Abstract

Background: Intensive Care Unit is a unit to treat critical patients who need intensive care and monitoring. This can pose many risks, one of which is getting pressure ulcers/decubitus ulcers. Pressure ulcers are wounds caused by continuous compression of soft tissue. Prevention of pressure ulcers can be done by treating the patient's skin using herbal oil. Purpose: To identify the effectiveness of giving herbal oil on the treatment of pressure ulcers in ICU patients. Methods: The literature search was carried out using the PICO framework. This systematic review is limited to articles published in 2011-2021. The databases used are Google Scholar, PubMed, Sage Journal, Science Direct, and ProQuest with the keywords (oil OR herbal oil) AND (decubitus OR pressure ulcers OR bedsores) AND (critical patient). The selection of articles follows the PRISMA flow. Assessment of article quality was carried out by supervisors and authors using the risk of bias from The Cochrane's Collaboration. Results: Based on the seven articles reviewed, five recommended oils were obtained, including olive oil, Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO), fish oil, almond oil and henna oil. The oil is applied by three methods, including by smearing without massage, smearing with massage and dressing. The instruments used are the Braden Scale, Suriadi Sanada Scale, Pressure Ulcer Scale for Healing (PUSH), International NPUAP/EPUAP Pressure Ulcer Classification System, micro life NC100 infrared thermometer and Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA). Conclusion: Herbal oil can be applied by various methods as a complementary therapy to prevent and treat pressure ulcers in patients in the ICU.

Abstract

Introduction: Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is a collection of symptoms and infectious diseases caused by damage to the human immune system due to infection with the HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus). The type of CD4 T lymphocyte cell is the main target of the HIV virus in infecting the human body. The lower the number of CD4 T lymphocytes in the blood, the lower a person's immune system will be. Methods: The authors conducted an article search beginning on June 10 using research in an electronic database. The Identified Article is a research study that investigates CD4 cell elevation in HIV/AIDS patients. Systematic compilation begins with search databases on Google Scholar, PHPJ, PubMed. the method is based on a prismatic systematic guideline and is systematically reviewed. Discussion: The results of this study indicate that the more progressive the HIV infection in a person's body, the lower his CD4 level will be. A decrease in CD4 levels will be followed by a decrease in the number of lymphocytes, the ratio of lymphocytes to leukocytes, and the ratio of lymphocytes to neutrophils. This shows that the immune system of people infected with HIV is decreasing. Conclusion: The more severe the condition of people with HIV infection, the lower the CD4 count. Complete blood counts were performed automatically using Abbott Diagnostics' CELL-DYN Ruby Hematology Analyzer.

Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension is a disease characterized by an increase in systolic where the results of blood pressure measurements reach more than 140 mmHg and in diastolic reach more than 90 mmHg. The incidence of hypertension in the elderly has increased in line with the increase in age group. Overall, the incidence of hypertension among the elderly in Indonesia is 26.5%. Hypertension can cause various complications if not controlled. Not wanting to take drugs and stress are the causes of uncontrolled hypertension in the elderly. Therefore, an alternative therapy is needed to control blood pressure in the elderly, namely by soaking feet in warm water with a mixture of salt and lemongrass and finger-holding therapy. Purpose: To determine the difference in the effect of warm water foot soak therapy with a mixture of salt and lemongrass and finger grip therapy in controlling blood pressure in the elderly. Methods: The method used in this research is a case study based on evidence based practice. Discussion: Based on the results of the study showed that there was a decrease in blood pressure at systole by 37 mmHg and by 12 mmHg at diastole on Mrs. W who has been given therapeutic intervention by soaking feet in warm water with a mixture of salt and lemon grass. Meanwhile, there was a decrease in blood pressure at systole by 45 mmHg and by 13 mmHg at diastole on Mrs. P who has been given finger-held relaxation therapy. In addition, there was a decrease in Mrs.'s stress level. W, which was originally 16, became 14 (down 2 levels) and at Mrs. P which was originally 19 to 15 (down 4 levels). These results indicate that finger-hold relaxation therapy is more effective in controlling blood pressure and stress levels compared to warm water foot soak therapy with a mixture of salt and lemongrass. No negative side effects were felt by both clients during the intervention. Conclusion: Intervention finger hold relaxation therapy was more effective in controlling blood pressure and stress than warm water foot soak therapy with a mixture of salt and lemongrass.
