Abstract

This study examines the effects of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) usage and work motivation on job satisfaction among civil servants (ASN) in the East Java Provincial Government, with work–family balance (WFB) as a mediating variable. The study is grounded in the growing integration of ICT in public services, which, despite its benefits, may generate technostress and disrupt employees’ work–life balance. Conversely, work motivation is viewed as a personal resource that can enhance both WFB and job satisfaction. A quantitative approach was employed using data from 80 purposively selected ASN respondents who actively use e-government systems such as SIPD, e-kinerja, and SIRUP. Data were analyzed through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using SmartPLS. The findings reveal that ICT usage has no significant direct or indirect effect (via WFB) on job satisfaction. In contrast, work motivation significantly and positively influences job satisfaction, both directly and indirectly through WFB. Moreover, WFB has a significant direct effect on job satisfaction. These results indicate that intrinsic individual factors and work–life balance play a more crucial role in enhancing job satisfaction than the intensity of ICT use. This study underscores the importance of psychological and contextual factors in public sector human resource management and highlights the need for policies that manage ICT demands while supporting employees’ work–life balance in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of the Cermat Waste Bank Unit in Suwawal Timur Village, Pakis Aji District, Jepara Regency, using the social entrepreneurship theory proposed by Dees (1998). The research is motivated by the limited sustainability of waste banks in Jepara, indicated by the high number of inactive units due to weak management capacity, limited innovation, resource constraints, and lack of managerial regeneration. This research employs a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The analysis involved data reduction, data display, conclusion drawing, and was strengthened by SWOT analysis to formulate strategic recommendations. The findings reveal that social entrepreneurship practices within the Cermat Waste Bank are reflected in its strong social mission, continuous program innovation, courage in facing resource limitations, and orientation toward both social and economic value creation. Internal factors influencing sustainability include leadership, managerial commitment, and management systems, while external factors involve government support, community participation, and recycling market conditions. Recommended strategies include strengthening managerial capacity, digitalizing administrative systems, enhancing partnership networks, and diversifying circular economy-based programs. This study contributes theoretically to the development of community-based social entrepreneurship literature and practically to strengthening sustainable waste bank institutions.

Abstract

Employee performance is a key pillar in determining operational success and the quality of banking services. However, an unbalanced workload and a less-than-conducive work environment often trigger stress and reduce productivity. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the role of workload and the work environment in achieving employee performance targets at Bank Jateng Metro Branch. This study used a descriptive qualitative method, collecting data through observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The results show that proportional workload management—adjusted to the capacity and availability of human resources—has been proven to increase the effectiveness of optimal task completion. Furthermore, a conducive work environment, both physical and non-physical, significantly increases employee comfort and motivation. This study also identified variations in performance achievement between divisions influenced by job characteristics, task complexity, and the availability of supporting facilities. In conclusion, sustainable improvement in employee performance achievement depends heavily on balanced workload distribution, the creation of a supportive work environment, and the establishment of clear and measurable performance targets.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the motivation, implementation, barriers, and impacts of the green entrepreneurship concept at Craftonesia SME in Semarang City. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive case study method. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving the business owner, employees, consumers, and surrounding community members selected through purposive sampling. Data validity was tested using source triangulation and method triangulation, while data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model encompassing data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the owner's motivation was formed by five interrelated factors: environmental concern (green values), passion for crafts, positive market response (identifying gap in the market), desire for independence (being their own boss), and the need for additional income (making a living). The implementation of green entrepreneurship encompasses two main aspects: vision and mission, and production processes, including the use of waste paper as raw material, manual production with minimal pollution, natural dyes, food-grade coating, product variation, and zero waste management. Barriers encountered include limited skilled human resources, longer production time, low consumer awareness, and limited access to information on green business certification. The impacts of implementation align with the Triple Bottom Line framework, covering environmental waste reduction, community empowerment, and expanded market access through green industry exhibitions. This study concludes that micro-scale enterprises can consistently implement green entrepreneurship as a holistic and sustainable business approach.

Abstract

Research on young talent retention has become an important issue in human resource management, particularly in non-profit organizations that often face limitations in providing financial compensation. Therefore, organizations need to understand non-financial factors that influence job satisfaction and employees’ decisions to remain in the organization. This study aims to analyze the influence of employer branding, organizational social values, and career development on young talent retention with job satisfaction as a mediating variable at Yayasan Yuk Peduli. The study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method involving 100 respondents who represent young talents in the organization. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results indicate that employer branding, organizational social values, and career development have a positive and significant effect on job satisfaction. However, these variables do not have a significant direct effect on talent retention, and job satisfaction does not mediate the relationship between the independent variables and retention. These findings suggest that organizational factors play a greater role in shaping job satisfaction than in encouraging long-term retention. Therefore, non-profit organizations need to develop more comprehensive talent management strategies to strengthen employee loyalty and commitment.

Abstract

This study analyzes the influence of e-service quality and e-trust on customer loyalty at PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) KCP Binjai through the lens of Islamic Economics. The research background is triggered by the dynamics of Islamic banking digitalization and the cyber system disruption in May 2023 that tested the resilience of customer trust. The research method used is quantitative with an associative approach. Data were collected via questionnaires from 100 active BSI KCP Binjai customers selected using purposive sampling. Data analysis was performed with multiple linear regression and classical assumption tests. The results indicate that e-service quality and e-trust have a positive and significant effect on customer loyalty, both partially and simultaneously. In an Islamic Economics perspective, digital service quality is an embodiment of ihsan and itqan, while trust is the implementation of amanah values. The study concludes that technological infrastructure stability and moral integrity are vital for maintaining customer loyalty in the digital era.

Abstract

The satisfaction of non-permanent lecturers at the University of 17 August 1945 Surabaya due to the work environment and competence is the study of this research. With 57 non-permanent lecturers in the population, this research uses a quantitative and limited approach using saturated samples. By using data collection techniques through a Likert scale questionnaire, the data were analyzed using Partial Least Square (PLS) to measure the outer and inner models. The results of this study indicate that the Work Environment has a positive and significant influence on job satisfaction, while competence has a negative and insignificant influence on job satisfaction. This means that job satisfaction will be higher if an institution has a more conducive work environment, competence is one aspect of professionalism, but not all make someone feel more satisfied in working.

Abstract

Digital transformation has changed the global employment landscape through the emergence of the gig economy, with Grab as one of the largest platforms in Indonesia. In Cirebon City, there are 4,560 active Grab partners who face the paradox between work flexibility and the reality of strict algorithmic control. This study aims to analyze the influence of job autonomy, platform algorithmic control, and work-life balance on the performance of Grab partners in Cirebon City. The study used a quantitative approach with a multiple linear regression method on 150 active Grab partner respondents selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through a structured 5-point Likert scale questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, then analyzed using SPSS version 22. The results showed that job autonomy had a significant positive effect on performance with a coefficient of 0.424, work-life balance had a significant positive effect with a coefficient of 0.344, while platform algorithmic control had a minimal positive effect with a coefficient of 0.038. Simultaneously, all three variables had a significant effect, with the model Y = 9.578 + 0.424X₁ + 0.038X₂ + 0.344X₃. Job autonomy was the most dominant variable influencing performance, followed by work-life balance and platform algorithmic control. This study provides a theoretical contribution by integrating the Job Characteristics Model, Organizational Control Theory, and Conservation of Resources Theory in the context of the Indonesian gig economy. Practically, the results provide recommendations for Grab Indonesia to increase algorithm transparency and provide greater autonomy to partners. This study also provides an empirical basis for the government in formulating more comprehensive regulations for protecting digital platform workers.
