thickness ratio weaken, while the larger cutting depth make snarled thickness ratio increased. With a 95% confidence level variation of cutting speed will influence to snarled thickness ratio on turning process either 0.25 mm of cutting depth or 1.00 mm of cutting depth Keywords: Snarled thickness ratio, cutting speed, cutting depth, turning process

Abstract

The Development of automotive todays is very fast because every single year there is always something new. This research aims to design fuel-efficient vehicles and environmentally friendly, especially the transmission is driven by an electric motor that used a chain sprocket transmission system is applied to the electric gocart. From the results of this research shows that the transmission can be used on a simple electric gocart transmission system chain sprocket is roll type single line, which consists of two sprocket and chain on rotation 1 750 rpm and 2 hp motor power. Dimensions obtained by the small sprocket diameter 35 mm with a number of teeth 9 pieces, large sprocket diameter 250 mm with a number of teeth 62 fruit and chain length of 1,243 mm at a distance of 381 mm spindle axis. Abstract

The need of lubricant based on the huge number of users and the significant increase of costumer each year has made lubricant as one of profitable mechanical thing. Quality control has a very important role in maintaining customer’s satisfaction as well. This research aims to analyze the service quality, mainly in distribution process, based on customer’s complaint. Customers were asked to give score on some attributes and fill in a questionnaire about their experience related to various types of complaints. Data taken were then analyzed using AHP method. The results show that “Assurance” has the highest weight score (0.313) and “Tangible” has the lowest score (0.118). The multiplication of weight score and faction resulting “Reliable” as the most critical attribute regarding service quality (0.9583)—close to “Understanding” (0.09567). Abstract

The function of steering system is to change the directions of wheel. The purpose  of this design is to be obtained a simple steering system. Beside that, in this work have been determined stresses, they are shear stress due to torsion and normal stress due to axial load and bending. Therefore, the strength of mechanism can be obtained. Based on the calculation, maximum  shear stress induce in steering system is 4,11 Pa and maximum normal stress is 0,206 Pa. moreover this design have been  obtained steering angle for some values of angle. The final  result of this design is some technical drawing that presented detail dimension of components. Keywords : Design, Steering System, Stress

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to integrate aspects of risk in the process of managing spare parts in PLTD Bitung. To achieve these objectives, this research is using AHP methods (Analytical Hierarchy Proses).   Froms the result of the AHP the weight of the criteria are as follows : availability of goods (0,9542) delivery time (0,9986). Wear rate (1.3293), risk (1,1439). From AHP methods, priority supply of spareparts wish regards to all criteria, the highest priority given to nidlle bearing parts (1,4028).   Keyword : AHP, Risk, Needle bearing, Criteria

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the damage of the propeller shaft using NON-DESTRUCTIVE-TEST method. The examination of the damage is conducted at ship of Anugerah Perdana 09which shaft’s diameter of 100mm and shaft’s length of 2,471mm, and Porodisa Vessel with diameter of 100 mm and length of 2,147 mm, there are two shaft, left and right, as the test object. Based on the examination result on both of the ship shafts, there are two damages. On Anugerah Perdana shaft, there is damage on the bottom side of the right keyway with length of 60 mm, while on Porodisa axis, there is one crack on the right keyway with length of 20 mm. Crack happended because on the shaft is because the ship bumping with reef or over-capacity. Keywords: Inspection, Crack or Defect Using Non-Destructive-Test

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze the strength of the shaft of the landing gear aircraft N-219 against the variation of cargo’s weight. The examined object in this study is the landing gear of N-219 aircraft produced by PT Dirgantara Indonesia. The static strength analysis was conducted on the stress and maximum deflection to the shaft of the landing gear N-219 aircraft. The results of this study showed that the variation of cargo’s weight affects the strength of the landing gear shaft where the increase of the cargo’s weight will result in a linear increase of deflection and stress. Finally, the allowed maximum weight of the N-219 aircraft cargo is 2500 kg with the landing gear shaft deflection of 0,00164 meter and the stress of 298 MPa. Simulation in this study was conducted by using ANSYS 2014, where this software provides load, deflection and stress analysis. It is found that the analysis of manual calculation and software-based calculation shows only little difference.   Keywords : Aircraft N-219, Landing Gear, Shaft, Strenght analyze
