Abstract

This study examines the multiplication and root form problem solving skills of grade IX junior high school students. This qualitative research was descriptive in nature. Research involves planning, conducting and analyzing. The research subjects were three children who had the highest, average, and lowest mathematics scores in their class, using the KKM score as the assessment reference. They used the Math Problem Solving Ability Test. The Grade IX SMP students were unable to understand the problem, plan the solution, solve problems according to plan, or check the multiplication and root form material, so they had low mathematical problem-solving ability in these areas. Keywords: Analysis of Students Mathematical Ability, Mathematical Problem Solving Ability, Exponentials and Roots Material

Abstract

Understanding the concept of mathematics is a cognitive ability that every learner is expected to have in mathematics learning. However, in fact, the learners ' learning outcomes are seen that understanding the mathematical concepts is still low, so it needs to be improved. The solution to overcome this is to implement a learning approach so as to facilitate the understanding of the material and build its own knowledge of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) cooperative model for The equation and linear inequalities of one variable are easy to understand. This type of research is pre-experimental research with The One-Shot Case Study Draft and focused on the assessment of final test results understanding The mathematical concept of learners. Based on the analysis of the test results understanding of the mathematical concepts given is derived that the indicators classify the objects based on the presence of the requirements in forming concepts, giving examples and examples of cons of a concept, and Presenting concepts in various mathematical representations more effectively than the indicators of understanding the other concepts. This indicates that the application of the CTL-type cooperative learning model can describe the understanding skills of the student concept.Key Words – Contextual Teaching and Learning approach, Mathematical Concepts Understanding Key Words – Contextual Teaching and Learning approach, Mathematical Concepts Understanding

Abstract

This research was conducted to analyze one of the students’ mathematical problem-solving abilities that have not shown good results. Analyzing the problem-solving abilities of students in class XI MIPA 7 on the answer sheets for the material on Rows and Series. The type of research used is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Based on the research that has been done, three analysis results were obtained. First, high-ability participants have moderate problem-solving abilities, with a score of 8 (66,67%) in good predicate on geometric series question and a score of 9,7 (80,83%) in good predicate on Decay problem. Second, moderately capable participants have moderate problem-solving abilities, obtaining a score of 7,87 (65,58%) on a moderate predicate on Geometric Series question and a score of 7,56 (63%) with a moderate predicate on Decay problem. Third, low-ability students have problem-solving abilities in the moderate category tend to be low, obtaining a score of 7,078 (58,98%) in moderate predicate on Geometric Series question and a score of 4,1 (34,16%) with a poor predicate on Decay problem. Keywords  Problem Solving skills, Sequence and Series, Decay Problem

Abstract

The ability to solve mathematical problems in learning is a basic thing that students should have. According to test results from SMPN 1 Hulu Kuantan, students had poor problem-solving abilities, receiving an average of 11.4% on each indicator. Students' mathematical problem-solving skills do not develop adequately due to a lack of active participation in the learning process and the approach used. Realistic mathematics education (RME) is a possible method of instruction. This study aims to assess and describe how well students learn to solve mathematical problems using the RME methodology, which is superior to learning through conventional methods. This kind of study uses a nonequivalent posttest-only control group design and a quasi-experimental methodology. The entire class of students in grade 8 at SMPN 1 Hulu Kuantan. According to the results of the data description and analysis, students at SMPN 1 Hulu Kuantan who study using the RME technique have more advanced mathematical problem-solving skills than students who learn using conventional methods. Keywords – RME, Mathematical Problem Solving

Abstract

The ability to solve mathematical problems is one of the goals that students must achieve in learning mathematics. But in fact the mathematical problem-solving abilities possessed by students of class XI MIPA SMA Negeri 2 Tebo are still low. Efforts that can be made to improve mathematical problem solving abilities are to apply the Think Talk Write (TTW) type of cooperative learning model. This type of research is the Quasy Experiment and Randomized Control Group Only Design chosen as the research design model. The research results show that there is an effect of the application of the think talk write type cooperative learning model on the mathematical problem solving abilities of students. Thus, the mathematical problem solving abilities of students who learn with the Think Talk Write type of cooperative learning model are better than the mathematical problem solving abilities of students who learn using the direct learning model. Keywords — mathematical problem solving, cooperative learning, think talk write

Abstract

This study aims to develop learning tools based on a scientific approach that will be applied to the cooperative learning model of the Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) type. The learning tools developed were RPP and LKPD for SMP class VII semester 2 on the material of squares and triangles. The quality of the RPP and LKPD developed is assessed based on aspects of validity and practicality. This development research uses the Plomp development model which consists of three stages, namely the preliminary investigation phase, the development phase (Prototyping Phase), and the assessment phase. Based on the results of the validity data analysis, it shows that the learning tools based on the scientific approach with the student teams achievement division model are very valid. Where the percentage result of the validation of the RPP is 85.22% with a very valid category and LKPD has a validity value of 81.17% with a very valid category. The Learning tool also meets the practical criteria of the questionnaire and interview results. The results of the practicality questionnaire data analysis of students were 88.09% with the very practical category. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the learning device based on the scientific approach with the Student Teams Achievement Division model on the material of squares and triangles for grade VII junior high school students can be declared valid and practical. Abstract

Understandings ideas is one of the mathematical ability that students needs to acquire. The results of the observation at SMA Negeri 1 2x11 Enam Lingkung indicate a low level of students understanding of mathematical conceptss. Geogebra-assisted Problem-Based Learning (PBL) can help overcome this problem. This study examines the understandings of mathematical concepts of X grade students of SMA Negeri 1 2x11 Enam Lingkung who are implemented Problem Based Learning (PBL) assist by geogebra and compares it with the direct learning model. This study also tracked students understandings of mathematical concepts during the implementation of the geogebra-assisted PBL model. A posttest-only non-equivalent control group design was used in this quasi-experimental and descriptive study. Learners who learned using geogebra-assisted PBL had a better understandings of mathematical concepts compared to the application of direct learning. Keywords– Mathematical Concepts Understandings, Hands-On Learning, Problem Based Learning

Abstract

Abstract – Mathematics learning outcomes are one indicator of the success of a learning process. However, based on observations, the MID score shows that the mathematics learning outcomes of Class VIII SMP Negeri 17 Kerinci students in the 2021/2022 academic year are still not good. One effort to overcome this is to use a mind mapping type of cooperative learning model. The purpose of this study was to describe and find out the learning outcomes of students who were taught by mind mapping cooperative learning model were better than students who were taught by conventional learning in class VIII of SMP Negeri 17 Kerinci. This study uses a static group design. Based on the analysis of related data, the researchers found that there was an effect where the learning outcomes of mathematics taught by applying the Mind Mapping Type Cooperative learning model were better than the learning outcomes of mathematics taught by direct learning models in class IX of SMP Negeri 17 Kerinci. Keywords– Mind Mapping, Mathematics Learning Outcomes, Cooperative Method
