Abstract

he use of digital media for cultural documentation is an increasingly relevant strategy in the digital era, particularly in the context of indigenous communities with vulnerable oral and non-material cultural heritage. This community service activity aims to increase the capacity of the Sentani Traditional School community to document cultural heritage through digital media. Facing the challenges of low digital literacy and the risk of losing oral culture, this program was designed based on community participation and an anthropological approach. The service method consisted of outreach, technical training, and mentoring in the use of simple digital devices such as cameras and mobile phones to document local dances, music, and cultural narratives. The results of the activity demonstrated an increase in participants' understanding and skills in creating digital documentation based on local values. An internal cultural documentation team was also formed to support the program's sustainability. This initiative demonstrates that cultural preservation can be carried out adaptively through the synergy of technology, local wisdom, and cross-sector collaboration.

Abstract

This community service initiative was motivated by the low capacity of residents to identify, plan, and implement solutions to their social environmental problems, particularly in the context of improving the quality of education and community empowerment. The objective of this activity was to strengthen the community's ability to conduct needs analysis, formulate action programs, and build sustainable collaboration between residents, schools, and local stakeholders. The method used was Participatory Action Research (PAR), which involves a reflection-action-evaluation cycle through focus group discussions, participant observation, local asset mapping, and collaborative workshops. The results of the community service demonstrated a significant increase in community engagement, the emergence of local initiatives based on real needs, and the formation of a more focused and sustainable joint action plan. Furthermore, the strengthened community capacity was evident in their ability to identify problems, develop solution strategies, and conduct independent evaluations of their activities. In conclusion, the PAR approach was effective in promoting community empowerment and independence. The main contribution of this service lies in its replicable collaborative model, strengthening social networks, and improving the quality of participatory program planning.

Abstract

Parents play a crucial role in early childhood development; however, many face difficulties in providing effective guidance due to limited knowledge, low motivation, and ineffective communication patterns. This community service program aims to increase parental motivation in guiding and educating six-year-old children through hypnoparenting training at Sumberwaru Kindergarten. The community service method uses Participatory Action Research (PAR), with the program implemented through several stages, including preparation, training implementation, evaluation, and follow-up. The training method consists of interactive lectures, discussions, and practical sessions on hypnoparenting techniques. Evaluation was conducted using pre- and post-test instruments to measure parents' understanding and motivation before and after the training. The community service results showed an increase in parental knowledge and motivation in guiding and educating their children. Parents demonstrated increased awareness of the importance of positive communication, emotional control, and consistent involvement in their children's learning process. In conclusion, hypnoparenting training is an effective and applicable approach to increasing parental motivation and strengthening their role in early childhood education. This program is expected to contribute to ongoing collaboration between schools and parents in supporting child development.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the tire sales sector play an important role in the local economy; however, many of them still experience fundamental problems in financial management, particularly in bookkeeping and the preparation of financial statements. Weak accounting practices limit the ability of MSME owners to understand their actual financial condition and to make rational business decisions. This community service activity aimed to strengthen the accounting capacity of a tire sales MSME through participatory accounting training and mentoring. The service employed a Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach, which positioned the MSME owner as an active subject in identifying problems, mapping daily transactions, and formulating practical bookkeeping solutions. Data were collected through participatory interviews, direct observation, documentation of transaction records, and reflective discussions. The results indicate a significant improvement in the partner’s understanding and practice of simple bookkeeping, reflected in the ability to systematically record daily transactions and to prepare a basic income statement and balance sheet. The PRA-based approach proved effective in transforming accounting knowledge into sustainable managerial practice because it was grounded in the real context of the business. In conclusion, this community service demonstrates that participatory accounting mentoring can effectively address financial management problems in MSMEs. Scientifically, this program contributes to the development of participatory-based community service models that bridge the gap between normative accounting concepts and practical MSME needs.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to strengthen Qur’anic learning through a community-based mentoring approach in Morosari Village, Sukorejo District. The program was designed to address challenges in non-formal Qur’anic education, particularly limited pedagogical capacity of local instructors, unstructured learning methods, and varying levels of learners’ Qur’anic reading abilities. An Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approach was employed to optimize existing community assets, including local Qur’anic teachers, religious institutions, and strong social support for Islamic education. The program was implemented through several stages: community asset mapping, collective goal formulation, participatory program design, mentoring-based implementation, and reflective evaluation. Mentoring activities focused on improving Qur’anic reading skills using structured methods such as talaqqi, tahsin, and learner grouping based on reading proficiency. Local instructors were actively involved as key actors, while the service team functioned as facilitators and mentors. The results indicate a significant improvement in learners’ Qur’anic reading fluency and accuracy, particularly in pronunciation and basic tajwīd application. In addition, local instructors demonstrated increased pedagogical awareness and improved teaching practices. Community participation also increased, reinforcing collective responsibility for Qur’anic education. Overall, the community-based mentoring model supported by the ABCD approach proved effective in enhancing the quality and sustainability of Qur’anic learning. This program offers a replicable model for strengthening community-driven Islamic education in similar rural contexts.
