Abstract

Student demonstrations at STAIN Jember increasingly exhibit anarchic and excessive tendencies, deviating from intellectual, sensitive, and moral frameworks. Guided by Spearman and Burt’s behavioral theories and Freud’s psychoanalytic perspective, this study addresses the need to develop skilled management strategies for student organizations, examines whether protests reflect intellectual parameters or emotional impulses, and explores integrating skilled management with organizational behavior. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through comprehensive interviews, participant observation, and documentation, employing snowball sampling and grounded theory analysis. Findings reveal that student organizations lack skilled management, with static structures and work programs, while student criticism is often driven by specific interests rather than substantive intellectualism. Furthermore, institutional systems at STAIN Jember—such as nontransparent governance and authoritarian policies—provoke reactive demonstrations. The study concludes that restructuring skilled management, reforming institutional systems toward transparency and adaptability, and modeling intellectual, sensitive, and moral behavior by leaders are essential to restoring credibility and fostering responsible academic activism. Demonstrasi mahasiswa STAIN Jember cenderung menunjukkan tindakan anarkis dan berlebihan, menyimpang dari kerangka intelektualitas, sensibilitas, dan moralitas. Berpijak pada teori perilaku Spearman dan Burt serta psikoanalisis Freud, penelitian ini bertujuan merumuskan manajemen terampil bagi organisasi mahasiswa, mengkaji apakah demonstrasi merupakan parameter intelektualitas atau emosi, serta mengintegrasikan manajemen terampil dengan perilaku organisasi. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif studi kasus, data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipan, dan dokumentasi, menggunakan teknik snowball sampling serta analisis grounded theory. Temuan menunjukkan organisasi mahasiswa belum memiliki manajemen terampil; struktur dan program kerja bersifat statis, sementara kritik mahasiswa lebih didorong kepentingan tertentu而非 substansi intelektual. Sistem kelembagaan STAIN Jember yang kurang transparan dan otoriter turut memicu aksi reaktif. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa penataan manajemen terampil, reformasi sistem menuju keterbukaan dan adaptabilitas, serta keteladanan perilaku intelektual, sensitif, dan bermoral dari pimpinan mutlak diperlukan guna memulihkan kredibilitas dan menghasilkan aktivisme akademik yang bertanggung jawab.

Abstract

The socioeconomic marginalization of urban scavenger communities often obscures the role of Islamic values in shaping their daily lives, creating a disconnect between religious doctrine and cultural practice. This study is grounded in the broader discourse on Islam and cultural transformation, particularly among informal-sector workers in Indonesia’s urban poor. The research aims to examine how Islamic perspectives are integrated into the cultural practices of scavenger families in Jember and to identify which cultural aspects hinder or support Islamic development programs. A qualitative-descriptive method was employed, involving observations, interviews, and documentation with 50 respondents from the scavenger community. The findings reveal that most scavengers are economic migrants whose daily activities are dominated by survival needs, while religious practices remain minimal and ceremonial. Although they view poverty as divine destiny, they maintain strong work ethics and optimism. However, formal worship and communal religious participation are limited by time constraints and low religious literacy. The study concludes that Islamic development programs for scavenger families must consider their economic realities and culturally specific understandings of religion, and recommends context-sensitive dakwah approaches that integrate material and spiritual empowerment Marginalisasi sosial-ekonomi komunitas pemulung perkotaan sering mengaburkan peran nilai-nilai Islam dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, menciptakan kesenjangan antara doktrin agama dan praktik budaya. Penelitian ini berlandaskan wacana tentang Islam dan transformasi budaya, khususnya pada sektor informal di kalangan masyarakat miskin perkotaan Indonesia. Penelitian bertujuan mengkaji bagaimana perspektif keislaman menjadi unsur pola budaya keluarga pemulung di Kota Jember dan segi-segi budaya mana yang menjadi kendala atau pendukung program pengembangan Islam. Metode deskriptif kualitatif digunakan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi terhadap 50 responden dari komunitas pemulung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas pemulung adalah urbanis yang didorong faktor ekonomi, sehingga aktivitas ekonomi mendominasi keseharian mereka, sementara aktivitas keagamaan relatif kecil dan bersifat seremonial. Meskipun mereka memandang kemiskinan sebagai takdir Tuhan, mereka tetap memiliki etos kerja tinggi dan optimisme. Namun, ibadah formal dan partisipasi keagamaan sangat terbatas karena kesibukan dan rendahnya literasi agama. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa program pengembangan Islam bagi keluarga pemulung harus mempertimbangkan realitas ekonomi dan pemahaman budaya mereka, serta merekomendasikan pendekatan dakwah kontekstual yang mengintegrasikan pemberdayaan material dan spiritual.

Abstract

The effectiveness of police organizations in Indonesia is increasingly challenged by demands for clean governance and public accountability, yet empirical evidence on how leader behavior specifically drives member performance remains limited. Drawing on leadership and organizational behavior theories, this study investigates the direct and indirect effects of task-oriented and relationship-oriented leader behaviors on police members’ intrinsic motivation and job performance. The research aims to examine whether task and relationship behaviors influence motivation and whether motivation mediates the impact of these leadership behaviors on performance. A survey was conducted with 119 police officers from the Jember Resort Police using stratified random sampling, and data were analyzed through path analysis after confirming classical assumptions. The findings reveal that relationship-oriented leader behavior significantly affects motivation, which in turn strongly predicts performance. By contrast, task-oriented behavior shows no direct effect on performance but influences it only through motivation. The study concludes that motivation serves as a critical mediator between leader behaviors and performance and recommends that police leadership development prioritize relationship-building and intrinsic reward systems rather than solely task directives. Efektivitas organisasi kepolisian di Indonesia semakin ditantang oleh tuntutan tata kelola yang bersih dan akuntabilitas publik, namun bukti empiris tentang bagaimana perilaku pemimpin secara spesifik mendorong kinerja anggota masih terbatas. Berlandaskan teori kepemimpinan dan perilaku organisasi, penelitian ini menyelidiki pengaruh langsung dan tidak langsung dari perilaku tugas dan perilaku hubungan pemimpin terhadap motivasi intrinsik serta kinerja anggota kepolisian. Tujuan penelitian adalah menguji apakah perilaku tugas dan hubungan memengaruhi motivasi, dan apakah motivasi memediasi dampak kedua perilaku tersebut terhadap kinerja. Survei dilakukan terhadap 119 anggota POLRES Jember menggunakan stratified random sampling, dan data dianalisis dengan analisis jalur setelah uji asumsi klasik terpenuhi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perilaku hubungan pemimpin berpengaruh signifikan terhadap motivasi, dan motivasi selanjutnya secara kuat memprediksi kinerja, sementara perilaku tugas tidak berpengaruh langsung terhadap kinerja tetapi hanya melalui motivasi. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa motivasi berperan sebagai mediator kritis antara perilaku pemimpin dan kinerja, dengan rekomendasi bahwa pengembangan kepemimpinan kepolisian sebaiknya mengutamakan pembangunan hubungan dan sistem penghargaan intrinsik daripada sekadar instruksi tugas.

Abstract

Low student learning outcomes in Research Methodology courses are often attributed to poorly designed textbooks and insufficient attention to individual learning styles. This study is grounded in instructional communication and Gagne’s learning conditions theory, which emphasize the roles of instructional media and learner characteristics in shaping academic achievement. The research examined the effects of instructional media and learning styles on students’ learning gains. A 2x2 factorial design with pre- and post-test control groups was employed, involving 40 students selected through quota random sampling from STAI Ibrahimy. The test’s reliability coefficient was 0.731, and data were analyzed using two-way ANOVA. The findings revealed that instructional media significantly contributed to learning outcomes, with the experimental group using structured teaching materials outperforming the control group using conventional textbooks. However, no significant differences in learning outcomes were found based on visual or auditory learning styles, nor was there a significant interaction effect between instructional media and learning styles. The study concludes that well-designed instructional media can substantially enhance learning achievement regardless of students’ dominant learning styles. It is recommended that higher education institutions develop comprehensive, self-instructional teaching materials for methodology courses, while further research should explore other moderating factors such as motivation or prior knowledge. Rendahnya hasil belajar mahasiswa pada mata kuliah Metode Penelitian sering disebabkan oleh buku teks yang tidak dirancang secara sistematis serta kurangnya perhatian terhadap gaya belajar individu. Penelitian ini berpijak pada teori komunikasi pembelajaran dan kondisi belajar Gagne, yang menekankan peran media pembelajaran dan karakteristik pebelajar dalam pencapaian akademik. Tujuan penelitian adalah menguji kontribusi media pembelajaran dan gaya belajar terhadap perolehan belajar mahasiswa. Metode eksperimen dengan desain faktorial 2x2 dan pre-test post-test control group digunakan, melibatkan 40 mahasiswa STAI Ibrahimy melalui quota random sampling. Koefisien reliabilitas tes sebesar 0,731, dan analisis data menggunakan ANOVA dua jalur. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa media pembelajaran berkontribusi signifikan terhadap perolehan belajar, di mana kelompok yang menggunakan bahan ajar terstruktur memperoleh hasil lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelompok dengan buku teks konvensional. Namun, tidak ditemukan perbedaan signifikan dalam perolehan belajar berdasarkan gaya belajar visual maupun auditorial, serta tidak ada efek interaksi antara media pembelajaran dan gaya belajar. Kesimpulannya, media pembelajaran yang dirancang dengan baik mampu meningkatkan hasil belajar secara substansial terlepas dari gaya belajar mahasiswa. Rekomendasi penelitian ini adalah agar perguruan tinggi mengembangkan bahan ajar lengkap untuk mata kuliah metode penelitian, serta perlunya kajian lebih lanjut terhadap faktor moderator lain seperti motivasi atau kemampuan awal.

Abstract

Despite the global importance of English, students in Islamic higher education institutions in Indonesia persistently struggle to master it, partly due to inappropriate teaching methods. This issue is critical because curriculum reforms have increased English credit hours without a corresponding improvement in outcomes. Grounded in the theoretical problem of method selection in foreign language teaching, this study aims to identify which teaching methods are effective for English as a foreign language instruction in Islamic higher education. Using a library research approach, the study analyzed ten widely recognized teaching methods, considering their characteristics and the specific context of Islamic higher education students. The findings reveal that the Grammar-Translation Method is effective for grammar, structure, translation, and reading, while the Audiolingual Method, Silent Way, Community Language Learning, Communicative Language Teaching, Oral Approach, and Natural Approach are effective for speaking classes. Suggestopedia effectively supports reading, translation, retelling, and conversation. Conversely, the Direct Method and Total Physical Response are not effective for speaking instruction in this context. The study concludes that no single method fits all purposes and recommends that lecturers selectively apply or adapt methods based on specific course objectives and student characteristics. Meskipun bahasa Inggris penting secara global, mahasiswa di perguruan tinggi agama Islam Indonesia masih menghadapi kesulitan dalam menguasainya, sebagian karena metode pengajaran yang kurang tepat. Isu ini krusial karena reformasi kurikulum telah menambah beban SKS bahasa Inggris tanpa diiringi peningkatan hasil yang signifikan. Berlandaskan pada masalah teoretis tentang pemilihan metode dalam pengajaran bahasa asing, penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi metode pengajaran yang efektif untuk bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa asing di lingkungan perguruan tinggi agama Islam. Dengan pendekatan kajian pustaka, penelitian ini menganalisis sepuluh metode pengajaran yang dikenal luas berdasarkan karakteristiknya dan konteks spesifik mahasiswa perguruan tinggi agama Islam. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa Metode Grammar-Translation efektif untuk tata bahasa, struktur, terjemahan, dan membaca; sementara Metode Audiolingual, Silent Way, Community Language Learning, Communicative Language Teaching, Oral Approach, dan Natural Approach efektif untuk kelas berbicara. Suggestopedia efektif untuk membaca, terjemahan, menceritakan kembali, dan percakapan. Sebaliknya, Metode Direct dan Total Physical Response tidak efektif untuk pengajaran berbicara dalam konteks ini. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa tidak ada satu metode pun yang cocok untuk semua tujuan, dan merekomendasikan dosen untuk secara selektif menerapkan atau menyesuaikan metode berdasarkan tujuan mata kuliah dan karakteristik mahasiswa.

Abstract

The implementation of Islamic religious education within the family is increasingly urgent amid concerns about moral divergence and the erosion of religious values in contemporary society. Islamic education is theoretically the foundation for shaping complete human beings (insan kamil) through lifelong learning. This study aims to describe how Islamic religious education is implemented and the roles parents play in carrying it out within families in Alassumur Village. A qualitative descriptive case study design was employed, using participant observation, unstructured interviews, and documentary methods to collect data from key informants, including village officials, religious leaders, community leaders, and residents. The findings reveal that Islamic religious education in the village encompasses three main areas: aqidah (faith), syari'ah (worship practices, including prayer, fasting, and zakat), and akhlak (morals toward God, parents, others, and the environment). Parents perform three primary roles: as instructors providing religious knowledge, as trainers modeling and practicing religious activities, and as counselors guiding and supervising children's behavior. The study concludes that family-based Islamic education is foundational for children's character development, and it recommends that parents increase time for direct guidance despite constraints such as work obligations. Pelaksanaan pendidikan agama Islam dalam keluarga semakin mendesak di tengah kekhawatiran terjadinya penyimpangan moral dan lunturnya nilai-nilai keagamaan dalam masyarakat kontemporer. Secara teoretis, pendidikan Islam berfungsi sebagai fondasi pembentukan manusia utuh (insan kamil) melalui proses pendidikan seumur hidup. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan pendidikan agama Islam serta peran orang tua dalam keluarga di Desa Alassumur. Pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan rancangan studi kasus digunakan, dengan metode observasi partisipan, wawancara tidak terstruktur, dan dokumentasi kepada informan kunci seperti perangkat desa, tokoh agama, tokoh masyarakat, dan warga. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan agama Islam di desa tersebut mencakup tiga bidang utama: akidah, syariah (sholat, puasa, zakat), dan akhlak (kepada Tuhan, orang tua, sesama, dan lingkungan). Orang tua menjalankan tiga peran utama: sebagai pengajar yang memberikan pengetahuan agama, sebagai pelatih yang membiasakan praktik ibadah, dan sebagai pembimbing yang mengawasi perilaku anak. Kesimpulannya, pendidikan agama dalam keluarga merupakan fondasi utama pembentukan kepribadian anak, dan direkomendasikan agar orang tua meningkatkan waktu bimbingan langsung meskipun terdapat kendala seperti kesibukan kerja.

Abstract

The family planning program in Indonesia has tended to position women as objects of population control rather than as autonomous subjects in contraceptive decision-making. This study examines the implementation of rural women's reproductive rights to choose contraception, focusing on their authority and freedom. This normative legal research uses secondary data from library research and primary data from interviews and questionnaires with 50 respondents in Mrican Village, Ponorogo. The findings reveal that most women lack adequate information about contraceptive side effects, and the chosen methods are easier for health providers to control than for women themselves. Eighty percent of respondents never received information on reproductive health. While 60% made decisions jointly with their husbands, 40% faced passive husbands who considered family planning a woman's affair. The study concludes that rural women's rights to choose contraception are not fully respected and recommends improving the quality of care based on informed consent and active male participation. Program Keluarga Berencana (KB) di Indonesia selama ini cenderung menjadikan perempuan sebagai objek pengendalian populasi, bukan subjek yang berhak menentukan pilihan kontrasepsi secara otonom. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji implementasi hak reproduksi perempuan desa dalam memilih alat kontrasepsi, dengan fokus pada otoritas dan kebebasan mereka dalam pengambilan keputusan. Penelitian hukum normatif ini menggunakan data sekunder dari studi kepustakaan dan data primer dari wawancara serta kuesioner terhadap 50 responden di Desa Mrican, Ponorogo. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar perempuan tidak memperoleh informasi memadai tentang efek samping kontrasepsi, dan alat kontrasepsi yang dipilih lebih mudah dikontrol petugas kesehatan daripada oleh penggunanya. Sebanyak 80% responden tidak pernah mendapat informasi reproduksi sehat, dan 60% responden membuat keputusan kontrasepsi berdasarkan kesepakatan dengan suami, namun 40% lainnya menunjukkan sikap pasif suami yang menganggap KB sebagai urusan perempuan semata. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa hak perempuan desa dalam memilih kontrasepsi belum sepenuhnya dihormati, dan direkomendasikan peningkatan kualitas pelayanan KB berbasis informed consent serta partisipasi aktif suami.

Abstract

Despite government programs promoting interreligious harmony, social unrest and conflicts with ethnic, religious, racial, and intergroup dimensions persist in Indonesia, particularly in DKI Jakarta. Drawing on Talcott Parsons' theory of religion as a system of reference values, this study examines whether officially implemented reconciliation activities have been effective in achieving social stability. The research aims to evaluate the pattern of harmony development in Jakarta, identify factors that support or inhibit it, and analyze past religious conflicts and their resolutions. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through purposive sampling, including interviews with religious and community leaders and Department of Religious Affairs officials, alongside document analysis of print and electronic media. The findings reveal that dominant conflict triggers are not purely religious but are primarily political and economic, such as land disputes, parking rights, uneven social assistance, and unregulated religious celebrations. The Ketapang tragedy exemplifies how non-religious triggers can escalate into religious violence. The study concludes that harmony programs lack coordination and are often treated reactively. Recommendations include increasing the quality and quantity of religious instructors, establishing continuous and simultaneous programs, and involving the private sector and state-owned enterprises in sustaining interreligious harmony initiatives. Meskipun program pemerintah untuk meningkatkan kerukunan umat beragama telah berjalan, konflik sosial bernuansa suku, agama, ras, dan antargolongan masih terjadi di Indonesia, khususnya DKI Jakarta. Mengacu pada teori Talcott Parsons tentang agama sebagai sistem acuan nilai, penelitian ini mengkaji efektivitas program rekonsiliasi yang telah dilaksanakan pemerintah dalam mencapai stabilitas sosial. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi pola pembinaan kerukunan di Jakarta, faktor pendukung dan penghambatnya, serta menganalisis konflik keagamaan yang pernah terjadi. Metode deskriptif kualitatif digunakan dengan teknik purposive sampling melalui wawancara bersama tokoh agama, tokoh masyarakat, dan pejabat Departemen Agama, serta analisis dokumen media cetak dan elektronik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemicu dominan konflik bukanlah faktor agama semata, melainkan faktor politik dan ekonomi seperti rebutan lahan, parkir, bantuan sosial terselubung, dan perayaan tradisi keagamaan yang kurang memperhatikan umat lain. Tragedi Ketapang menjadi contoh bagaimana faktor non-agama memicu kekerasan bernuansa agama. Kesimpulannya, program kerukunan masih kurang koordinasi dan bersifat reaktif. Rekomendasi mencakup peningkatan kualitas dan kuantitas penyuluh agama, program berkelanjutan, serta keterlibatan swasta dan BUMN dalam upaya kerukunan beragama.

Abstract

Rising public awareness of higher education has intensified competition among private universities to attract prospective students, making it essential to understand the marketing mix factors that influence their choices. This study aims to identify the marketing mix factors considered by students and determine the most dominant factor in selecting Abdurrachman Saleh University in Situbondo. The analysis was conducted on 35 marketing mix variables using factor analysis with proportional random sampling of 250 respondents. The results showed that 33 variables were grouped into 11 new factors with eigenvalues above 1 and a cumulative total variance of 64.133%. Location was the primary consideration, with a variance value of 9.641%, followed by product (7.744%) and price (6.986%). It is concluded that all marketing mix factors are considered by students, with location being the most important. It is recommended that universities pay attention to strategic location while improving study program quality and teaching staff. Kesadaran masyarakat yang meningkat terhadap pendidikan tinggi mendorong persaingan ketat antar perguruan tinggi swasta dalam menarik calon mahasiswa, sehingga penting untuk memahami faktor-faktor bauran pemasaran yang menjadi pertimbangan utama. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi dan menentukan faktor-faktor bauran pemasaran serta faktor yang paling dominan dipertimbangkan mahasiswa dalam memilih kuliah di Universitas Abdurahman Saleh Situbondo. Analisis dilakukan terhadap 35 variabel bauran pemasaran menggunakan analisis faktor dengan teknik proportional random sampling terhadap 250 responden. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 33 variabel tergabung dalam 11 faktor baru dengan eigenvalue lebih dari 1 dan total varians kumulatif sebesar 64,133%. Faktor lokasi merupakan pertimbangan utama dengan nilai varians 9,641%, diikuti faktor produk (7,744%) dan harga (6,986%). Disimpulkan bahwa semua faktor bauran pemasaran dipertimbangkan mahasiswa, dengan lokasi sebagai faktor terpenting. Direkomendasikan agar perguruan tinggi memperhatikan lokasi strategis sekaligus meningkatkan kualitas program studi dan staf pengajar.

Abstract

The rapid growth of the global tourism sector demands superior service quality in the hospitality industry, yet many hotels in developing regions struggle to align employee attitudes with organizational goals. This study examines how employee attitudes—specifically salary, management leadership, promotion opportunities, and working conditions—affect the achievement of hotel industry objectives in Madura, Indonesia. Primary data were collected through purposive sampling from nine non-star hotels across four districts. Using multiple linear regression, the findings show that all four variables simultaneously have a significant positive effect on goal achievement at the 5% level. Among these, employee salary emerges as the dominant factor influencing organizational success, followed by promotion, leadership, and working conditions. The study concludes that improving salary structures is the most critical intervention for hotel management to enhance employee attitudes and achieve customer-oriented business development. Recommendations include evaluating compensation policies, fostering strategic leadership, and designing non-linear models for future research. Pertumbuhan pesat sektor pariwisata global menuntut kualitas layanan unggul di industri perhotelan, namun banyak hotel di daerah berkembang masih menghadapi kendala dalam menyelaraskan sikap karyawan dengan tujuan organisasi. Penelitian ini mengkaji hubungan antara sikap karyawan—terutama gaji, kepemimpinan manajemen, promosi, dan kondisi kerja—dengan pencapaian tujuan industri hotel di Madura. Data primer dikumpulkan secara purposive sampling dari sembilan hotel melati di empat kabupaten. Dengan analisis regresi linear berganda, hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keempat variabel secara simultan berpengaruh positif dan signifikan pada taraf 5%. Secara parsial, gaji karyawan merupakan faktor dominan yang mempengaruhi keberhasilan organisasi, diikuti promosi, kepemimpinan, dan kondisi kerja. Penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa peningkatan struktur gaji merupakan intervensi paling kritis bagi manajemen hotel untuk memperbaiki sikap karyawan guna mencapai pengembangan usaha yang berorientasi pelanggan. Rekomendasi mencakup evaluasi kebijakan kompensasi, pengembangan kepemimpinan strategis, dan perancangan model non-linear untuk penelitian selanjutnya.
