Abstract

Hyperemesis gravidarum is a condition of excessive nausea and vomiting in pregnant women that is worse than morning sickness, the cause is unknown. Psychological factors can worsen this condition, causing dehydration, weight loss, electrolyte imbalance, and complications such as liver damage and retinal hemorrhage due to increased blood pressure during vomiting. Treatment is done by administering fluids, glucose, electrolytes, and vitamins through an IV. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the incidence of hyperemesis gravidarum at the Pagar Merbau Health Center, Deli Serdang, in 2023. This study uses a descriptive correlational method with a cross-sectional design to analyze the relationship between independent and dependent variables simultaneously. Data were collected retrospectively from 36 respondents using a purposive sampling technique. The research instruments were questionnaires and observation sheets, while data analysis was carried out using the chi-square statistical test which showed a p value = 0.021. There is a significant relationship between age, knowledge, parity, and multiple pregnancies with the incidence of hyperemesis gravidarum in pregnant women at the Pagar Merbau Health Center, Deli Serdang.

Abstract

Mothers who have difficulty adapting to labor pain can cause uterine contractions to become uncoordinated, which risks prolonging the first phase of labor and disrupting fetal well-being. This study aims to analyze the effect of breathing relaxation techniques on the intensity of labor pain in the first stage at the Pagar Merbau Health Center, Pagar Merbau District, Deli Serdang Regency in 2023. This study used a quantitative method with a One Group Pre-Test Post-Test design. The study population included all mothers giving birth in the period from April to June 2023, with a sample size of 15 respondents. The results showed that before the intervention, there were 2 respondents (13.3%) who experienced mild pain, 6 respondents (40.0%) with moderate pain, and 7 respondents (46.7%) experienced severe pain. After the intervention, the number of respondents with mild pain increased to 8 people (53.3%), moderate pain decreased to 4 people (26.7%), and severe pain decreased to 3 people (20.0%). The results of this study indicate a significant change in the level of pain in mothers giving birth before and after treatment. Therefore, it is expected that midwives at the Pagar Merbau Health Center can optimize the application of breathing relaxation techniques as a method to reduce labor pain, especially in the first phase of labor.

Abstract

Background: Maternal health is a measure of the level of social welfare. Maternal death is the death of a woman during pregnancy, childbirth or within 42 days after the end of pregnancy. Perineal rupture is the second most common cause of postpartum bleeding. Tearing may coincide with uterine atony. Based on data from the World Health Organization (WHO), 2.7 million cases of perineal rupture occurred in mothers giving birth. This figure is estimated to reach 6.3 million in 2050. One way to prevent perineal rupture is to maintain the elasticity of the perineum. Increasing the elasticity of the perineum is done by means of pregnancy exercises. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between pregnancy exercise and perineal rupture in postpartum mothers at Anemia Of Pregnant Women At BPM Helena Astuti Sinaga. The research design is an analytical study with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study was all mothers giving birth at Anemia Of Pregnant Women At BPM Helena Astuti Sinaga in November-March 2023, namely 764 people with a research sample of 88 people. The sampling technique used random sampling and research analysis used the chi square test. The research results showed that the majority of pregnant women who took part in pregnancy exercise at BPM were 47 (53.4%) and those who did not do pregnancy exercise were 41 (46.6%). Inpartum mothers who experienced perineal rupture were 42 (47.3%) and those who did not experience perineal rupture were 46 (52.3%). Based on the results of statistical tests between pregnancy exercise and perineal rupture, the p value = 0.003 (p < 0.05). The conclusion of this study is that there is a significant relationship between pregnancy exercise and perineal rupture during birth at BPM Helena Astuti Sinaga. So it was suggested to Anemia Of Pregnant Women At BPM Helena Astuti Sinaga to improve services, especially for pregnant women, to do pregnancy exercises.

Abstract

Rupture of the perineum is one of the common complications in vaginal delivery that can increase the risk of postpartum hemorrhage, infection, and maternal death. One of the factors that contribute to the occurrence of perineal rupture is the baby's birth weight. Babies with a birth weight of ≥4000 grams can cause greater pressure on the mother's birth canal, increasing the likelihood of tearing of perineal tissue. In Indonesia, 75% of mothers who give birth vaginally experience perineal lacerations, and postpartum bleeding is still the leading cause of 40% of maternal deaths. This study aims to determine the relationship between infant birth weight and the incidence of perineal rupture in normal childbirth at the Lusi Marbun Independent Midwife Practice, Simalungun Regency in 2022.This study uses an observational analytical design with a case control approach. A sample of 30 maternity mothers was selected using the total sampling method. The data were analyzed using the Chi-square test to determine the relationship between birth weight and perineal rupture. The results showed that the majority of babies had a birth weight of <4000 grams (63.3%) and the majority of mothers experienced a second degree perineal rupture (70%). The results of bivariate analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between birth weight and the incidence of perineal rupture (p-value = 0.000). There is a significant relationship between birth weight and the incidence of perineal rupture. The greater the baby's weight, the higher the risk of perineal rupture in the mother during childbirth. It is important for health workers to carry out early detection of fetal weight, provide nutrition education during pregnancy, and prepare for the delivery process optimally to minimize the risk of complications.

Abstract

HIV/AIDS is an infectious disease that has a serious impact on the immune system and is at high risk in pregnant women. Mother-to-baby transmission of HIV can occur during pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding. HIV screening in pregnant women is important for the prevention of vertical transmission. However, the utilization rate of this test is still low, one of which is due to the lack of knowledge of pregnant women about HIV/AIDS. This study aims to determine the relationship between pregnant women's knowledge about HIV and the use of HIV testing at the Bintang Health Center, Central Aceh Regency in 2022. This study uses an analytical observational design with a cross sectional approach. The research sample amounted to 40 pregnant women who were selected by purposive sampling. Data was collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that the majority of pregnant women had sufficient knowledge about HIV/AIDS (40%) and most did not do HIV screening (55%). There was a significant relationship between pregnant women's knowledge about HIV and the use of HIV screening (p-value = 0.0001). There is a significant relationship between pregnant women's knowledge about HIV-AIDS and the use of HIV screening by pregnant women at the Bintang Health Center, Central Aceh Regency. Intervention efforts in the form of education and counseling are needed to increase the knowledge of pregnant women to encourage routine HIV testing in an effort to prevent HIV transmission from mother to child.

Abstract

Pregnancy is a physiological process that is accompanied by various changes, including hormonal changes that can cause nausea and vomiting (emesis gravidarum). One of the non-pharmacological interventions that can be used to manage these symptoms is acupressure therapy. This study aims to determine the effect of acupressure therapy on reducing symptoms of hyperemesis gravidarum in pregnant women in the first trimester at the Kuala Bangka Health Center, North Labuhan Batu Regency in 2022. This study uses a pre-experimental design with a pre-post one group design approach. The sample consisted of 20 pregnant women in the first trimester who experienced symptoms of hyperemesis gravidarum. The acupressure intervention was carried out for 3 days at PC6 and ST36 points. Measurements of nausea and vomiting levels were carried out before and after the intervention using a standard measurement scale. The results of the analysis showed that there was a decrease in the average rate of nausea and vomiting by 0.90000 after acupressure therapy was performed. The paired t-test showed a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05) and a calculated t-value of 7.285 > table 1.729, which means that there is a significant effect of acupressure therapy on reducing the symptoms of hyperemesis gravidarum. Acupressure therapy is effective in reducing the rate of nausea and vomiting in pregnant women in the first trimester.
