Abstract

This research endeavor seeks to elucidate the degree of correlation between the motivational factors influencing students' learning and their corresponding academic performance in history courses at SMA Negeri 1 Paleleh Barat. The methodological framework employed in this investigation is grounded in a quantitative paradigm, utilizing correlational analytical techniques. Primary data were systematically gathered through the administration of structured questionnaires and interviews conducted with history educators and students, while secondary data were derived from a diverse array of scholarly literature and pertinent informational resources. The methodologies employed for the purpose of data acquisition comprised observational studies, qualitative interviews, structured questionnaires, and the analysis of relevant documentary sources. The results of this investigation revealed a statistically significant relationship between the learning motivation of students and their academic performance. This is substantiated by a correlation coefficient of 0.620, signifying 62%. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination was computed to be 38.5%, which suggests that learning motivation is responsible for 38.5% of the variability observed in student academic achievement, while the remaining 61.5% is attributable to external variables not examined within the scope of this research. Consequently, it can be deduced that learning motivation is a crucial determinant in the improvement of student performance in history courses at SMA Negeri 1 Paleleh Barat.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the existence of the huyula (mutual cooperation) tradition in the lives of the people of Mananggu Village, Mananggu District, Boalemo Regency, Gorontalo Province. The research used a qualitative approach, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that huyula is still practiced, especially in social events such as weddings and funerals, reflecting strong community solidarity and mutual care. The core values embedded in this tradition include sincerity, cooperation, unity, and selfless service. However, the practice of huyula is gradually declining in agricultural and other productive sectors due to socio-economic changes and the more individualistic mindset of younger generations. Nevertheless, the community still possesses the awareness and skills needed to carry out this tradition. The role of cultural leaders, village institutions, and educational efforts is essential to revitalize and preserve huyula as a marker of local cultural identity. This tradition remains relevant as a model of community collaboration that strengthens social cohesion amidst modernization.

Abstract

History learning is not only focused on mastering facts and event chronologies; it also serves as a medium for internalizing the values of struggle to shape students' character and historical awareness. One learning resource with the potential to support this objective is the history of the struggles of local figures-such as Mrs. Ruswo, a female freedom fighter from Yogyakarta who played a pivotal role in defending Indonesia's independence. This study aims to analyze Ibu Ruswo’s values of struggle based on Joyomartono’s framework and to contextualize them within history leaarning. The study use a qualitative method with a historical approach. Data were gathered from prior research on Ibu Ruswo’s struggle, supplemented by primary and secondary sources as well as relevant literature. Data analysis was conducted qualitatively through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, classifying the data according to Joyomartono’s five values of struggle: willingness to sacrifice, unity, cooperation, patience and perseverance, and mutual respect. The findings indicate that these five values are reflected in mr. Ruswo’s actions during the Dutch East Indies era, the Japanese occupation, and the War of Independence-manifested. These values are highly relevant to history learning, as they can be integrated as local history-based learning resources. This study affirms that contextualizing Ibu Ruswo’s values of struggle offers an alternative approach to developing history education that is more contextual, meaningful, and character-oriented.
