Abstract

Community service activities include mentoring MSMEs in business licensing, simple financial management training, and utilizing digital technology for product marketing. This community service program aims to increase the competitiveness of MSMEs and strengthen the local economy based on available resources. This community service method uses Participation Action Research (PAR), with a qualitative descriptive approach with participatory-based implementation in helping to develop the potential of Plupuh Village, Plupuh District, Sragen Regency. The results of the community service show that community service activities are running smoothly with the main strategy for developing MSMEs in Plupuh Village including strengthening institutions, increasing human resource capacity, and utilizing digital technology. Digitalization of MSMEs has proven to be an effective solution in facing increasingly tight market competition. Strengthening partnerships with the government, private sector, and universities is also important to support the sustainability of MSMEs. This partnership can provide wider access to resources, funding, and technical guidance needed to increase the competitiveness of local products. The expected results of this community service program can be a reference for the development of community-based economic models in other similar areas.

Abstract

MSMEs in the tire trading sector play an important role in the local automotive industry, but often face obstacles in preparing accurate financial reports due to limited accounting knowledge. This causes difficulties in monitoring cash flow, measuring profitability, and accessing funding sources. Therefore, this community service aims to improve the understanding and skills of MSME actors in preparing simple financial reports through bookkeeping training. The method used is Participation Action Research (PAR) with a participatory approach involving lectures, interactive discussions, and direct assistance. This training includes material on the importance of financial reports, how to record daily transactions, and the preparation of balance sheets and profit and loss statements. The results of the community service show that participants experienced an increase in understanding in recording transactions systematically and structured, were able to separate personal and business finances, and prepare more accurate simple financial reports. However, there are still some weaknesses such as limited mentoring time and low understanding of accounting terms. In conclusion, this training is effective in improving the financial literacy of MSME tire trading actors, but more intensive mentoring and utilization of financial recording technology are needed to achieve more optimal results.

Abstract

This community service initiative aims to promote environmental sustainability through community-based waste management education. The rapid increase in urbanization and waste generation has significantly impacted the environment, necessitating effective waste management strategies at the community level. This project aimed to educate the community on waste segregation, composting, and recycling practices to foster sustainable waste management behaviors. Using a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, this program involved local communities in identifying waste management challenges and implementing practical solutions through education and training workshops. The results revealed a significant increase in knowledge about waste management practices, with 85% of participants adopting waste segregation and composting techniques at the household level. However, challenges such as limited space for composting and the varying willingness to adopt new behaviors among different age groups were identified. The program increased environmental awareness and behavior change in the community, highlighting the importance of local leadership and community involvement. The findings emphasize the need for continued infrastructure support and tailored approaches for different demographic groups to ensure the long-term success of waste management initiatives. This initiative contributes to the broader effort of achieving environmental sustainability through grassroots-level engagement and education.

Abstract

This community service initiative aimed to improve digital literacy among senior citizens, addressing the growing gap in technological access and usage that often marginalizes older adults in an increasingly digital world. The goal was to equip seniors with the necessary skills to navigate essential digital platforms for communication, healthcare, and daily activities. The service used a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, combining hands-on workshops with peer collaboration and continuous support. Participants engaged in practical tasks such as sending messages, making video calls, and accessing health services online. The results showed a significant improvement in participants' digital confidence, with many expressing increased autonomy and enhanced social connections. However, challenges such as limited access to devices and internet connectivity, along with physical impairments like poor eyesight and reduced dexterity, remained barriers. Despite these challenges, the program successfully fostered an environment of digital empowerment for senior citizens, demonstrating the positive impact of tailored digital literacy programs. In conclusion, this initiative highlights the importance of teaching technical skills and ensuring long-term access to technology for seniors. Future programs should address these barriers through partnerships and inclusive technology design to enhance the sustainability of digital literacy among older adults. This initiative contributes to the broader conversation on digital inclusion and empowerment, emphasizing the need for community-driven solutions to bridge the digital divide.

Abstract

This community service initiative aimed to empower rural communities by enhancing financial literacy and introducing micro-budgeting practices. The background of the study stems from the persistent challenge of financial instability in rural areas, where individuals often struggle with irregular incomes and limited access to formal financial services. The primary objective was to equip participants with practical financial management skills to reduce their dependency on informal loans and improve their financial decision-making. The method employed was a participatory approach using micro-budgeting training, which included hands-on budgeting, savings, and expense-tracking exercises adapted to the local economic context. The results showed a significant improvement in participants' ability to manage their finances, with notable reductions in reliance on informal lending and an increase in savings habits. Participants reported higher levels of financial confidence, particularly women, who gained greater financial autonomy. However, challenges remained in maintaining savings habits long-term due to irregular incomes. The initiative's contribution lies in providing a sustainable model for rural financial empowerment that goes beyond traditional microfinance by focusing on daily financial management. It highlights the importance of tailored financial education and community-driven learning for long-term economic stability. Future programs should incorporate personalized support and advanced financial strategies to enhance such initiatives' effectiveness further.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play a vital role in supporting economic growth, absorbing labor, and reducing poverty, yet many entrepreneurs still face challenges in financial management, particularly in bookkeeping practices. This community service program was carried out to respond to the limited capacity of ceramic trading entrepreneurs in Pekanbaru, who often manage their businesses informally without proper financial recording, which hampers decision-making, cost calculation, and access to financial support. The purpose of this program was to improve the knowledge and skills of MSME entrepreneurs in preparing simple bookkeeping records adapted to their business characteristics. The method applied was the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, involving socialization, lectures, discussions, and mentoring that enabled participants to directly practice recording daily transactions and compiling basic financial reports such as balance sheets and income statements. The results show that participants were able to separate personal and business finances, record transactions more regularly, and recognize the strategic importance of bookkeeping for business sustainability. The drawn conclusion is that bookkeeping training contributes significantly to increasing financial literacy and competitiveness of MSMEs, although long-term mentoring is still required to strengthen consistency and adoption of digital tools. This program contributes practically by empowering local entrepreneurs and theoretically by affirming the relevance of financial literacy in MSME development.

Abstract

One of the qualities and characteristics required in leadership is integrity. The main issue raised was the lack of awareness and consistency among students in demonstrating leadership behavior based on integrity values. This service aims to shape and strengthen integrity-based leadership among students in the Public Administration Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Cenderawasih University, by viewing students as agents of change and aspiring leaders. The method used was Participatory Action Research (PAR), which included interactive lectures, discussions (FGDs), and question-and-answer sessions delivered to fourth and sixth semester students. Evaluations were conducted before and after the activity to measure the increase in students' knowledge and understanding of integrity-based leadership. The results of this community service activity showed high student enthusiasm for the material, as well as an increase in conceptual understanding of the importance of values- and character-based leadership. The discussion also revealed that the lack of participation in student organizations was due to a lack of guidance and supporting facilities. Supporting factors for this activity included students' awareness of the importance of their role as aspiring leaders and the availability of curriculum support. Conversely, inhibiting factors included low participation in organizations and limited extracurricular activities. This activity emphasized that leadership is not an innate trait, but rather a skill that must be developed through learning and internalization of values. Recommendations provided include the need for further training and institutional support in the form of funding and facilities for student organizations.

Abstract

The diversity of Indonesian culinary flavors has become a distinct identity for the region, this local culinary food can be easily found from Sabang to Merauke. This community service activity aims to empower and pass on the skills of managing local culinary arts, namely Steamed Banana Sago (Em Nime Ouw), to the Ayapo community, especially the younger generation. The problem faced is the declining interest of the younger generation in preserving traditional culinary due to the dominance of instant foods and the flow of modernization. The method used in this activity is Participatory Action Research (PAR), with live demonstrations by traditional leaders and elderly women who are still actively involved in making traditional culinary. This activity is carried out in a participatory manner, involving local youth in the entire production process, from selecting ingredients (red sago flour, ripe bananas, coconut water), mixing, wrapping with farofe leaves, to steaming in a traditional stove. The results of the activity show that the demonstrative approach successfully increases practical understanding and cultural awareness among the younger generation, while fostering pride in local culinary identity. In addition, strengthening cultural values through culinary media opens up new economic opportunities based on sustainable local gastronomic tourism.
