Abstract

Teaching fiqh on the subject of funeral prayers requires both theoretical understanding and practical skills. However, the dominant use of lectures often makes students less active and difficult to understand the correct procedures for performing funeral prayers. This study aims to describe the application of the demonstration method and analyze its effectiveness in improving students' understanding and practical skills in funeral prayer in grade X at MAN 2 Deli Serdang. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the demonstration method is capable of creating more interactive and concrete learning, as well as improving students' cognitive, psychomotor, and affective aspects. Although there are obstacles such as time constraints and a lack of confidence among some students, these obstacles can be overcome through effective classroom management and teacher guidance. Thus, the demonstration method is considered effective for application in fiqh learning, especially for practical material.

Abstract

This study employed a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data were obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation. The informants included Islamic Religious Education teachers, homeroom teachers, and seventh-grade students. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was validated using source and technique triangulation. The results of the study indicate that Islamic Religious Education teachers play a significant role in shaping students' religious discipline. This role is realized through providing role models, fostering the habit of congregational prayer, fostering morality, guiding religious practices, and providing ongoing motivation and supervision. Strategies used include fostering daily religious practices, integrating religious values into learning, a persuasive and exemplary approach, providing rewards, and enforcing school rules. Supporting factors in fostering discipline include a religious school environment, adequate religious facilities, and support from the principal and other teachers. Inhibiting factors include a lack of motivation among some students, the influence of the external environment, and varying family backgrounds. In conclusion, the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers is highly influential in shaping the religious discipline of seventh-grade students at Nurul Amaliyah Junior High School, Tanjung Morawa. This role can be optimally implemented if supported by the school environment, parental cooperation, and a consistent and sustainable coaching approach. This research is expected to contribute to the development of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning practices and the development of students' religious character in schools.

Abstract

The imposition of sanctions on students is an integral part of the educational system, as not all students are able to maintain discipline and avoid violating the established norms. However, in practice, there are numerous cases of violations that harm students, particularly in the form of physical violence, which can lead to psychological trauma and even physical injury. On the other hand, when such cases become widespread, educators are faced with a moral dilemma: whether to allow students' indiscipline to persist or to impose sanctions for the violations they have committed. In such situations, a solution is needed so that both parties can receive their rights in a proportional manner. One proposed solution is the implementation of the concept of Uqubah Madrasiyyah (school sanctions) as explained by M. Athiyyah al-Abrasyi. This study is a literature review focusing on M. Athiyyah’s ideas in the field of Islamic education, particularly regarding the imposition of school sanctions on students. The results of this study indicate that M. Athiyyah al-Abrasyi’s thoughts on this matter are based on three key aspects: purpose, principles, and the technical application of sanctions on students. These three aspects are highly relevant to the implementation of contemporary Islamic education, ensuring that students are protected while educators retain the right to administer sanctions appropriately.
