Abstract

Complementary Foods for Breast Milk (MP-ASI) are additional intake given to babies aged 6–24 months to meet nutritional needs other than breast milk. Giving MP-ASI that is not in accordance with the baby's age or condition can have a negative impact on the nutritional status and digestive system of the child. This study aims to determine the relationship between maternal behavior—which includes knowledge, attitudes, and actions—and the administration of MP-ASI in infants aged 6–24 months at the Bies Health Center, Central Aceh Regency, in 2022. The design of this study was quantitative with a cross-sectional approach, involving 35 respondents who were selected purposively. The results of the univariate analysis showed that most mothers had good knowledge (45.7%), positive attitudes (74.3%), and good actions (45.7%) in giving MP-ASI. Meanwhile, the provision of MP-ASI is also mostly in the good category (48.6%). The results of bivariate analysis with the chi-square test showed a significant relationship between knowledge (p=0.007), attitude (p=0.003), and maternal actions (p=0.001) with MP-ASI. In conclusion, maternal behavior has a significant relationship with MP-ASI feeding practices. Therefore, improving nutrition education and counseling is very important to encourage optimal maternal behavior in fulfilling child nutrition.

Abstract

Pregnancy is a natural physiological process that brings various physical and emotional changes, potentially leading to anxiety, especially among first-time mothers (primigravida). The level of anxiety often varies across trimesters, with higher anxiety levels commonly occurring in the first and third trimesters. Uncontrolled anxiety may negatively affect the labor process by increasing pain perception and disrupting uterine contractions.Previous studies have shown mixed results regarding differences in anxiety levels between primigravida and multigravida mothers, as well as its influence on labor preparedness. A preliminary survey conducted at Bidan Cikmah Lubis Clinic in Tanjungbalai City revealed that most third-trimester pregnant women were not adequately prepared for childbirth, which is suspected to be linked to high anxiety levels. Therefore, this study aims to examine the relationship between maternal anxiety levels and childbirth preparedness.

Abstract

Anemia is a condition in which the body has too few red blood cells (erythrocytes) which contain hemoglobin which functions to carry oxygen to all body tissues. Signs and symptoms of anemia include fatigue, weakness, decreased capacity/ability or work productivity. Anemia in pregnancy is a condition in which the mother has Hb levels below 11 gr% in the first and second trimesters or levels <10.5 gr% in the third trimester (Proverawati, 2016). One of the biggest health problems suffered by pregnant women in the world is anemia because it is a direct cause of death. Globally, the prevalence of anemia suffered by people around the world is 2.3 billion. Around 50% of it is caused by iron deficiency anemia (World Health Organization (WHO, 2017). The type of research used in this study is analytical with a cross-sectional approach. Cross-sectional is a research approach that emphasizes the time of measurement/observation of independent and dependent variable data only once at one time. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between one variable and another. (Notoatmodjo, 2018)

Abstract

Background: Global data in 2017 showed that around 295,000 women died during and after pregnancy and childbirth. The vast majority of these deaths (94 percent) occurred in low-resource areas, and most were preventable. Sub-Saharan Africa alone accounted for around two-thirds (196,000) of maternal deaths, while South Asia accounted for almost one-fifth (58,000). four other sub-regions roughly halved their MMRs during this period: Central Asia, East Asia, Europe and North Africa. Overall, the maternal mortality ratio (MMR) in developing countries declined by just under 50 percent (WHO, 2020).Analytical research design with a cross-sectional approach. Cross-sectional is a research approach that emphasizes the time of measurement/observation of independent and dependent variable data only once at one time. This study was conducted to determine the relationship between one variable and another. (Notoatmodjo, 2018). Research Results Based on the results of data collection, the characteristics of respondents consisting of age, education, occupation and income are explained as follows. Respondents by age are mostly in the age range of 20-40 years as many as 40 people (63.2%), the rest are over 40 years old as many as 25 people (36.8%). Respondents have the most formal educational backgrounds completed, namely Senior High School (SMA) as many as 44 people (64.7%), and the least are college graduates as many as 3 people (4.4%), while Junior High School as many as 15 people (22.1%) and Elementary School as many as 6 people (8.8%). Most respondents work as farmers as many as 26 people (38.2%), the rest work as traders as many as 18 people (26.5%), employees as many as 16 people (23.5%), and others 8 as many as (11.8%). The most respondents earn per month above the UMK of Rp. 2.9 million as many as 36 people (52.9%), the rest are below the UMK of Rp. 2.9 million as many as 30 people (47.1%)  Research conclusion Based on the research results and discussion, the author concludes that there is a relationship between knowledge and husband's participation in wife's pregnancy care with a p value of 0.005 <0.05. There is a relationship between attitude and husband's participation in wife's pregnancy care.

Abstract

Anxiety often arises during pregnancy due to both physical and psychological changes that can negatively impact the health of both the mother and the fetus. These changes may include hormonal fluctuations, fear of labor, and concerns about the baby’s wellbeing. In Indonesia, approximately 28.7% of 373,000 pregnant women in their third trimester experience anxiety as they approach labor. If left untreated, anxiety during pregnancy can lead to complications such as prolonged labor, low birth weight, and postpartum depression. Therefore, early and appropriate intervention is crucial. This study aims to describe the application of Islamic mindfulness meditation therapy as a non-pharmacological intervention to reduce anxiety in pregnant women at Puskesmas Purbaratu, Tasikmalaya. Anxiety is a condition in which an individual feels uneasy, worried, or uncomfortable. Islamic mindfulness meditation therapy is a relaxation technique that integrates spiritual practices with mental focus through meditation, allowing the soul and mind to be calm, centered, and connected with God. It includes dhikr (remembrance of Allah), controlled breathing, and contemplation of positive thoughts. The method used in this study is a case study involving two primigravida pregnant clients experiencing moderate anxiety. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and measurements using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS). The results indicate that Islamic mindfulness meditation therapy significantly reduced anxiety levels from moderate to mild after five consecutive days of implementation. This was achieved through a combination of breathing exercises, spiritual reflection, and relaxation. This study concludes that Islamic mindfulness meditation can be an effective, affordable, and spiritually enriching alternative therapy to reduce anxiety in pregnant women, especially during the vulnerable third trimester. It is recommended that health workers consider incorporating this method into antenatal care programs.

Abstract

Anxiety is an emotional state characterized by feelings of discomfort, such as restlessness, worry, or fear of events that have not yet occurred. This condition is often experienced by pregnant women who are about to undergo labor, especially if confronted with an emergency cesarean section (CS). High anxiety can negatively impact the mother's physical and psychological condition, as well as affect the labor process. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of warm water foot soak therapy as a form of non-pharmacological intervention in reducing anxiety levels in pregnant women who will undergo cesarean section. This study used a case study design with a residential care approach. The study subjects consisted of two patients in the Gladiol Ward of Dr. Tjitrowardojo Purworejo Regional Hospital who experienced damage problems in the form of anxiety. The intervention provided was warm water foot soak therapy twice daily for two consecutive days. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observation, physical examinations, medical record studies, and filling out the Amsterdam Preoperative Anxiety and Information Scale (APAIS) questionnaire. The results showed that this therapy was able to reduce anxiety levels in both patients. The first patient showed a decrease from moderate anxiety (score 16) to mild anxiety (score 12), while the second patient experienced a decrease from severe anxiety (score 21) to moderate anxiety (score 17). Thus, warm foot soak therapy has been shown to be effective in reducing pre-CES anxiety and can be considered a safe and simple treatment intervention.

Abstract

Hospitalized children often experience anxiety due to the unfamiliar hospital environment, frightening medical procedures, and separation from family. This anxiety, if left untreated, can negatively impact a child's psychological well-being and hinder the healing process. One non-pharmacological intervention that can be implemented to help reduce anxiety in children is play therapy. This therapy is a fun and developmentally appropriate approach, one of which is through coloring activities. This study aims to describe the application of coloring play therapy in reducing anxiety levels in preschool-aged children undergoing hospitalization. The research design used a case study with two preschool-aged children treated in the Dahlia Ward of Dr. Tjitrowardojo Regional General Hospital, Purworejo. The anxiety measurement instrument used the FIS (Face Image Scale), which allows the assessment of children's facial expressions as an indicator of anxiety levels. The results showed that before therapy, subject I was in the mild anxiety category with an FIS score of 2, while subject II was in the moderate anxiety category with an FIS score of 4. After coloring play therapy, both children experienced a significant decrease in anxiety levels, namely becoming no longer anxious (FIS score 1). These findings indicate that play therapy, including coloring activities, is effective in reducing anxiety in hospitalized preschool children. This intervention could be an easy, affordable, and enjoyable alternative for healthcare providers in providing holistic care to children.

Abstract

Night shift workers in the modern retail sector, especially minimarkets such as Alfamart Makassar City, often face the risk of health problems due to changes in circadian rhythms, irregular diets, and lack of nutrition education. Work patterns that require them to be active at night have an impact on metabolic imbalances, sleep quality disorders, and unhealthy eating habits. Most workers tend to eat fast food that is high in calories, fat, and sugar, but low in fiber and micronutrients. This condition can increase the risk of fatigue, decreased immunity, and impaired concentration at work. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of nutritional nursing interventions in improving the diet and physical condition of night shift workers. The research approach used was descriptive with a case study method on 32 Alfamart workers who worked night shifts. The research was carried out for three days, namely on May 24-26, 2025. The interventions provided include nutrition education through brief counseling, monitoring of food and fluid intake, and assistance in developing a meal schedule that is in accordance with night work patterns. The results of the study showed a significant improvement in nutritional behavior. After the intervention, 84% of participants started implementing a healthy diet with a frequency of twice per shift, 93% increased their water consumption as recommended, and 72% felt refreshed and did not get tired easily while working. In addition, as many as 78% of participants showed high compliance with the nutritional recommendations given. These findings prove that nutritional nursing interventions have an important role in the promotion of occupational health. Proper nutrition education not only increases workers' awareness of the importance of a healthy diet, but also has an impact on increasing the productivity and welfare of night shift workers. Therefore, nutrition promotion programs should be part of the management policies of retail companies to maintain employee health.

Abstract

Hypertension is a condition in which Systolic Blood Pressure (SBP) is greater than 140 mm Hg and Diastolic Blood Pressure (DBP) is greater than 90 mm Hg. This disease is one of the most common chronic diseases and can affect anyone, both young and old. Hypertension is often called a silent killer because it has no major symptoms, so sufferers are often unaware that they have high blood pressure until serious complications occur. This study aims to determine the relationship between medication adherence and the use of complementary therapies in hypertensive patients at Mitra Medika Amplas Hospital. The research design used an analytical survey method with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study were all hypertensive patients who received treatment at the internal polyclinic of Mitra Medika Amplas Hospital, with a total population of 1,398 people. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with the Slovin formula, resulting in 94 respondents. Based on the results of the analysis using the chi-square statistical test, the P-Value was obtained at 0.685 or P-Value > 0.005, which indicates that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is rejected and the null hypothesis (Ho) is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there is no significant relationship between medication adherence and the use of complementary therapy in hypertensive patients at Mitra Medika Amplas Hospital. The conclusion of this study shows statistically that there is no relationship between medication adherence and the use of complementary therapy at Mitra Medika Amplas Hospital this year, which indicates the need for more attention in improving patient adherence to recommended treatment. The conclusion of this study statistically shows that there is no relationship of medication adherence in the use of complementary therapy at Mitra Medika Amplas Hospital.
