Abstract

Mathematics learning has goals that must be achieved, one of which is the ability to solve mathematical problems. The poor ability of students to solve math problems is due to the suboptimal learning process. Therefore, in order to overcome this problem, a learning model that can improve student's mathematical problem-solving ability is needed, one of which is a problem-based learning model. The purpose of this research is to theoretically describe whether the problem-based learning model can improve student's mathematical problem-solving ability. This type of research is literature research, which aims to improve mathematical problem-solving capabilities through problem-based learning models. The conclusion of this research is to apply a problem-based learning model that has a tendency to improve student’s mathematical problem-solving abilities. Abstract

Mathematics Learning Outcomes can serve as a measure of the effectiveness of a learning process. Nevertheless, the academic achievements in mathematics among the twelfth-grade science students at SMAN 12 Padang remain subpar. Passive classroom learning styles, which minimise student participation, are the main cause of this problem. A better learning approach is needed to improve student achievement. This research implemented the TSTS cooperative learning model. This research investigates whether the implementation of TSTS can improve the learning outcomes of students in class XII SMAN 1 Padang compared to traditional learning methods. In this research, a quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group design was implemented. The researchers found that the mathematics learning outcomes of students of class XII MIPA SMAN 12 Padang were better through TSTS model compared to direct learning model.Keywords– learning outcomes, Two Stay Two Stray

Abstract

Mathematics communication plays very importance role in the mathematics learning which must be belonged and developed by the students. However, based on the result of observation in the class VIII at SMPN 1 IV Koto could be seen that mathematics communications ability still low. One of the solution is to apply the quantum teaching model. The purpose of this research is to describe is mathematic communication ability which used quantum teaching model is better than mathematics communication ability of students which learned with direct learning model and described the development of students’ mathematics communication ability which learned with quantum teaching model of learning in the class VIII at SMPN 1 IV Koto in the academic year 2019/2020. The kind of research is quasy exsperiment with Randomized Control Only Group Design planning model and hipotesis proved by t-test.from data anlyse could be concluded that students’ mathematics communication ability which learned with quantum teaching model of learning is better than students’ communication ability who learned with direct learning model at class VIII in SMPN 1 IV Koto at academic year 2019/2020.Keywords – quantum learning model, mathematical communication skill.Konsep Matematis

Abstract

Abstract  Understanding mathematical concepts is one of the goals that must be mastered by students in learning mathematics. the reality of understanding the mathematical concepts of students in class VIII SMP Negeri 15 Padang is still low. In addition, students are less active in the learning process. Efforts that can be made to improve students' mathematical understanding of concepts are by applying the Two Stay Two Stray cooperative learning model. This study aims to analyze and describe how the learning activities of students who applied the TSTS model and whether understanding mathematical concepts of students who learn by using the Two Stay Two Stray cooperative learning model is better than understanding mathematical concepts Learners who learn by using conventional learning models in class VIII of SMP Negeri 15 Padang. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design with Static Group Design. The research instrument was an observation sheet of students' activities and the final test was in the form of an essay which was analyzed using a non-parametric statistical test, the Mann-Whitney test. Based on statistical test analysis obtained P-value of 0.0078 smaller than the real level of 0.05, then Ho is rejected. That is, understanding mathematical concepts of students learning by using the Two Stay Two Stray cooperative learning model is better than understanding mathematical concepts of students learning by using conventional learning models in class VIII of SMP Negeri 15 Padang. Keywords : Understanding Mathematical Concepts, Two Stay Two Stray Cooperative Learning Models, Conventional Learning Models

Abstract

Mathematical literacy has a significant posision in mathematics learning, because this knowledge be able to formulate, employ, and interpret mathematic in a variety of contexs.  Several research have shown that ability is still low. This also happened at SMP Negeri 1 Payakumbuh best on the test result given to students class VIII. One solution to improve this ability is apply the Formulate Share Listen Create (FSLC) cooperative learning model. The aim of this research was to see the effect of the FSLC model on the mathematical literacy ability in class VIII. The type of research is a pre-experiment with one-shot case study design. The instruments of this research are mathematical literacy competence test and quiz. Abstract

Understanding concepts of mathematics is one of cogn itive competences that student have to ownin learningmathematics. Studentswere expected to do some activities to build their knowledge. Students would understand the topicif they done so. In fact, students’ competences on understanding concepts of mathematics and activities in learningprocess are still low. One of efforts to overcome this problem is usingStudent Team Achievement Division (STAD) typeof cooperative learning model. Purpose of research is to describe students’ understanding of mathematical conceptsandlearning activities using STAD type of cooperative learning model and conventional learning. This research was aquasi experiment with static group design which applied to VIII.5 class as experiment class and VIII.6 class as controlclass. Based on data analysis, it can be concluded that students’ understanding of mathematical conceptsusing STADtype of cooperative learning model is better than conventional learning and STAD type of cooperative learning modelalso give a good impact to increase learning activites of students.Keywords–cooperative learning,learning activities, STAD, understanding of mathematical concept

Abstract

Misconceptions exist in learning geometry at school. Therefore, this study aims to describe the forms of students' misconceptions in solving geometry problems. The research subjects were students of class VIII-1 and VIII-4 at SMP Negeri 5 Padang Panjang. The research instrument was in the form of essay questions and interview guidelines. The results of this study showed several misconceptions of students, namely: (1) misconceptions about the concept of height in a triangle; (2) error in determining the height of the pyramid; (3) errors in identifying prism elements such as base, cover, and height; (4) misconceptions about the concepts and formulas of the Pythagorean Theorem (5) errors in identifying and distinguishing geometric shapes based on their properties. The main cause of the misconception is the lack of knowledge construction process during the geometry learning process. This condition will result in students' shallow understanding of geometric concepts. Keywords - geometry and misconceptions

Abstract

Understanding the concept of mathematics is one important thing that must be possessed learners. Based on the observations that have been done, it appears that the understanding of mathematical concepts of learne sclass VIII SMPN 1 Padang Panjang still low. One effort that can be done is to apply the Think Pair Share Learning Model. This research type is combination of quasi experiment and descriptive. The purpose of this research is to describe whether understanding mathematical concepts of learners who learn by Think Pair Share learning is better than learners who learn by direct learning. The instrument used was test of understanding mathematical concepts of learners. Abstract

Understanding of mathematical concepts is important for students because it is basic ability, but in fact students’ understanding of mathematical concepts in SMPN 4 Padang grade eight is still low, so it needs to be improved because teachers use teacher centered learning in class. One attempt to overcome this problem is applied a learning model that can facilitates students to understand concepts and build their own knowledge. Learning model that can be applied is Cooperative Learning type Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS). Type of this research is quasi experiment with Static Group Design. Purpose of this research is to describes the impact from this model for understanding of mathematical concepts. Based on the result of data analysis by using t test, P-value = 0,011< ???? = 0,05, it can be concluded that understanding of mathematical concepts of students who studiying by cooperative learning type TSTS is better than students who study by conventional learning.Keywords — cooperative learning, two stay two stray, understanding of mathematical concepts, conventional learning.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the difficulties of class XI MIA SMA Pembangunan Lab.UNP on the derivative of algebraic functions and their causal factors. This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The data in this study are data from tests, questionnaires and interviews. The Data was analyzed using qualitative, analysis techniques, namely data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The conclusion from the research results are: 1) The difficulties in the material of derivatives of algebraic functions KD 3.8 and 4.8 are difficulties in using the concept of limits to determine derivatives, derivative properties, chain rules, nth derivatives and principles. derivatives in solving problems, 2).The factors that cause students to have difficulty learning mathematics are 1) Internal factors, namely: a) low mathematical talent, b) less effective study habits, c) poor perception of mathematics, 2) external factors, namely: a) the influence of friends b) how to teach the teacher. Keywords— Difficulty, Derivative.
