Abstract

The Ability of understanding mathematical concepts is basic ability that must had students in learning mathematics. In this research, to improve the ability of understanding of mathematical concepts applied cooperative learning model of Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD). This research type is quasi experiment with static group design. The population of research is class VIII SMPN 18 Padang academic year 2017/2018. Sampling was randomly selected and VIII3 was selected as experimental class and class VIII4 as control class. The instrument of this research is a quiz and a final test of understanding of mathematical concepts. Quiz results are used to see the average increase in the quiz value of each meeting. The final test results are used to compare the understanding of the mathematical concepts of students who are learning by using STAD with an understanding of the mathematical concepts of students learning by using conventional learning. The quiz give results that there is a significant increase in the mean value of each meeting quiz. The final test gives the result that the student’s understanding of mathematical concepts that learn to use STAD type of cooperative learning model is better than the understanding of mathematical concepts that students learn to use conventional learning at grade VIII SMPN 18Padang.Keywords – understanding of mathematical concepts, student teams achievement division

Abstract

Learning outcomes can measure a students’s abilities. But in reality, there were still many math learning outcomes from poor or inadequate students. Discovery learning is one in every of learning models that could enhance college students mathematics studying outcomes. This type of research is a pre-experimental research using the One Group Pretest Posttest Design. The purpose of this study was to describe the development of mathematical learning outcomes of students in class XI IPA SMAN 1 2x11 Enam Lingkung after applying in the discovery learning model. The population of this study consisted of students in class XI MIPA SMAN 1 2x11 Enam Lingkung. The research subject being students of class XI MIPA 2. Pre-testing and post-testing of learning outcomes in the form of essay questions served as a research tool. Data were collected using tests and analyzed by paired sample t-tests and normalized gain tests. Research has shown that the average pre-test score for the experimental class is 50.37 and the average post-test score is 79.34. The results of the analysis came to the conclusion that the use of the discovery learning model influences the learning outcomes of mathematics. Keywords —Learning Outcome, Pre-Experiment, Discovery Learning

Abstract

Understanding mathematical concepts is one of  the goals of mathematics learning that student must have. However, the facts on the ground show that the understanding of the mathematical concepts of grade VIII students of SMPN 23 Padang is still low. Efforts are made to improve students’ understanding of concepts bt applying the cooperative learning model type Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) in mathematics learning. The purpose oh this is to describe the understanding oh mathematical concepts of students who learn using STAD type cooperative learning models better than students who learn to use conventional learning models in class  VIII SMPN 23 Padang. This type of  research is quasy experiment with a static group design. Based on the results of data analysis, it is found that understanding mathematical concepts of students who learn using the STAD type cooperative learning model is better than students who learn with conventional learning. Abstract

One of the goals of learning mathematics is to understand mathematics concepts.. However in practice the Grade 8 students of SMPN 6 Sawahlunto still have very little understanding of mathematical concepts. One of the efforts to improve understanding of mathematical concepts is to implement a team assisted individualization cooperative learning model. The purpose of this study was to find out whether students in class VIII SMPN 6 Sawahlunto who learned through direct instruction have a better understanding of mathematical concepts than students who learned through team assisted individualization models. This type of study is quasi-experimental and uses a non-equivalent post-test-only control group design. Learning tools are tests for understanding mathematical concepts. A t-test is used to test hypotheses. Based on the data analysis it was found that the students had a better understanding of the mathematical concepts taught in the team-assisted individually collaborative learning model compared to the students under the direct instruction.  Keywords– Cooperative Learning, Direct Learning, Mathematical Concepts Understanding, Team Assisted Individualization.

Abstract

Mathematics is implemented in various fields of science. However, there is still many students who make many mistakes in solving math problems. Therefore, an analysis of these errors is necessary to apply. This research aims to describe the types and factors which cause students to make errors according to Watson's criteria, namely incorrect data (ID), inappropriate procedures (IP), omitted data (OD), omitted conclusion (OC), response level conflicts (RLC), undirected manipulation (IM), skill hierarchy problems (SHP), and above other (AO). This research itself implements descriptive. Next, 34 students in twelfth-grade social science of SMA Negeri 4 Bukittinggi in the academic year 2020/2021 had participated in the research, and five of them were chosen to be interviewed. The research data were obtained from the test, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique was carried out using data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. The results showed that the most dominant type of error is AO which is 33.82%. Furthermore, RLC error is 25.55%, SHP error is 7.90%, IP error is 5.51%, ID error is 5.33%, the OD error is 4.96%, IM error is 4.04%, and OC error is 1.84%. These errors were caused by a lack of understanding about the material, inaccuracy, lack of experience and preparation before carrying out the test. Keywords—Watson Error Analysis, Mathematical Problems

Abstract

Research on the effects of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the mathematical problem solving skills of grade VII SMPN 7 Padang. This skill is crucial. Observations at this school showed that this skill is still low. Therefore, PBL-based research was conducted to improve this skill. A posttest-only non-equivalent control group design was used in this pseudo-experiment. This study involved the seventh grade of SMPN 7 Padang TP 2022/2023. Data analysis rejected H0 because the P-value was 0.017. Thus, PBL had an effect on math problem-solving skills compared to direct learning.Keywords– Mathematical Problem Solving, Hands-On Learning, PBL

Abstract

The result of preliminary studies suggest that students’ mathematical reasoning abilities on topic probability was low. This is due to the teaching of teachersthat are too focused on textbooks, while the presentation of topic probability is not fully adequate to guide students in learning.This research aimed to developing instructional design with the Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) approach on topic probability for Senior High School grade XII using Gravemeijer and Cobb model which consists of three phases, namely the preparing for the experiment), the conducting experiment) and the retrospective analysis.The subjects research were SMAN 2 Painan grade XII. The learning design in question is a learning path known as the Hypotetical Learning Trajectory (HLT). HLT is a learning flow consisting of learning objectives, learning activities, and learning process hypotheses to predict how students' thoughts and understanding will develop in the context of learning activities.The result showed that the development of instructional learning design with realistic mathematic education on topic probability in senior high school grade XII was valid and practice.Keywords–Realistic Mathematics Education, Probability, Design Research, Hypotetical Learning Trajectory

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to discribe whether applying the Student Teams Achievement Division type of cooperative learning model can improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts. This type of research is   a quantitative descriptive research using a pre-experimental design. The research design used is a one shot case study with the research subjects being class VIII students of SMP Negeri 7 Padang in 2021/2022. Data collection in this study consisted of five quizzes and a final test consisting of eight essay questions. The data analysis technique is analyzing the quiz scores at each meeting and analyzing the final test scores. The percentage of completeness of the quiz scores and the average quiz scores of students for the five meetings increased at each meeting. The average mathematical concept understanding test for all indicators is 84.15 with very good criteria. Keywords – Cooperative Learning, STAD, Understanding of Mathematical Concept

Abstract

Teaching materials type used in school is learning modules. The modules are still general in nature and not optimal for familiarizing students with problem solving questions. Therefore, develop learning modules based on problem-solving so that students are familiar with problem-solving questions. The research objective is to produce products that criteria are valid, practical, and effective. The results obtained a very valid and very practical problem solving-based trigonometry learning module with a score of 88.88 and 90.19. The level of effectiveness is high with an N-gain value of 0.77. Based on these data concluded the trigonometry learning modules based on problem-solving that has been developed is criteria as very valid, very practical, and high  effective to improve mathematical problem-solving abilities.Keywords– Module, Trigonometry, Valid, Practical, Effective

Abstract

One of the way improve to it problem is with use cooperative learning model Think-Talk-Write (TTW) type. The aim of this study is to describe if student's mathematical understanding consepts ability acquire learning with cooperative learning model Think-Talk-Write type better than student acquire study with convensional model and how learning activity of student who study with cooperative learning model Think-Talk-Write type. This type of research is descriptive and quasi experiment. This instrument use is a mathematical understanding consepts ability test and student learning activity sheet. The conclusion based on the analysis of t test is student's mathematical understanding consepts ability acquire learning with cooperative learning model Think-Talk-Write type better than student acquire study with convensional.
