Abstract

One of them objectives of laerning mathematic is understanding mathematic concepts. However, in reality at SMP Negeri 11 Padang the understanding of these mathematic concepts is still not optimal. One of them eforts that can be madde to improve students’ understand of mathernatic concepts is to apply the (TTW) type of coperative learning model. The purpouse of this researc is to desicribe and nalyse whether the understand of the mathematic concepts of student whom learns us the Think Talk Write (TTW) type of coperative learning model is beter then the understande of mathematic concepts of students who learn using conventional leaming models. This type of researc is a quasy experiment researc with a Static Group Design research design. In this design, the population is all students of class VIII SMP Negri 11 Padang. Sampling was done bye using random sampling tecnique. The researc instrument used was a test of understanding mathematicall concepts. This research hypothesis was conducted using the –t test. Based on the researc result, it waas conloud thats the TTW coperative learning model coulde improve students’ understanding of mathematic concepts. This shows that the effect of the TTW type of coperative learning models on them understanding of them mathematical concepts of students who learn using the TTW type of coperative learning models is beter than the understanding of the mathematic concepts of student who learn using conventional learn in class VIII of SMP Negeri 11 Padang. Keywords — Think Talk Write, Mathematical Concepts.

Abstract

Students must prioritize learning outcomes. In reality, the mathematics learning results of eighth grade students at SMPN 43 Padang are still below standard. The solution provided is the Think Talk Write (TTW) cooperative model. The research methodology used includes descriptive research and quasi-research, with Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design. By analyzing the learning outcomes test using the t-test, it shows a P-value of 0.009 at the significance level. This study involved all eighth grade students at SMPN 43 Padang for TP 2023/2024. Based on data analysis, learning outcomes through the Think Talk Write (TTW) type cooperative learning model are higher than students who learn using the direct learning model. Keywords– Learning outcomes, Cooperative Learning, Think Talk Write

Abstract

A mathematical communication ability is a skills that must be own by the student’s. However, based on the results of tests that have done in SMPN 3 Padang Panjang it still low and centered teacher learning. This can be improved by applying the cooperative type Thiink Pair Square learning model so it makes the student’s become active in the learning process. The purpose of this research are to know and describes whether the ability of mathematical communication skills of the student’s of the experimental class is better than the control class and to know how is the learning activities of the students by applying to Think Pair Square learning models. This type of this research is a combination of quasy experiment and descriptive research with a static group design research design. Based on the results of the research it can be concluded that the activities of the students that learn with the cooperative learning model think pair square tend to increase and mathematical communication ability of students that learn by think pair square is better than the student’s who learn by conventional learning. Keywords – Mathematical Communication Skiils, Learning Activity, Think Pair Square Learning’s Model

Abstract

Understand mathematical concepts is one of the goals of learning mathematics which is expected to be mastered well by student. The reality in the field is that the understanding of mathematical concepts of class IX student at SMPN 4 Padang is still low. One of the efforts make to improve the ability to understand students’ mathematical concepts is to use the PBL model. The purpose of this research is to describe whether the understanding of mathematical concepts of students who learn to use Problem Based Learning model assisted by the geschool social network is preferable than the understanding of mathematical concepts of students who study use conventional learning models assisted by the geschool social network in class IX of SMPN 4 Padang. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design with a static group design. The population in this study were students of class IX SMPN 4 Padang in the academic year 2021/2022. Sample selection was done by random sampling technique, selected class IX.5 as experimental class and class IX.4 as control class. The instrument used is a test of understanding mathematical concepts in the form of description questions. The hypothesis test used is the t test. Based on the results of research data analysis at the real level = 0,05 using the t test, it obtained that the understand of mathematical concepts of students who learn used the Problem Based Learning model with the help of the geschool social network was better than the students who used the conventional learning model assisted by the geschool social network in the classroom IX SMPN 4 Padang. Keywords - understanding mathematical concepts, Problem Based Learning, conventional learning

Abstract

The ability to understand mathematical concepts of students at UNP Laboratory Development High School is still not optimal. One of the efforts to improve the ability to understand students' mathematical concepts is to apply Contextual Teaching and Learning in learning mathematics. This study aims to find out whether the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students whose learning uses the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model is better than the ability to understand concepts using direct learning in class XI IIS SMA Development Laboratory UNP. This study uses a type of quasi-experimental research. The population in this study were all students in class XI IIS SMA Development Laboratory UNP for the academic year 2022/2023. Sampling was carried out using a simple random sampling technique. After carrying out the sampling steps, class XI IIS 1 was selected as the experimental class and class XI IIS 2 as the control class. The test instrument used is a test of the ability to understand mathematical concepts. The results showed that the students' ability to understand mathematical concepts in the class that applied the CTL model was better than the ability to understand concepts in the class that applied direct learning in class XI IIS SMA Pembangunan Laboratory UNP. Thus, it can be concluded that there is an influence from the application of the CTL learning model on students' understanding of mathematical conceptsKeywords– Concept Understanding, Contextual Teaching and Learning Model, Direct Learning Model

Abstract

Based on the results of interviews with educators and students resulted in a conclusion that trigonometry material is a material that is difficult for students to understand because students tend to memorize formulas and are not actively involved in learning. Discovery learning is a learning model designed to develop students' active learning through the process of discovery and investigation independently, the application of learning with the discovery learning model also requires teaching materials as learning resources that support the learning process using the model, one of which is teaching materials that can be used are Student Worksheets (LKPD). This research is categorized as research and development with the help of the Plomp model. At the initial investigation stage (preliminary research) needs analysis, curriculum analysis, concept analysis, and student analysis are carried out. At the prototype stage (prototyping stage), the LKPD that has been designed is self-evaluated, followed by an expert review by three validators, then tested by one-to-one evaluation and testing. try a small group (small group) to class X high school students. This research produces LKPD based on Discovery Learning on trigonometry material with valid and practical criteriaKeywords -Development, Discovery Learning, Student Worksheet, and Trigonometry

Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate the comparison between two instructional models, namely the Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, and Extending (CORE) model and direct instruction, on the mathematical concept comprehension of 12th-grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Payakumbuh. The research method employed a quasi-experimental approach with two sample groups, one as the experimental group implementing the CORE model, and the other as the control group receiving direct instruction. The results of the study indicated that students who underwent the CORE model demonstrated a better understanding of mathematical concepts compared to those who received direct instruction. These findings are relevant for enhancing the quality of mathematics education at the high school level and illustrate that interactive learning approaches like CORE can improve understanding of mathematical concept, particularly when adapted to students' needs. Keywords — Understanding of mathematical concepts, CORE, Direct learning
