Abstract

This study discusses the practice of gold pawn in Islamic Pawnshops from the perspective of Islamic economics, focusing on the validity of the contract and the determination of ujrah (storage fees). The gold pawn product in Islamic Pawnshops involves three contracts: qardh (loan), rahn (collateral), and ijarah (storage fees). The combination of these contracts is often debated, as it is considered a hybrid contract prohibited under certain standards, such as AAOIFI. The research findings indicate that these contracts are carried out separately and in accordance with Sharia principles, making them valid. The determination of ujrah, according to the Fatwa of DSN-MUI, should be based on storage costs, not the loan amount. However, in practice, ujrah is often calculated based on the loan value, which could lead to unfairness. The results of this study show that the gold pawn practice in Islamic Pawnshops generally complies with Sharia principles, although improvements in transparency and the determination of ujrah fees are necessary. Recommendations are provided to enhance education and refine the contract mechanism to better align with Sharia.

Abstract

This article discusses the complexity of the challenges faced by Islamic economics in the evolving context of globalization. Using a qualitative research method based on a literature review, this article identifies and analyzes various factors that influence the application of the concept of falah, which means prosperity and success in the Islamic economic system. In the era of globalization, Islamic economics must face several major challenges, including; facing difficulties in integrating Islamic values with global economic practices that tend to be capitalist, the need to create competitive products and services in accordance with sharia principles, the need for a regulatory framework that supports the development of Islamic economics in order to compete in the global market, increasing public understanding of the principles of Islamic economics and its benefits. This article concludes that to overcome these challenges, a collaborative strategy is needed between the government, Islamic financial institutions, academics and the community. With an integrated approach, Islamic economics can capitalize on opportunities in a dynamic global economic system and has the potential to become a sustainable and inclusive alternative.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the level of public awareness Indonesian people regarding the importance of sharia insurance. Even though there is an increase in public interest in sharia insurance, with data showing a about 39% increase in comprehension between 2016 and 2020, the level of awareness is still relatively low. This results from a failure to comprehend the basic principles of sharia insurance, lack of access to effective education and outreach, and distrust of sharia financial institutions. This research found that the millennial generation shows greater interest in sharia insurance, However, many people still do not know the distinction between conventional and sharia law insurance. Therefore, more intensive efforts are needed to increase sharia financial literacy and inclusion through comprehensive education programs. This research recommends stakeholders to develop more effective strategies in increasing sharia insurance penetration and building public awareness about the importance of insurance in everyday life. Thus, increasing public awareness and understanding of sharia insurance is expected to expand sharia financial inclusion and provide broader benefits for society and the Indonesian economy.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the elements that contribute to the Indonesian population's poor insurance knowledge. Even though insurance plays a significant role in offering financial security, public involvement is still minimal. This study highlights a number of important elements, such as a strong sense of communal solidarity, limitations in commercial communication, and inadequate financial literacy. People often rely on unofficial social assistance, which makes them believe that insurance is not necessary. Misunderstandings about the advantages of insurance are also a result of insurance firms' poor marketing strategies and lack of socialization. Data was gathered from a variety of pertinent literature sources using a literature review and qualitative analysis process. The results show that more successful teaching approaches that are appropriate for the local cultural context are required to improve public awareness and involvement in insurance. It is anticipated that this research will aid in the creation of programs and policies that will raise insurance literacy in Indonesia.

Firms big and small that can weather the economic storm will be able to hire more people and put more people out of poverty. Lacking proper asset segregation, small and medium-sized firms in Medan's Kampung Baru, Maimun District, tend to skimp on accounting. One goal of PKM in basic accounting courses for SMBs is to teach students how to perform accounting in a way that is both methodical and crucial for measuring revenue, expenses, and profits. to keep up with the company's progress. In the Medan Maimun District of Kampung Baru Village, there are three steps to carrying out community service: conducting interviews and field observations, training, and mentoring and monitoring. Increased work motivation is one possible outcome of this activity's success in expanding participants' understanding of basic accounting and bookkeeping principles and practices.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct a narrative review of the Sharia insurance product innovation literature, focusing on market trends and consumer preferences. This study is intended to provide a comprehensive understanding of the current developments in the Sharia insurance industry and identify opportunities for future product innovation. This literature review uses a narrative literature review method, conducted using academic databases from leading books and articles such as Scopus, Google Scholar and Web of Science. Searches using the keywords “product innovation,” “sharia insurance or takaful,” “market trends,” and “consumer preferences” resulted in a selection of relevant articles, which were then analyzed and categorized based on the main themes of sharia insurance market trends, consumer preferences, and product innovation. The review period covers publications from 2015 to 2024 to capture the current dynamics in the industry. The review results show a significant increase in interest in sharia insurance, especially after the global financial crisis. Market trends show a steady growth in adopting Sharia insurance across countries, with increasing consumer preference for products under Islamic principles. Product innovation has evolved from traditional models such as Mudarabah and Wakalah to more sophisticated approaches, including hybrid and Waqf-based products. The study also reveals the need for more diverse products tailored to the specific needs of local markets. The review highlights the need for further research on innovative Takaful product development. Sharia Insurance companies need to focus on better understanding consumer preferences and developing products that comply with Shariah principles and offer competitive added value. In addition, there is a need to explore the integration of digital technologies in the development and distribution of Takaful products. The study provides a comprehensive view of the current landscape of product innovation in the Takaful industry, emphasising market trends and consumer preferences. The review not only fills the gap in the existing literature but also provides a foundation for future research in this emerging field.

Abstract

Coffee shops have grown rapidly as part of a modern lifestyle, particularly in Tasikmalaya City, which is known as a city of Islamic boarding schools with a majority Muslim population and high religiosity. However, there are still many coffee shops in the city that have not been registered for halal certification, leading to confusion among Muslim consumers regarding what is permissible to consume according to sharia law. The study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. Data were collected through questionnaires, which were distributed both online and directly to Muslim generation Z coffee shop consumers in Tasikmalaya City, with a total of 131 respondents. The sampling method used was purposive sampling. Data analysis was conducted using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique with the help of SmartPLS 4 software. The results of the study indicate that halal brand awareness, viral marketing, and service quality have a positive and significant effect on the brand image of coffee shops in Tasikmalaya City.
