Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategies of religious leaders in supporting the social welfare of the community in Pulau Tanjung Village, Teluk Dalam District, Asahan Regency. This research is a field study with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving religious leaders, village officials, and the community as informants. The results of the study indicate that religious leaders have an important role as motivators, social mediators, and agents of change through social da'wah activities, religious studies, fundraising, and fostering community solidarity. However, the strategies implemented are still incidental and have not been systematically integrated due to limited resources and coordination. This study contributes to the development of sociological studies of religion by emphasizing the important role of religious leaders in strengthening social solidarity and the welfare of village communities. The findings of this study emphasize the need for a more planned and collaborative strategy to improve the social welfare of the community in a sustainable manner. This research focuses on shifting focus from conventional da'wah strategies to a multidimensional approach that integrates digital literacy and strengthening the productive economy to mitigate social inequality. While previous literature has focused more on the role of religious leaders in consumer philanthropy (providing direct aid), this research offers a novelty through an analysis of religious leaders' strategies as catalysts for community empowerment that utilize digital ecosystems for transparent access to welfare and strengthening community-based economic resilience amidst the challenges of the disruptive era.

Abstract

Background: The global economic challenges and the demand for post-pandemic community sustainability necessitate resilient, values-based economic models to counteract exploitative conventional structures. Objective: This research aims to investigate the transdisciplinary integration of Islamic economic principles and Mapalus local wisdom as a strategic model for inclusive and just community economic sustainability in Kampung Jawa Tondano, North Sulawesi. Method: Utilizing a qualitative grounded theory approach, data were meticulously collected through in-depth interviews and longitudinal observations, followed by open, axial, and selective coding to construct a theoretical framework. Results: The findings reveal a unique ethno-prophetic economic framework where Minahasan collective reciprocity (Mapalus) undergoes a spiritual transformation through Islamic ethical values. This synergy transcends basic social cohesion, creating a robust socio-economic safety net that systematically eliminates exploitative practices, such as Riba and Gharar, through localized mutual-aid mechanisms. Conclusion: The hybridization of prophetic ethics and indigenous wisdom offers a pragmatic solution for modern civilization challenges, contributing significantly to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by fostering inclusive economic growth, enhancing resilience, and reducing social inequality.

The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects consist of the principal, teachers, and students, selected using purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. The results show that the implementation of multicultural education is carried out through anti-bullying socialization using role-play methods, the use of educational videos, character building and reinforcement, as well as verbal approaches in learning. These activities foster attitudes of tolerance, empathy, and mutual respect, thereby supporting the prevention of bullying behavior. This study concludes that multicultural education integrated into learning and daily habits contributes to creating an inclusive, safe, and conducive learning environment for children’s social-emotional development

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of moral education in Imam Al-Ghazali's book Ayyuhal Walad and its relevance to contemporary Islamic education. The background of this research is the moral crisis occurring among the younger generation and the tendency of Islamic education that still emphasizes cognitive aspects over character development. This research employs a qualitative approach with library research type. The primary data source is the book Ayyuhal Walad, while secondary sources include books, journals, and related scholarly articles. Data collection techniques use documentation studies, while data analysis employs content analysis. The results show that Al-Ghazali's concept of moral education encompasses three main dimensions: morals towards Allah (worship, contemplation, gratitude, repentance, tawakkul), morals towards fellow humans (teacher-student relationships, mutual assistance, advice), and morals towards oneself (application of knowledge, time utilization, learning enthusiasm). The relevance of this concept to contemporary Islamic education is evident in five aspects: integration of knowledge and morals, sincerity and diligence in learning, the concept of tawakkul, harmonious teacher-student relationships, and development of social morals. This research contributes to the development of character education that integrates classical values with modern contexts. Abstract

This study analyzes the tradition of the youngest child's obligation to reside with parents after marriage in Javanese society, specifically in Kalirejo Village, Pesawaran Regency, employing the perspectives of Maqāṣid al-sharī'ah and living law. Employing a qualitative case study approach, this research collected data through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that this tradition persists due to interconnected factors of family responsibility, economic considerations, inherited cultural values, and social pressure. From Eugen Ehrlich's perspective of living law, this tradition constitutes living law as it originates from social needs, is practiced collectively, and possesses strong social legitimacy, despite being dynamic and undergoing shifts. The Maqāṣid al-sharī'ah analysis utilizing Jasser Auda's systems approach demonstrates that the tradition contains benefits (maṣlaḥah) in preserving life (hifẓ al-nafs), lineage (hifẓ al-nasl), and realizing filial piety (birrul walidain). However, it also harbors potential for harm (mafsadah) in the form of unequal distribution of responsibilities and domestic conflict. The synthesis of both perspectives indicates that this tradition remains relevant provided it is reconstructed flexibly, justly, and based on family deliberation to achieve a balance between cultural values and Sharia principles.

Abstract

This study examines the position of women in the Minangkabau customary high inheritance system and the Islamic legal values reflected in its practice in Sidomukti Village, Tulang Bawang, using the Mubadalah perspective. The research employs a qualitative method with a case study approach, collecting data through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that normatively, women hold a strong position as the primary owners of high ancestral property within the matrilineal system. However, a gap exists between formal ownership and actual control, where men (mamak) dominate the management and decision-making processes. Inheritance practices reflect the values of justice (through deliberation), public interest (maslahah, based on needs), and responsibility (management by mamak), but the value of balance (tawazun) has not been fully achieved. The Mubadalah perspective recommends a relational reconstruction towards equal partnership, where women are not merely symbolic owners but active subjects. This study concludes that collective awareness is needed to achieve substantive and relational justice in Minangkabau customary inheritance practices.

Abstract

The premarital akken tradition is a customary practice consistently maintained by the Lampung Pepadun community, particularly in Blambangan Village, North Lampung. This tradition serves as a mechanism for customary legitimation and social integration for cross-ethnic couples before the wedding contract. This study aims to examine the implementation, symbolic meanings, socio-cultural functions, and Islamic legal perspective on the akken tradition. A qualitative case study approach was employed. Data collection was conducted through observation, in-depth interviews with traditional leaders, religious figures, and community members, and documentation. The findings reveal that akken is performed through stages of customary consultation, deliberation, appointment of adoptive parents, and symbolic procession. This tradition embodies values of kinship, deliberation, respect for customs, and social responsibility. From the perspective of Islamic law, akken can be classified as 'urf shahih (valid custom) as it does not contradict scriptural texts and actually supports maqāṣid al-syarī'ah in preserving lineage and honor. This study concludes that akken represents a harmonious and adaptive integration of custom and sharia. Its main contribution is strengthening the theoretical framework of 'urf in the context of cross-cultural marriage in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study examines the reconstruction of husband-wife sexual relations in Shafi'i jurisprudence from the perspectives of maqāṣid al-usrah (family objectives) and maslahah (public interest), and analyzes its relevance to Article 8 of Law No. 23 of 2004 on the Elimination of Domestic Violence. Shafi'i jurisprudence constructs the legitimacy of sexual relations upon the marriage contract (akad), which gives rise to the right of istimtā' and the obligation of tamkīn, bounded by the principles of mu'āsharah bi al-ma'rūf, the prohibition of ḍarar, and recognition of legitimate 'udzur. Through the lens of maqāṣid al-usrah and maslahah, this study finds that the fundamental objectives of marriage are to realize sakinah, mawaddah, rahmah, as well as the protection of life, honor, and lineage. Article 8 of the Domestic Violence Law, which prohibits coercive sexual relations within the household, has substantive relevance to maqāṣid al-usrah as it aims to protect wives from ḍarar that damages family maslahah. However, there is a conceptual tension at the epistemological level: Shafi'i jurisprudence departs from akad and relational obligations, while positive law departs from consent and individual protection. This doctrinal legal research recommends a reconstruction of sexual relations based on maqāṣid al-usrah that clearly distinguishes between destructive sexual violence and relational conflicts in fulfilling obligations, and offers a proportional and contextual layered protection model.

Abstract

The presence of children in a family has a strategic function as a continuation of lineage, heir to traditions, and outpouring of affection. However, not all couples are blessed with children. The absence of children has the potential to create dynamics of disharmony that threaten household resilience. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing disharmony in childless families, its implications for household resilience, and solutions based on maqashid sharia. The research employs a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach in Ketapang Village, North Lampung. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with three couples who have been married for more than eight years without children, participant observation, and documentation. The findings indicate that internal factors (weak religious foundation, lack of role models, and non-comprehensive application of Islamic values) and external factors (social pressure and lack of family support) contribute to disharmony. Negative impacts include infidelity, chronic quarrels, and divorce. Maqashid sharia-based solutions include the protection of religion (hifz al-din), life (hifz al-nafs), intellect (hifz al-aql), lineage (hifz al-nasl), and property (hifz al-mal). This research confirms that family harmony without children can be achieved through strengthening spirituality, effective communication, and constructive social support.

Abstract

The phenomenon of gamophobia or fear of marriage is increasingly concerning among Generation Z, including in rural areas. This study aims to analyze the psychological, social, and economic factors influencing gamophobia in Generation Z and its relevance to Islamic Family Law. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with field research type in Sukajadi Village, Bumi Ratu Nuban, Central Lampung. Data collection techniques included non-participatory observation, in-depth interviews with 10 informants (village head, religious leaders, community leaders, parents, and Generation Z), and documentation. Data analysis used data reduction, data display, and conclusion verification. The results showed that gamophobia in Generation Z was at mild to moderate levels, characterized by anxiety when discussing marriage, overthinking, and low self-confidence. Dominant psychological factors included family trauma and fear of failure; social factors included social media influence and individualistic lifestyle; economic factors included job instability and high wedding costs. From the Islamic Family Law perspective, gamophobia is relevant as a form of caution but contradicts Islamic principles if excessive to the point of avoiding marriage without valid sharia reasons. This study recommends an integrated premarital guidance program.
