Abstract

Infertility affects a significant portion of couples worldwide, with 30% of cases attributed to male factors, 30% to female factors, 30% to both partners, and 10% to unknown causes. This study focuses on two common causes of infertility: varicocele in men and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) in women. Varicocele, characterized by the enlargement of veins within the scrotum, disrupts spermatogenesis by increasing testicular temperature, leading to poor sperm quality. PCOS, affecting 5-10% of women of reproductive age, is marked by excessive androgen levels, irregular menstruation, and obesity, significantly raising the risk of infertility. Through case studies and literature review, this research highlights the potential for individuals with varicocele or PCOS to achieve pregnancy with appropriate treatment. The study aims to explore the specific examination and treatment processes required for these conditions and to provide insights into improving fertility outcomes for affected individuals.

Abstract

Our goal was to find morphological features that can help us identify or describe the stomata ontogeny and epidermal structures. Our team got seeds of two types of leguminous plants—Arachis hypogaea L. groundnuts and Vigna subterranean L. bambaranuts—from the Kano State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority and the Yankaba market in Nassarawa, which is in Kano State. The study specifically evaluated the leaf epidermal studies, stomata development (ontogeny), types of stomata, stomata size, pore length, pore width, and stomata index in both the surfaces of the leaves. We conducted ontogenetic studies using safety razor blades on the epidermal layers. We determined the stomata index by studying the type of stomata, the number of stomata, and the number of epidermal cells. We subjected the obtained data to a one-way analysis of variance. All the studied varieties/species exhibited amphistomatic stomata on both surfaces, with a higher density on the lower surface. In SAMNUT 23, we found the paracytic type of stomata, which is perigynous and has an irregular anticlinal cell wall. In Dandakar, we found the tetracyclic type, which is mesogynous and has a pentagonal epidermal cell shape and a slightly straight anticlinal cell wall. Finally, in Bambara nuts, we found the endocytic type, which is polygonal with a curved anticlinal wall and a mesoperigynous ontogeny.

Abstract

This research examines the literature on key concepts that drive strategy analysis, formulation, and implementation based on values, vision, and mission as guiding principles for determining a company's direction. This article utilizes a systematic literature review method to consolidate the findings of various studies and scientific literature. The process involves accessing and analyzing literature through digital search engines using keywords related to management strategies. The research uncovers a shortage of scientific literature containing important theoretical concepts that strategists can use as a roadmap for analyzing, formulating, and implementing strategies. This review adds to the existing literature by employing a management strategy approach to determine the company's direction.

Abstract

This study explores wedding invitation cards from a sociolinguistic perspective, focusing on a case study from Jordan. The study highlights the cultural and communicative significance of wedding invitations in Jordanian society. The objective is to analyze the linguistic features, social functions, cultural values reflected in these invitations, and structure (the components) of the wedding cards. Methods include qualitative content analysis of a sample of wedding invitation cards collected from various regions in Jordan, supplemented by interviews with card designers and recipients. Results indicate that the language of the invitations is a blend of formal Arabic, colloquial expressions, and occasional English phrases, reflecting social hierarchies, regional identities, and influences from globalization. The study also reveals that wedding invitations serve as a medium for displaying social status, familial bonds, and cultural traditions. The study concludes that wedding invitation cards in Jordan are not merely functional artifacts but are rich in sociolinguistic meaning, providing insights into the interplay between language, culture, and society in contemporary Jordan.

Abstract

This paper aims to provide a clear analysis to choose what is the best tool for their specific needs. This is a quantitative descriptive correlation study that determines the difference in terms of accuracy and precision of optical comparator and toolmaker. Two different materials were measured using an optical comparator and tool maker microscope at the Technological University of the Philippines Manila Campus. Technological University of the Philippines is one of the schools in the Philippines that uses the equipment. Two measuring machines can be located at the College of Industrial Technology (CIT), Mechanical Engineering Technology Department (MET). This location was chosen for its highly efficient and calibrated machines to come up with accurate results. Both machines are significantly useful to industry and companies. Toolmaker microscope is a bit complicated while optical comparator has very slight difference to its measurements. However, the optical comparator is less costly than that of a toolmaker’s microscope. This paper has navigated the complexity of both tool maker's microscope and optical comparators that offer great accuracy and precision in terms of measuring small components that are used in the manufacturing process to make products.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Most plant potential to resist pathogenic infections requires some sophisticated defense system which basically involves the production of low-molecular-weight antimicrobial metabolites known as phytoalexins. These compounds are known to exhibit toxicity towards a wide spectrum of pathogens, such as ffungi, bacteria, nematodes, and other organisms. This review delves into the diverse chemical structures and biosynthetic pathways of phytoalexins across various plant familie and some higher animals human alike. We examine the mechanisms of phytoalexin accumulation, through de novo synthesis, enzymatic biocatalysis activities, and the influence of biotic and abiotic elicitors. Understanding the complex connection between phytoalexin biosynthesis, accumulation, and antimicrobial activity is crucial for developing effective disease management strategies. By employing modern molecular biology tools, researchers can elucidate the genetic pattern of phytoalexin production and identify key genes involved in resistance and susceptibility. Keywords: Phytoalexins, biosynthesis, accumulation, antimicrobial, plant defense, elicitors, metabolites.

Abstract

This study investigates the crucial function of microbial populations in coal formation in West Bengal, India, specifically the Raniganj and Jharia coalfields. We used metagenomic analysis, isotopic research, and experimental simulations to investigate the role of ancient and present microbes to coalification. Key findings demonstrated that anaerobic bacteria such as Clostridium spp. and Desulfovibrio spp., as well as methanogenic archaea, enhanced organic matter decomposition and mineralization. Isotopic studies revealed microbial activity in carbon cycling and sulfate reduction, with δ13C depletion and δ34S enrichment. Experimental simulations reproduced coal-like material production, underlining the importance of microorganisms in coal preservation. This study sheds light on microbial-geochemical interactions and proposes potential biotechnological applications in energy production and carbon sequestration.
