This study focuses on the interpersonal communication strategies employed by trainers in motivating gym members to achieve their fitness goals at Fit Hub Manyar Kertoadjo, Surabaya. The background of this research highlights the importance of communication in the fitness industry, where the success of training programs is not only determined by technical aspects but also by the trainer’s ability to build effective interpersonal relationships with members. The objective of this study is to analyze the forms of interpersonal communication messages used by trainers and their influence on members’ motivation in pursuing fitness programs. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, using in-depth interviews and documentation as data collection techniques, involving experienced trainers and active members of Fit Hub Manyar Kertoadjo. The findings indicate that trainers apply both verbal and nonverbal communication strategies tailored to the characteristics of each member, utilize digital media such as WhatsApp and Instagram to maintain communication continuity, and implement the principles of openness, empathy, supportiveness, positivity, and equality. These strategies have proven effective in enhancing motivation, building self-confidence, and strengthening the emotional bond between trainers and members. Therefore, it can be concluded that effective interpersonal communication from trainers plays a significant role in maintaining members’ training consistency, increasing motivation, and accelerating the achievement of fitness goals. This research is expected to serve as a reference for the development of trainers’ communication skills to support the success of fitness programs in Indonesia.

Abstract

The Sister City cooperation between Surabaya (Indonesia) and Busan (South Korea) has been ongoing since 1994 and covers various fields, one of which is education. This article aims to analyze the implementation of the educational cooperation program between Surabaya and Busan for the 2015–2025 period using Sister City analysis theory from a paradiplomacy perspective as the basis for the study. This research examines student exchange programs, teacher training, and scholarship support facilitated by the Busan Foundation for International Cooperation (BFIC) and the Surabaya City Education Office. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with data obtained through document review of official government reports, websites, online news, and academic literature related to educational diplomacy. The results indicate that the student exchange program, the Global Youth Friendship Program, school visits, teacher training, and scholarships contribute to increasing educational capacity and strengthening cultural ties between the two cities. However, budget constraints, program sustainability, and reliance on annual policies indicate that this collaboration has not been fully institutionalized sustainably within the regional education policy structure. This article recommends increasing the integration of education programs within the Sister City Agreement and strengthening coordination between the two city governments for the long-term education agenda.

Abstract

Financial statements are the primary tool for investors and stakeholders to assess a company's performance. However, manipulation of financial statements, which still frequently occurs, can result in information that does not reflect the actual condition, thereby increasing the risk of erroneous investment decisions, financial losses, and a decline in public trust in the capital market. Therefore, early detection of financial statement fraud is crucial. This study aims to provide empirical evidence regarding the relationship between internal pressure, external pressure, opportunity, rationalization, and capability on financial statement fraud. The research was conducted by applying panel data regression on 18 transportation and logistics companies listed on the IDX (Indonesia Stock Exchange) for the period 2021–2024. Statistical analysis employed a Fixed Effect Model, which was selected based on the Chow test and Hausman test. The selected model meets classical assumption tests. The results indicate that the sample data are suitable for analysis, and the partial influence of the variables on financial statement fraud shows that external pressure and rationalization have a negative significant effect on financial statement fraud. In contrast, internal pressure, opportunity, and capability do not have a significant effect. Future studies are recommended to include variables such as audit quality, changes in accounting policies, or audit opinions to better detect potential fraud on financial statement.

Abstract

Eighth-semester students who are working on their scientific projects often face academic pressures that lead to low levels of self-regulation, particularly in time management, learning consistency, and emotional control. This study aims to develop a self-regulation enhancement module based on the values of Wayang Jemblung using the Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model, employing a Likert scale questionnaire, interviews, and product trials with eighth-semester students at Universitas PGRI Argopuro Jember. The validation results indicated that the module received 75% from media experts and 75% from material experts, both of which fall into the valid category, confirming its feasibility for use. Furthermore, field trials through pre-test and post-test showed an improvement in students’ self-regulation from the low category (61.6%) to the high category (73.4%), although detailed individual increases are not elaborated. Qualitative findings supported these results by highlighting the internalization of cultural values, enhanced self-control, and increased learning motivation. Therefore, the Wayang Jemblung-based module is declared valid, feasible, and effective for improving the self-regulation of eighth-semester students who are completing their scientific projects, and it produces practical outputs in the form of a guidance module and a scientific article ready for publication.

Abstract

Leadership in Islam is a crucial issue. Even after the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) passed away, the first thing his companions did was elect a successor, not a successor as a Messenger or Prophet, but as a caliph. The rule of law and the enforcement of justice without discrimination depend on the leader. Therefore, electing a leader is neither trivial nor easy, especially when the leader is a non-Muslim or infidel, while the majority of the people are Muslims. Sheikh Yusuf Qaradawi stated in his Contemporary Fatwa that when someone hammers a nail into a person's head to elect, they are testifying that that person is worthy of being a leader for the Muslims, and all will be held accountable by Allah SWT on the Day of Judgment.

Abstract

The rapid development of the construction industry demands optimization in efficiency and sustainability principles. One approach that is increasingly being considered to address these challenges is the utilization of precast concrete systems. This research evaluates the impact of precast concrete structural system implementation on project performance, with a case study on the Kemah Tabernakel Church project in Pantai Indah Kapuk 2 (GKT-PIK2). Many factors can affect the performance of construction projects, including the 5M+T factors: Man, Measurement, Method, Material, Machine, and Time. The research uses a descriptive qualitative approach combined with quantitative analysis thru field observation, distribution of Likert-scale questionnaires, and expert interviews. Data analysis is performed using correlation tests and multiple linear regression with SPSS software to determine the significance of the impact of precast concrete structure system implementation. The research results indicate that the implementation of the precast system has a significant impact on improving project performance. The five dominant variables affecting performance are design changes, workforce competency, installation methods, tower crane usage, and timely delivery. These five factors have been proven to have a positive and linear relationship with overall project performance achievement. This research concludes that a precast concrete structural system designed according to SNI 9163:2023 regulations, and supported by appropriate technical and managerial strategies, is capable of improving project execution performance. The contribution of this research also provides practical implications in the form of technical recommendations to support the successful implementation of precast systems in multi-story building construction projects.

Abstract

The construction of subsidised housing in East Java is one of the government's main focuses in its efforts to improve public access to decent housing. Contractors play a role in the construction of subsidised housing by analysing potential construction risks. This study aims to identify, evaluate, and propose construction risk mitigation in subsidised housing projects from the contractor's perspective using the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) methods. Risk identification using the FMEA approach is applied to analyse the potential for risks to occurrence, the severity of risks, and the detection of risks, as well as to determine risk priorities based on the Risk Priority Number (RPN). Data and questionnaires from 43 correspondents were collected through interviews with project participants, field observations, form filling and project document studies. Questionnaire assessments were conducted on 39 basic risk indicator variables, with a weighting of 4,64% for delayed payments. Delays in material procurement were 4,54%, equipment risk due to loss of tools at the project site was 4,37%, method and construction technique risk due to design changes by the project owner that altered work methods and implementation was 4,19%, and labour risk due to labour shortages was 4,10%. Decision-making mitigation measures include changing the form of work orders, regarding the implementation schedule and payment period, procuring logistics warehouses for tools and materials, and recruiting new personnel. The recommendations provided include more detailed planning, strict supervision of the supply chain, and intensive coordination with stakeholders.

Abstract

ALKI I (Indonesian Archipelagic Sea Lane I) is one of the most strategic maritime routes within Indonesia's jurisdiction and serves as a major corridor for international maritime traffic. However, its strategic importance also makes it highly vulnerable to threats such as illegal activities, maritime law violations, and sovereignty breaches. To address these challenges, enhancing Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) is crucial through the development of an effective and responsive maritime surveillance system. This study aims to analyze the strategic contribution of the CN-235-220 Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA) in strengthening MDA in the ALKI I region. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through literature review, interviews with key stakeholders, and documentation of the aircraft's operational performance. The findings show that the CN-235-220 MPA possesses advanced capabilities in detecting, identifying, and tracking maritime activities through sophisticated sensors such as maritime radar, Automatic Identification System (AIS), and electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) cameras. The aircraft plays a critical role in maritime surveillance operations, supports rapid response to threats, and enhances multi-agency monitoring effectiveness. Furthermore, its presence contributes to Indonesia's regional defense posture and maritime security diplomacy. The study recommends increasing the number of aircraft units, strengthening interagency system integration, and optimizing technological capabilities to sustainably enhance MDA.
