Abstract

Nursing care documentation plays a crucial role in nursing practice as it serves as legal evidence, a means of communication between healthcare professionals, and an indicator of service quality. However, nurses' compliance with documentation often faces various obstacles. Supervision by nursing managers is seen as an important strategy to ensure documentation implementation complies with applicable standards. This study aims to analyze the relationship between supervision and nursing care documentation at RSI NU Demak. The study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. A sample of 83 inpatient nurses was selected through proportional random sampling from a population of 107 nurses. The research instruments were a supervision questionnaire (17 items) and nursing documentation (20 items) whose validity and reliability have been tested. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of p<0.05. The results showed that the majority of respondents were aged <30 years (53%), were female (89.2%), had a Diploma 3 Nursing degree (51.8%), and had worked for <9 years (53%). Good supervision was found in 60.2% of respondents, while good documentation was found in 59.0%. The Chi-Square test results yielded a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05) with a correlation coefficient of r=0.981, indicating a very strong relationship between supervision and nursing documentation. Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between supervision and nursing care documentation, where the better the supervision provided, the higher the quality of the documentation produced. The results of this study reinforce the importance of the managerial role in improving the quality of nursing services, especially in terms of care documentation. Effective supervision not only functions as a control tool but also becomes a means of developing and strengthening nurses' competencies in meeting nursing practice standards. With structured and continuous supervision, nurses tend to be more disciplined, accurate, and consistent in documenting every nursing intervention they perform.

Abstract

Hypertension, commonly known as high blood pressure, is a condition where blood pressure in the blood vessels consistently exceeds the normal range of 140/90 mmHg. Central Java Province has the highest prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia, at 13.4%. In 2020, Purbalingga Regency reported 268,936 cases of hypertension. According to data from the Bojongsari Health Center, there were 11,596 hypertension patients in 2023. Among the 13 villages in Bojongsari District, there are villages that have experienced an increase in hypertension cases of over 20% annually, one of which is Karangbanjar Village, with 542 cases of hypertension in 2022 and an increase to 858 cases (26%) in 2023. Hypertension treatment can be done through complementary therapy such as progressive muscle relaxation therapy and hydrotherapy. This Community Service Program (PkM) was attended by 20 participants. The results from the pre-test to the post-test showed an increase in the average score, from 59 to 81.5. The evaluation of participants' skills indicated an improvement, with 90% in the “good” category and 10% in the “adequate” category. In addition, there was a significant change in participants' blood pressure after receiving therapy. This activity was carried out using lectures and discussions, with PowerPoint presentations, leaflets, and videos demonstrating how to perform progressive muscle relaxation therapy and hydrotherapy. This educational activity showed an increase in knowledge among the elderly in performing progressive muscle relaxation therapy and hydrotherapy to reduce hypertension.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the relationship between family support and body image disturbance among breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy at Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital, Semarang. Breast cancer and its treatment, particularly chemotherapy, often cause physical changes such as hair loss, weight fluctuations, and mastectomy, which can significantly affect patients’ body image perception. Family support is assumed to play a crucial role in helping patients adapt to these changes. This research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. A total of 110 breast cancer patients were recruited using consecutive sampling. The research instruments consisted of a family support questionnaire comprising 20 items and a body image questionnaire with 10 items. Data were analyzed using Spearman’s Rank correlation test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that most respondents (60%) received good family support, while 55% experienced negative body image. Statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between family support and body image disturbance (p = 0.004) with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.275, indicating a weak but significant correlation. These findings suggest that family support plays an important role in maintaining a positive body image among breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Therefore, nursing interventions should actively involve family members to provide both emotional and practical support, which may help patients cope with the psychological impact of treatment and improve their overall well-being.

Abstract

Nurses are healthcare workers who have a high workload because they are in direct contact with patients 24 hours a day. Complex tasks, limited manpower, and high service demands often cause work stress. Unresolved stress can affect nurses' health, reduce performance, and even impact patient safety. This study aims to investigate the relationship between stress levels and workloads among nurses at Semarang General Hospital. The study design employs a cross-sectional approach with a quantitative methodology. The study population consists of all nurses in the inpatient ward of Semarang General Hospital, with a sample size of 80 respondents selected using proportional random sampling. The research instruments used the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) questionnaire to measure stress and the NASA-TLX questionnaire to measure workload. Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman Rank test. The results of the study show that most nurses are in the moderate stress category (65%), while the highest workload is in the high category (58.8%). Bivariate analysis yielded a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05) with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.412, indicating a significant positive relationship between stress levels and nurses' workload. The higher the workload of nurses, the higher the stress levels they experience. Hospitals are encouraged to implement effective workload management, including proportional task distribution, additional staff, and stress management programs for nurses.

Abstract

Preoperative anxiety in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy is an important issue because it can affect the psychological and physiological condition, as well as the postoperative recovery process. This study aims to describe the level of anxiety in preoperative laparoscopic cholecystectomy patients at Sultan Agung Islamic Hospital (RSI) Semarang. This research used a quantitative descriptive design with a population of all preoperative laparoscopic cholecystectomy patients and a total sample of 91 respondents, selected using purposive sampling technique. Data collection was performed using a questionnaire, which was then analyzed univariately to obtain the frequency distribution of anxiety levels. The results showed that most respondents were in the elderly group (41.8%), male (79.1%), employed (75.8%), and had no medical history (72.5%). The majority of respondents experienced moderate anxiety (73.6%), followed by mild anxiety (23.1%) and severe anxiety (3.3%). These findings indicate that most patients experience moderate anxiety before the surgical procedure. These results can serve as a basis for healthcare providers to deliver psychological interventions to reduce preoperative anxiety, such as providing adequate information, emotional support, and relaxation techniques to improve patient comfort and readiness for the medical procedure.

Abstract

Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability, resulting in a decline in the quality of life of its sufferers. In addition to physical impairments, stroke patients often experience anxiety, which can hinder the recovery process and lower overall quality of life. This study aims to analyze the relationship between anxiety levels and the quality of life of stroke patients. The research design used a correlational descriptive approach with a cross-sectional method. The study population consisted of stroke patients receiving care or rehabilitation in healthcare facilities, with a total sampling technique for sampling. The research instruments included an anxiety questionnaire and a quality of life questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using Somers’ d statistical test. The results showed that most stroke patients experienced moderate anxiety and had low quality of life. The Somers’ d test indicated a significant relationship between anxiety and the quality of life of stroke patients (p < 0.05). These findings suggest that the higher the anxiety level, the lower the quality of life perceived by the patients. Therefore, healthcare providers are expected to not only focus on physical therapy but also provide psychological interventions to reduce anxiety, thus improving the quality of life of stroke patients.

Abstract

This study aims to provide an overview of comprehensive midwifery care in reducing maternal morbidity and mortality at the Paguyangan Health Center, Brebes Regency. According to WHO data in 2023, the maternal mortality rate was recorded at 4,129 per 100,000 live births, with the same rate in Indonesia and 335 per 100,000 in Central Java. In Brebes Regency, there were 54 cases of maternal death caused by various factors. This study used a case study method with a descriptive approach to analyze midwifery care during pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, newborn care, and family planning programs. The results show that Mrs. Ny. N, aged 35 and with a history of multiparity, had a pregnancy with high-risk factors. Despite this, her delivery proceeded naturally with a spontaneous birth of a female baby, who cried loudly, weighing 3110 grams, and measuring 50 cm in length. During the postpartum period, no complications were found, uterine reflexes were normal, and lochia was physiologically appropriate. The baby was healthy and received hepatitis B immunization and vitamin K1. In the family planning program, the mother chose to use a 3-month injection contraception. The conclusion of this study is that despite the high-risk factors faced by the mother, comprehensive midwifery care can help minimize risks and improve the quality of care during pregnancy and childbirth.

Abstract

An autoimmune condition that targets the joints is rheumatoid arthritis. The joints and surrounding tissues are inflamed due to this disease. Symptoms of this arthritis include joint stiffness, edema, and persistent discomfort. Women are more likely to suffer from rheumatoid arthritis than men, especially those between the ages of 40 and 75. Chronic pain is a sensory or affective experience that lasts >3 months, has mild to severe intensity, and can begin suddenly or gradually. This is related to real or functional tissue damage. To minimize the chronic pain experienced by rheumatoid arthritis patients, this case study aims to assess the effectiveness of cutaneous stimulation, also known as skin stimulation (foot massage). The nursing care method provided to patients with rheumatoid arthritis who complained of discomfort during five morning sessions using skin stimulation therapy (Foot Massage) is described in this case study using descriptive methodology. The application questionnaire was used to measure pain levels before and after the procedure, and the Rheumatoid Arthritis Pain Scale (Raps) was used to evaluate the results. After five sessions, the patient's pain level decreased, according to the case study findings. Conclusion: Discomfort is reduced by applying cutaneous stimulation (foot massage). Since foot massage helps alleviate pain, it can be used as an intervention for RA patients experiencing chronic pain.

Abstract

Preterm birth is a serious threat and a leading cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality in Indonesia. Preterm birth is caused by various factors induding hypertension, paristy, occupation, poor nutritional status, and maternal age during pregnancy. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between these faktors and preterm birth at the Pacitan community health Center. Method : The study population was all 420 mothers giving birth in 2023-2024 at the Puskesmas Pacitan, and the sample size was adjusted to the case, resulting in 74 pregnant women with 34 respondens in the case group and 34 in the control group. A retrospective cohorrt study with a case-control approschh was used. Statistical test used chi-square for bivariate test and multivariate tests with logistic regression to analyze categorial data and measure the strength of the relationship. The results of the statistical analysis are as follows: a bivariate test using chi-square analysis of factors affecting the incidence of prematurity revealed maternal age during pregnancy (p-value 0,022), occupation (p-value 0,173), parity (p-value 0,047), nutritional status (p-value 0,047), and hypertension (p-value 0,058). The results of the binary logistic regression test showed that maternal age during pregnancy, parity, and nutriitional status werw all significant (p = 0,000). A nagelkerke  R2 of 1.000 indicated that the model was able to explain 100% of the variation in the incidence of prematurity. Conclusion: there is a relationship between maternal age during pregnancy, parity, maternal nutritional, and hypertension with the incidence of prematurity. There is no relationship between occupation and the incidence of prematurity.
