Abstract

The practice of unregistered Islamic marriage (nikah sirri) among university students continues to pose serious legal and gender-based challenges in contemporary Indonesia, particularly within Islamic higher education contexts. Drawing on gender analysis theory and Islamic family law frameworks, this study investigates students’ perceptions, motivations, and consequences of sirri marriage at STAIN Jember. The research aims to identify students’ attitudes toward sirri marriage, describe their motivations for entering such unions, and analyze responses to marital failure. Using a descriptive qualitative survey design with purposive sampling, data were collected from 89 students across three faculties through questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Findings reveal that the majority of male students support sirri marriage, citing reasons such as reducing sin, cohabiting with partners, and financial unpreparedness, while female students report significantly higher perceived disadvantage. Most female respondents feel harmed by sirri marriage failure, yet most male students do not recognize this harm. Both genders largely agree on the necessity of registering sirri marriages with the Religious Affairs Office. The study concludes that gender awareness remains critically low among male students. Recommendations include integrating pre-marital education, family law literacy, and gender equality training into university curricula. Praktik pernikahan sirri di kalangan mahasiswa terus menimbulkan tantangan hukum dan gender yang serius di Indonesia kontemporer, khususnya di lingkungan perguruan tinggi Islam. Berdasarkan teori analisis gender dan hukum keluarga Islam, penelitian ini mengkaji persepsi, motivasi, dan konsekuensi pernikahan sirri di kalangan mahasiswa STAIN Jember. Penelitian bertujuan mengidentifikasi sikap mahasiswa terhadap pernikahan sirri, mendeskripsikan motivasi mereka, serta menganalisis tanggapan terhadap kegagalan pernikahan. Menggunakan desain survei kualitatif deskriptif dengan purposive sampling, data dikumpulkan dari 89 mahasiswa melalui angket, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil menunjukkan mayoritas mahasiswa laki-laki mendukung pernikahan sirri dengan alasan mengurangi dosa, tinggal serumah dengan pasangan, dan ketidaksiapan finansial, sementara mahasiswi menyatakan tingkat kerugian yang jauh lebih tinggi. Sebagian besar responden perempuan merasa dirugikan oleh kegagalan pernikahan sirri, namun mayoritas laki-laki tidak mengakui kerugian tersebut. Kedua jenis kelamin umumnya sepakat perlunya mencatatkan pernikahan sirri ke KUA. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa kesadaran gender di kalangan mahasiswa laki-laki masih sangat rendah. Rekomendasi mencakup integrasi pendidikan pranikah, literasi hukum keluarga, dan pelatihan kesetaraan gender ke dalam kurikulum universitas.

Abstract

The rapid development of science and technology has posed significant challenges for religious life, necessitating innovative, dialogical approaches to Islamic da’wah that can serve as a moral filter. This study addresses the gap in understanding how interactive radio programs function as effective media for religious communication. The research aimed to measure the effectiveness of dialogical da’wah through Prosalina FM in improving religious understanding among the people of Jember. A quantitative correlational approach was employed, involving 44 respondents selected through accidental sampling from listeners who actively participated in the Diaparis (Dialog Pakar Islam) program. Data were collected using questionnaires, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Chi-square formula and Contingency Coefficient (KK). The results showed a Chi-square value of 9.57, which is higher than the table value of 3.84 at a 5% significance level, indicating a significant effect. The KK value of 0.42 falls within the range of 0.40–0.70, signifying a moderately meaningful level of effectiveness. The study concludes that dialogical da’wah via radio is significantly effective in enhancing religious understanding. It is recommended that such programs be maintained, expanded in broadcast frequency, and adapted to address increasingly complex religious needs. Perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi yang pesat telah menimbulkan tantangan signifikan bagi kehidupan beragama, sehingga diperlukan pendekatan dakwah Islam yang inovatif dan dialogis yang mampu menjadi filter moral. Penelitian ini menjawab kesenjangan pemahaman mengenai bagaimana program radio interaktif berfungsi sebagai media komunikasi keagamaan yang efektif. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengukur efektivitas dakwah dialogis melalui Prosalina FM terhadap peningkatan pemahaman agama masyarakat Jember. Pendekatan kuantitatif korelasional digunakan dengan melibatkan 44 responden yang dipilih secara accidental sampling dari pendengar aktif program Diaparis (Dialog Pakar Islam). Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan rumus Chi-kuadrat dan Koefisien Kontingensi (KK). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai Chi-kuadrat sebesar 9,57, lebih tinggi dari nilai tabel 3,84 pada taraf signifikansi 5%, yang berarti signifikan. Nilai KK sebesar 0,42 berada pada rentang 0,40–0,70, menandakan tingkat efektivitas yang cukup berarti. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa dakwah dialogis melalui radio efektif secara signifikan dalam meningkatkan pemahaman agama. Disarankan agar program semacam ini dipertahankan, diperluas frekuensi siarannya, dan disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan keagamaan masyarakat yang semakin kompleks.

Abstract

The critical issue addressed in this study is how differing social structures—industrial versus non-industrial—shape children’s learning behavior during their developmental years. Grounded in ecological and socio-psychological theories, this research assumes that environmental conditions, social norms, and economic activities significantly influence behavioral patterns. The study aims to compare learning behaviors between children raised in an industrial setting (Cilegon) and those in a non-industrial setting (Serang). Using a cross-sectional survey with systematic observation, data were collected from 201 adolescents aged 13–16 years attending accredited public or local schools. Statistical analysis using contingency tests revealed that children in the industrial society demonstrated stronger tendencies toward competitive, materialistic, and goal-oriented behaviors, along with more developed defense mechanisms to cope with environmental pressure. In contrast, children in the non-industrial society exhibited more intuitive, cooperative, and tradition-bound learning patterns, with greater openness to feedback from failure. The study concludes that industrial environments foster achievement-driven behavior and psychological defense strategies, while non-industrial settings encourage realism and reflective learning. Recommendations include integrating socio-emotional learning tailored to local ecological contexts and conducting further cross-cultural longitudinal research. Isu krusial yang diangkat dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana perbedaan struktur sosial masyarakat industri dan non-industri membentuk perilaku belajar anak selama masa perkembangan. Berlandaskan teori ekologis dan sosio-psikologis, penelitian ini berasumsi bahwa kondisi lingkungan, norma sosial, dan aktivitas ekonomi sangat memengaruhi pola perilaku. Tujuan penelitian adalah membandingkan perilaku belajar antara anak yang dibesarkan di lingkungan industri (Cilegon) dan non-industri (Serang). Metode yang digunakan adalah survei cross-sectional dengan observasi sistematis terhadap 201 remaja usia 13–16 tahun yang bersekolah di sekolah negeri atau swasta terakreditasi. Hasil analisis statistik menunjukkan bahwa anak di masyarakat industri cenderung lebih kompetitif, materialistis, dan berorientasi pada pencapaian, serta mengembangkan mekanisme pertahanan diri terhadap tekanan lingkungan. Sebaliknya, anak di masyarakat non-industri menunjukkan pola belajar yang lebih intuitif, kooperatif, dan terikat tradisi, serta lebih terbuka terhadap umpan balik dari kegagalan. Kesimpulannya, lingkungan industri mendorong perilaku berbasis pencapaian dan strategi defensif, sementara lingkungan non-industri mendukung realisme dan pembelajaran reflektif. Rekomendasi penelitian ini adalah perlunya integrasi pembelajaran sosial-emosional berbasis konteks ekologis lokal serta studi longitudinal lintas budaya lebih lanjut.

Abstract

The 1997 economic crisis exacerbated the vulnerability of street children in Indonesia, leading to their disempowerment in accessing education and economic opportunities. This qualitative study used a phenomenological approach and a case study design to describe the profile of street children, patterns of educational and economic empowerment, their responses to a drop-in center, and the constraints faced by Yayasan Paramitra in Malang City. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, then analyzed using data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. Key findings reveal that most street children come from poor families, work on the streets due to economic pressures, and face threats from security officers and thugs. Empowerment was implemented through community-based, street-based, and center-based approaches, yet it was constrained by children’s lack of seriousness, inadequate shelter facilities, and the absence of sustainable work partnerships. In conclusion, the drop-in center model is participatively effective but requires cross-sectoral support. Recommendations include allocating social funds, actively engaging parents and communities, and developing standardized participatory guidelines for program sustainability. Krisis ekonomi 1997 memperparah kerentanan anak jalanan di Indonesia, menciptakan ketidakberdayaan dalam akses pendidikan dan ekonomi. Penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi dan strategi studi kasus ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan profil anak jalanan, pola pemberdayaan pendidikan dan ekonomi, respons mereka terhadap rumah singgah, serta kendala yang dihadapi Yayasan Paramitra di Kota Malang. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam, dan studi dokumentasi, lalu dianalisis dengan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Temuan utama menunjukkan bahwa anak jalanan umumnya berasal dari keluarga miskin, bekerja di jalanan karena tekanan ekonomi, serta menghadapi ancaman dari aparat keamanan dan preman. Pemberdayaan dilakukan melalui pendekatan berbasis masyarakat, jalanan, dan panti, namun terkendala oleh ketidakseriusan anak, kurangnya fasilitas rumah singgah, dan belum adanya mitra kerja berkelanjutan. Kesimpulannya, model rumah singgah efektif secara partisipatif tetapi membutuhkan dukungan lintas sektor. Rekomendasi mencakup perlunya alokasi dana sosial, pelibatan aktif orang tua dan masyarakat, serta penyusunan pedoman baku partisipatoris untuk keberlanjutan program.

Abstract

Women’s direct involvement in battle remains a rare and debated phenomenon across both classical and modern societies. Within Islamic tradition, the prophetic era offers historical precedents that warrant critical examination through the science of hadith. This study evaluates the authenticity of narrations about Umm ‘Athiyyah, a female companion who reportedly participated in seven military expeditions alongside Prophet Muhammad. Using takhrij al-hadith and sanad criticism methods across four primary sources—Sahih Muslim, Sunan Ibn Majah, Musnad Ahmad, and Sunan al-Darimi—this research traces all chains of transmission and assesses each narrator’s credibility. The findings confirm that all sanad chains are connected (muttasil), all narrators meet the criteria of tsiqah (trustworthy), and the transmission occurs through mu’asharah (contemporaneity), establishing the hadith as sahih (authentic). The study concludes that Islam permits women’s participation in supporting combat roles, including medical care and logistics, while distinguishing such roles from direct frontline fighting. Recommendations include revisiting classical jurisprudence on women’s wartime rights and further contextualizing prophetic traditions for contemporary defense policies. Keterlibatan langsung perempuan dalam peperangan merupakan fenomena yang langka dan diperdebatkan, baik dalam masyarakat klasik maupun modern. Dalam tradisi Islam, era kenabian menyediakan preseden historis yang memerlukan kajian kritis melalui ilmu hadits. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi otentisitas periwayatan tentang Umm ‘Athiyyah, sahabat perempuan yang dilaporkan terlibat dalam tujuh peperangan bersama Rasulullah. Menggunakan metode takhrij al-hadits dan kritik sanad pada empat sumber primer—Shahih Muslim, Sunan Ibn Majah, Musnad Ahmad, dan Sunan al-Darimi—penelitian ini menelusuri seluruh rantai periwayatan dan menilai kredibilitas setiap perawi. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa seluruh sanad bersambung (muttasil), semua perawi memenuhi kriteria tsiqah (terpercaya), dan terjadi kesegenerasian (mu’asharah), sehingga hadits berstatus sahih. Kesimpulannya, Islam mengizinkan perempuan berperan serta dalam peperangan pada posisi pendukung, seperti perawatan medis dan logistik, namun membedakannya dari pertempuran garis depan. Rekomendasi penelitian mencakup peninjauan kembali fikih klasik tentang hak-hak perempuan di medan perang serta kontekstualisasi lebih lanjut tradisi kenabian untuk kebijakan pertahanan kontemporer.

Abstract

Parental influence on children’s educational decisions often prioritizes academic excellence over democratic choice, potentially undermining children’s learning autonomy. This study examines the underexplored relationship between parenting motivation styles and children’s preferences for general versus vocational schools. Using a quantitative descriptive approach, data were collected from 110 parents working at the Department of Religious Affairs in Jember through questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Chi-square and contingency coefficient analyses revealed significant associations between motivation styles and school choice. Children of authoritarian parents tended to prefer vocational schools, whereas those with democratic or permissive parents leaned toward general schools. The strength of the relationship was moderate to strong (KK between 0.42 and 0.50). The study concludes that democratic motivation fosters alignment with children’s interests, whereas authoritarian styles limit choice. Recommendations include structured parental guidance on motivation strategies and improved awareness of children’s aptitudes and family financial realities to support optimal educational decisions. Pengaruh orang tua terhadap keputusan pendidikan anak sering mengutamakan prestasi akademik daripada pilihan demokratis, yang berpotensi mengurangi otonomi belajar anak. Penelitian ini mengkaji hubungan antara gaya motivasi orang tua dan preferensi anak terhadap sekolah umum versus kejuruan. Dengan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif, data dikumpulkan dari 110 orang tua pegawai Departemen Agama di Jember melalui angket, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Analisis Chi-kuadrat dan koefisien kontingensi menunjukkan adanya hubungan signifikan antara gaya motivasi dan pilihan sekolah. Anak dari orang tua otoriter cenderung memilih sekolah kejuruan, sementara anak dari orang tua demokratis atau permisif cenderung memilih sekolah umum. Kekuatan hubungan tergolong cukup kuat (KK antara 0,42 dan 0,50). Kesimpulannya, motivasi demokratis mendukung kesesuaian dengan minat anak, sedangkan gaya otoriter membatasi pilihan. Rekomendasi mencakup bimbingan terencana tentang strategi motivasi serta peningkatan kesadaran akan bakat anak dan kemampuan finansial keluarga.

Abstract

The implementation of Presidential Decree No. 11 of 1997, which transformed IAIN branch faculties into independent STAINs, was a strategic government response to the inefficiency, ineffectiveness, and poor quality of Islamic higher education, previously hindered by lengthy bureaucracy and rampant corruption, collusion, and nepotism. Framed within policy implementation theory and human resource management, this study aimed to analyze the relationship between the implementation of the decree and lecturers’ work morale. A descriptive, qualitative approach with a multiple-case study strategy was employed across STAIN Pamekasan, Jember, and Malang, with all permanent lecturers as the population. The findings indicate that the implementation was relatively effective, as evidenced by organizational restructuring, program development, and increased institutional autonomy. Lecturers’ work morale was generally good, with 72.22% (Pamekasan), 58.62% (Jember), and 66.66% (Malang) falling into the good category. The study concludes that a positive relationship exists between the decree’s implementation and lecturers’ work morale and recommends focused attention on low-morale lecturers, systematic human resource development planning, and structured policy socialization. Implementasi Keputusan Presiden Nomor 11 Tahun 1997 tentang alih bentuk fakultas cabang IAIN menjadi STAIN merupakan respons strategis pemerintah terhadap lemahnya efisiensi, efektivitas, dan kualitas pendidikan tinggi agama Islam yang sebelumnya terhambat birokrasi panjang serta praktik korupsi, kolusi, dan nepotisme. Dalam kerangka teori implementasi kebijakan dan manajemen sumber daya manusia, penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis hubungan antara implementasi Keppres tersebut dengan semangat kerja dosen. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan strategi studi kasus ganda pada STAIN Pamekasan, Jember, dan Malang. Seluruh dosen tetap di ketiga institusi dijadikan populasi penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi Keppres relatif efektif, tercermin dalam restrukturisasi organisasi, pengembangan program, dan peningkatan otonomi kelembagaan. Semangat kerja dosen secara umum berada dalam kategori baik, dengan rincian STAIN Pamekasan (72,22% baik), STAIN Jember (58,62% baik), dan STAIN Malang (66,66% baik). Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan positif antara implementasi Keppres dan semangat kerja dosen, serta merekomendasikan perhatian khusus terhadap dosen dengan semangat kerja rendah, perencanaan pengembangan sumber daya dosen yang sistematis, dan sosialisasi kebijakan yang terencana.

In the context of Indonesian higher education transformation, lecturer performance remains a critical yet often underutilized factor in achieving institutional excellence. Grounded in motivation and compensation theory, this study investigates the direct and indirect effects of financial and non-financial compensation on intrinsic motivation and lecturer performance. The research employed an explanatory quantitative method with path analysis, using all permanent lecturers at STAIN Jember as the census sample. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that non-financial compensation significantly influences intrinsic motivation (beta = 0.618), whereas financial compensation shows no significant effect on either intrinsic motivation (beta = -0.143) or lecturer performance (beta = -0.058). Moreover, intrinsic motivation itself does not significantly mediate the relationship between compensation and performance. The study concludes that non-financial factors such as promotion fairness, training opportunities, work facilities, and a supportive atmosphere are more pivotal in fostering lecturer motivation. It is recommended that STAIN Jember prioritize improving non-financial compensation to enhance intrinsic motivation, though further research is needed to identify other determinants of lecturer performance. Dalam konteks transformasi pendidikan tinggi di Indonesia, kinerja dosen masih menjadi elemen kritis yang kerap belum optimal dalam mendukung keunggulan institusi. Berlandaskan teori motivasi dan kompensasi, penelitian ini menguji pengaruh langsung dan tidak langsung kompensasi finansial dan nonfinansial terhadap motivasi intrinsik serta kinerja dosen. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif eksplanatori dengan analisis jalur, melibatkan seluruh dosen tetap STAIN Jember sebagai sensus. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa kompensasi nonfinansial berpengaruh signifikan terhadap motivasi intrinsik (beta 0,618), sementara kompensasi finansial tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap motivasi intrinsik (beta -0,143) maupun kinerja dosen (beta -0,058). Motivasi intrinsik juga tidak memediasi hubungan antara kompensasi dan kinerja secara signifikan. Kesimpulannya, faktor nonfinansial seperti keadilan promosi, pelatihan, fasilitas kerja, dan suasana kerja yang kondusif lebih berperan dalam meningkatkan motivasi dosen. Disarankan agar STAIN Jember memprioritaskan peningkatan kompensasi nonfinansial untuk memperkuat motivasi intrinsik, meskipun penelitian lanjutan diperlukan untuk mengidentifikasi determinan lain kinerja dosen.
