Abstract

Students' interest in learning is something that is important in the smooth teaching and learning process. Students who have high interest in learning in the learning process can support the teaching and learning process to improve, and vice versa, if students have low interest in learning, the quality of learning will decrease and this will affect learning outcomes. Slameto (1995: 57) explains that interest is "a high inclination towards something". Interest is a characteristic that persists in a person. Interest is a persistent interest or tendency to pay attention to or be involved in something because you realize the importance or value of that thing. Learning models have a very important role because learning models are a means of conveying lesson material. Without the right model, a learning process will not take place effectively and efficiently. This learning model must be able to involve all students to play an active role in the learning process, be able to develop students' ability to think critically so that the learning process becomes more interesting and enjoyable while also being able to foster students' interest in learning so that student learning achievement is expected to increase. In reality, realizing an active and enjoyable learning process as stated above is not easy. The same thing happens when studying Catholicism. Learning Catholic Religion feels uninteresting because there are several factors in the teaching and learning process, including facilities and infrastructure, learning models, and a learning environment that is less effective and enjoyable because there is no room for religious lessons, so the activity process is disrupted because they have to move around appropriately. , other supporting facilities such as internet networks and electricity networks are not available, so learning is not centered on students but more on teachers lecturing, so students' interest in learning decreases. Ideally, a learning process requires appropriate strategies, especially in learning Catholicism, which has been designed. Thus, learning must be able to provide provisions for students to have good character, develop faith, think critically and be creative. To provide provisions for students, Catholic Religion learning is needed that is innovative, interesting and fun for students so that Catholic Religion subjects are no longer considered boring subjects which will impact students' low interest in learning Catholic Religion lessons. Based on the existing problem formulation, the aim to be achieved in this research is that the use and implementation of the problem based learning model can increase students' interest in learning in class VII Catholic Religious Lessons, the material My Capabilities Are Limited at SMP Negeri 1 Sanaman Mantikei. The type of research used in this research is descriptive qualitative research. This research is classroom action research carried out in two cycles offline. The use of the Problem Based Learning Model that matches the syntax in learning Catholic Religious Education in class VII of SMP Negeri 1 Sanaman Mantikei is very effective in increasing students' interest in learning. Increased student learning can be seen in initial conditions where student interest in learning is low, then interest in learning increases after being given action.

Abstract

Researchers found that SDN 04 Ngarak students had poor literacy and numeracy skills. Students with conditions like this tend not to be motivated to learn, therefore researchers apply one of the learning models, namely Problem-based learning. This research was conducted to (1) improve mutual cooperation through the PBL model in grade II A SDN 04 Ngarak students, (2) improve learning outcomes through the PBL model in grade II A SDN 04 Ngarak students, (3) improve learning completeness through the PBL model in grade II A SDN 04 Ngarak students. This study is a classroom action research consisting of four steps that must be carried out in each cycle. The four steps are (1) planning; (2) implementation; (3) observations; (4) reflection. The subjects of this study were 21 students. Data collection techniques in this study used tests, observation and documentation. Data analysis techniques use descriptive analysis and are explained with graphs and tables. The result of this study is that in cycle I, cognitive test results showed 29% proficient, 14% proficient, 43% viable, and 14% newly developed. The target teachers are 50% proficient, 45% proficient, 5% feasible, and 0% newly developed. In cycle II, there was a significant increase with 71% of participants in the advanced category and 29% proficient. This result exceeds the target of cycle II, which is 70% proficient and 30% proficient. Feasible and newly developed to reach 0%, in accordance with the target. With PBL, there is an improvement in learner learning outcomes, validating the effectiveness of the model in achieving learning objectives.

Abstract

The aim of this classroom action research was to increase student interest and learning outcomes in PAK lessons on Competencies in the Role of Hierarchy and Laity as Church Members for class XI Phase F students of SMAN 1 Sipora Semester I for the 2023/2024 academic year. To achieve this goal, researchers used a problem based learning (PBL) learning model designed in two cycles. In each cycle two meetings are held. The procedures in each cycle include the stages: 1) planning, 2) implementing actions, 3) observation, and 4) reflection and evaluation. The effectiveness of actions in each cycle is measured from the results of observations and tests. In this study, the researcher stated that observations of students' interest in learning were seen and measured from the level of independence and faith and devotion to TYME and noble character in the dimensions of the Pancasila Student profile (P3). The observation data is described, interpreted, then reflected on to determine corrective action in the next cycle. The results of the action research carried out in two cycles were that students' learning interest in cycle I reached 76.5%, while in cycle II students' learning interest reached 89.5%. Comparison of the results of increasing student interest in learning in cycle I and cycle II increased by 13%. Likewise, student learning outcomes also increased with the results in cycle I reaching 77.6% and in cycle II reaching 87%. This shows an increase in student learning outcomes by 8%. Thus, based on the results obtained, it shows that there has been an increase in student interest and learning outcomes and they have achieved completion. So it can be concluded that the use of the problem based learning method can increase PAK interest and learning outcomes in the competency of the Role of Hierarchy and Laity as Church Members for class XI Phase F students of SMAN 1 Sipora Semester I for the 2023/2024 academic year. Increasing student interest in learning has a positive impact on increasing student learning outcomes.

Abstract

This article is a literature review which aims to provide a study of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model to improve critical thinking skills. In this article we will discuss the PBL learning model and critical thinking skills as well as the relationship between PBL and critical thinking skills. PBL is learning obtained through a process towards understanding the resolution of a problem, through PBL students gain experience in dealing with realistic problems, and emphasizes the use of communication, cooperation and existing resources to formulate ideas and develop reasoning skills. Critical thinking skills can be interpreted as high-level thinking skills, which are a deliberate and conscious process of interpreting and evaluating information from existing experiences, beliefs and abilities with the aim of testing an opinion or idea, including making considerations or thoughts based on the opinions put forward. Ennis in Costa (1985) developed indicators of critical thinking skills, consisting of: (1) Elementary clarification (providing a simple explanation), (2) Basic support (building basic skills), (3) Inference (concluding), (4) Advances clarification (making further explanations), and (5) Strategies and tactics (strategy and tactics). Critical thinking skills can be improved through PBL because the learning approach is based on authentic problems, and students are not only asked to understand a problem but also have to be able to work together to solve the problem, so that it can stimulate students' abilities and skills, especially critical thinking skills.
