Abstract

Economic development aims to improve the standard of living and welfare of its community. The welfare of mustahik is when an individual or group of zakat recipients (mustahik) can achieve a standard of living better than before. This research aims to determine whether work ethic influences the welfare of mustahik, to find out whether mentorship impacts the welfare of mustahik, to analyze how work ethic and mentorship together influence the welfare of mustahik in productive zakat programs, to identify the most dominant factors affecting the welfare of mustahik in productive zakat programs, and to understand the extent of the influence of work ethic and mentorship on the welfare of mustahik in productive zakat programs. This research employs a quantitative research method, utilizing the Partial Least Square (PLS) technique, specifically Outer Loading Test and Inner Loading Test. The sample in this study consisted of 30 beneficiaries, and the data collection method used a questionnaire. The results of this study found that: First, work ethic has a direct impact on the well-being of beneficiaries. Second, mentoring does not have an impact on the well-being of beneficiaries. Third, work ethic (X1) and mentoring (X2) do not influence the well-being of beneficiaries (Y). Fourth, business mentoring does not have a significant impact on the well-being of beneficiaries, but work ethic does provide a significant impact. Fifth, a high work ethic is an important component in improving the well-being of beneficiaries. However, some types of mentoring do not have a significant impact on the well-being of beneficiaries. The estimated influence of work ethic is around 35%, while for mentoring it is < 5%, and the remaining 60% is influenced by variables outside the study

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to determine the perception of non-Muslim Chinese ethnic communities towards Islamic banking, especially the community in Kampung Cina, Bengkulu City. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach with in-depth interview techniques with ten informants. The results of the study indicate that the majority of the community is aware of the existence of Islamic banking and understand that the service is open to all groups. However, their level of understanding of the principles and systems of Islamic banking is still low. This low level of understanding is caused by minimal socialization and limited facilities and services. In addition, most people feel that their financial needs have been met by conventional banks. This study recommends increasing socialization and expanding services to increase the inclusiveness of Islamic banking

Abstract

The growth of Sukuk in Indonesia is still quite low compared to other countries with a majority Muslim population. It is still urgent for the academy to analyze the growth of sukuk in regions in Indonesia and to find out what strategies are for developing sukuk in the future. Meanwhile, the development of sharia investment in Bengkulu province in 2019 has increasingly shown its development. The main source of income for the people of Kaur Regency comes from coffee, palm oil, rubber, and rice field plantations. The investments that have been made so far are only investments in deposits, house purchases, and plantation land. Meanwhile, investment through sukuk is still unfamiliar among the people of Kaur Regency. The objectives to be achieved from the introduction of this sukuk are to find out how the people of Bengkulu City understand the sukuk instruments in the sharia capital market. To analyze whether sukuk instruments can act as an investment vehicle that can help the government build the country, especially Bengkulu province. The research approach used in this study is the PAR method or Participatory Action Research. Participatory Action Research is a research model that seeks something to connect the research process to the process of social change. The purpose of the sharia investment teaching program or State Sharia Securities in Rural Communities is that the Indonesian people will benefit from sukuk issued by the Indonesian government, produce reference materials for teaching materials, as a means to redevelop investment with sukuk instruments as a means to build the country and as input and consideration for the government in developing sharia investment in sukuk instruments in communities in the regions

Abstract

Background: The advancement of digital technology has significantly changed people's consumption behavior, especially among Generation Z Muslims. However, studies that specifically measure digital consumerism within the framework of Islamic economics are still limited. This study aims to analyze digital consumerism based on cultural, economic, and social aspects, as well as develop a valid and reliable measurement instrument in accordance with Islamic values. Method: The method used is descriptive quantitative with a Likert scale questionnaire instrument consisting of 13 statement items. The instrument was tested on 30 Muslim generation Z respondents in Bengkulu Province through three validity and reliability tests using Minitab software. Results: The results showed that most statement items had correlation coefficients above 0.5 and a Cronbach's Alpha value above 0.94, signifying excellent internal consistency and reliability. The results of validity and reliability tests conducted three times using Minitab showed that out of 13 items, there were 8 items that were declared valid and reliable with a correlation value > 0.5 and Cronbach's Alpha above 0.94. Conclusion: This instrument is expected to be a reference for further research in measuring Islamic consumerism and as a basis for developing consumption education strategies that are in accordance with sharia principles in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the social exclusion of 11 digital prostitutes in Yogyakarta as "Invisible Mustahik" through the theoretical framework of social exclusion by Amartya Sen and Hilary Silver. This research is significant in filling the gap in the literature on Islamic philanthropy for stigmatized groups, by examining how administrative barriers and moral stigma hinder their access to zakat. This qualitative research used a netnographic design in the digital space MiChat Yogyakarta, involving 11 prostitutes selected through purposive sampling for primary data collection. The data were then analyzed thematically using an analysis similar to ATLAS.ti software to examine the correlation between administrative barriers, moral stigma, and typologies of social exclusion. This research identifies six typologies of "Invisible Mustahik," characterized by vulnerability driven by a lack of local identity and social stigma. These barriers significantly restrict 11 sex workers' access to the zakat system, thereby depriving them of their capabilities as asnaf. This study recommends that zakat institutions relax domicile administrative requirements and develop anonymous and stigma-free digital outreach protocols. These findings are crucial for policymakers transforming the Islamic philanthropy system to be more inclusive of hidden populations in the digital space. This research makes a unique contribution by introducing the concept of "Invisible Mustahik" to the hidden population in the MiChat app, a niche rarely explored in Islamic philanthropy literature. Its novelty lies in the synthesis of Sen's Capability Theory and Silver's Exclusion Paradigm to reconstruct the asnaf criteria to be more inclusive of marginalized groups in the digital space.

Abstract

Background: The global Muslim population reached 26% in 2020 and is projected to reach 34% by 2070, driving significant demand for halal tourism. Indonesia, as the country with the largest Muslim population, possesses enormous potential for Sharia tourism development, yet faces challenges including unclear regulations, limited facilities, and low public awareness of halal certification. In Aceh, only two out of 84 accommodation units have obtained halal certification despite many claiming to operate on Sharia principles. Method: This study employed a quantitative approach with explanatory and correlational research design. A sample of 600 respondents was selected using simple random sampling from star-rated hotels in Banda Aceh. Data were collected through closed questionnaires with a 1-5 Likert scale. Data analysis utilized Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) based on Partial Least Squares (PLS) using SmartPLS 4.0 software. Results: The results indicate that all branding variables—Brand Salience, Brand Meaning, Brand Response, Brand Resonance—and the Role of Government have significant positive influences on Sharia tourism development (p-value < 0.05). Brand Resonance demonstrated the strongest influence (path coefficient 0.321), followed by the Role of Government (0.289). The model showed good goodness of fit with SRMR 0.035 and NFI 0.926. Conclusion: The conclusion emphasizes that strong halal accommodation branding and government support through regulation and oversight are essential keys to positioning Aceh as a leading destination in the global halal tourism industry.

Abstract

Background: Female fisherwomen in coastal Indonesia play a key role in post-harvest fisheries activities, yet their entrepreneurship development remains constrained by limited capital access, inadequate education, and motivational barriers. Objective: This study examines the influence of capital access, educational level, and entrepreneurial motivation on fisheries entrepreneurship development among female fisherwomen in Manado City, using an Islamic entrepreneurship framework. Method: A quantitative survey design was employed with 120 respondents selected through purposive sampling across four coastal sub-districts of Manado. Multiple linear regression was used to test four hypotheses. Results: Capital access (β = 0.312, p < 0.01), educational level (β = 0.287, p < 0.01), and entrepreneurial motivation (β = 0.341, p < 0.01) each significantly and positively influence fisheries entrepreneurship development, with the model explaining 60.8% of variance (Adj. R² = 0.608). Entrepreneurial motivation is the strongest predictor. Conclusion: Integrating Islamic microfinance instruments (qard hasan, mudharabah) alongside gender-responsive entrepreneurship education and productive waqf mechanisms can meaningfully strengthen women's fisheries entrepreneurship in coastal Indonesia.

Abstract

Background: The agricultural sector, particularly in rural areas like Pakarhumbada in North Sumatra, plays a crucial role in Indonesia's economy. However, despite its potential, the sector faces significant challenges, including low farmer welfare, weak infrastructure, and limited access to modern agricultural practices. This research aims to analyze the development model of agribusiness in Pakarhumbada based on Islamic economics, specifically integrating the principles of maqāṣid al-syarī‘ah to improve farmer welfare. Method: The study employs a qualitative approach combined with path analysis to explore the impact of production inputs, agricultural practices, market systems, and supporting factors on both the implementation of Islamic economics and the welfare of farmers. Results: The novelty of this research lies in the application of Islamic economic principles, including musyarakah, mudharabah, and wakaf within an agribusiness context, addressing the structural challenges that have hindered optimal agricultural growth. The study's findings indicate that enhancing the agricultural sector's value chain, improving farmer access to finance, and incorporating local Islamic economic practices can significantly improve economic stability for farmers. The future impact of these findings could reshape agribusiness practices in rural Indonesia, creating a more inclusive and sustainable economic environment for smallholder farmers Conclusion: The implications of this research suggest that for the agribusiness sector to thrive in regions like Pakarhumbada, policies must incorporate a more holistic approach that integrates Islamic economic practices, strengthens local institutions, and provides equitable access to resources. This framework could serve as a model for other agrarian regions in Indonesia, enhancing both economic and social welfare
